Mortal Kombat 4 Review To start off, let's talk about the basic plot of the game: Shinnok, a fallen Elder God, wants to take over Earthrealm for himself by siding with the Netherrealm sorcerer Quan Chi (BTW, the plan does not go well in the end for either of them) Now the Kombatants are set to stop Shinnok from destroying the world. Here's the full list: Kai, a Shaolin Monk and a comrade of Kung Lao and Liu Kang Raiden, the Thunder God and mentor to our heroes Shinnok, the Fallen Elder God and final boss of the game Liu Kang, the one and only champion of Mortal Kombat Reptile, a Zaterran (don't know what that means, maybe a lizardman) who serves Shinnok Scorpion, the spectre who has no allegiance (has rivalries with Sub-Zero and Quan Chi) Jax, the Special Forces agent Reiko, Shinnok's right hand man Johnny Cage, the actor BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!! Jarek, the last survivor of the Black Dragon Tanya, the traitor of Edenia Fujin, the God of wind and new protector of Earthrealm Sub-Zero, the cyromancer Quan Chi, the sorcerer Sonya, the Special Forces leader on the hunt for Jarek All of them will fight for the future of the Realms. or so we thought when playing this game Now, let's get to the game itself Being the first Mortal Kombat game in 3-D, the graphics are made to represent that. The fighters now look realistic and can have their arms snapped, their necks broken, or their legs broken. The backgrounds are still 2-D though. In terms of fighting mechanics, it's still the same, with weapons added to each fighter, although it can be removed from a fighter when hit by his or her opponent. The special moves are there, the two fatalities per character, now in 3-D, and some of the fatalities are pretty good The arcade ladder is the same one from the UMK3, except there are no endurance rounds; it's straight to the sub-boss Goro before battling Shinnok and getting the character's ending, which is now in a cinematic cutscene, but unlike the Playstation version, the characters do not move along with the voiceover MK4 now contains a practice mode, which you can use to practice the moves of your favorite character. It's also interactive, which means you can make the computer active or not, change the background, and so on. Now for the breakdown of the scores: Graphics: 8/10 Sound: 9/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Addictiveness: 10/10 Depth: 7/10 Story: 8/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Overall Score: 8.4/10 Final Thoughts: Mortal Kombat 4 is a very good fighting game for the N64, but it just needs a few adjustments to become an all-time classic amoung the series. Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for the Game boy Advance Let's see how this goes: So for the basic plot of the story, Quan Chi is trapped in the Netherrealm, after revealing himself to be the killer of Scorpion's family and his clan, the Shirai Ryu. He escapes by stealing Shinnok's amulet, and teams up with Shang Tsung to revive the "Dragon King" and his army, and Raiden, the Thunder God, has to stop them. However, he must sacrifice his Elder God status to do so and help the others. This game introduces a lot of new characters, alongside previous favorites like Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero (now unmasked for the 2nd time, although his alternate costume contains a mask), and the aformentioned Raiden. Unfortunately, not all the characters in the console versions are present in the Game Boy version The character roster stands at the ff: Shang Tsung , the sorcerer who wants to RULE THE WORLD Quan Chi, the ruler of the underworld aka the Netherrealm Scorpion, the spectre hellbent on revenge Raiden, the God of Thunder (Sorry Thor) Jax, the Special Forces agent with all the muscles Sub-Zero, the Lin Kuei Grandmaster who's picking new students Kitana, the princess of Edenia Kung Lao, the Shaolin monk wanting to avenge the death of his friend Frost, Sub-Zero's apprentice, and a very arrogant individual Sonya, the leader of the Special Forces Kano, the Black Dragon leader Li Mei, the one of few good people of Outworld Kenshi, the blind swordsman All the other characters present in the console versions (except Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Scorpion), along with Sektor, Sareena, and Noob, are in Tournament Edition, basically a new version of the same game The graphics are basically GBA-level graphics. The pixelated characters are not creatively designed, and the backgrounds do not move at all. The sound is basically just rehashed samples from the console version. You can clearly hear the same sounds from the console version when the fighters are getting hit. It's just basically one set of sounds for men, and another set for the women. In terms of gameplay, it's actually good. The hit detection is spot on, all the special moves and fighting styles are there, there is blood present. and the Fatalities are present, abelit watered-down versions of it. Like I said, not much variety is is this game apart from being a hand-held port. There are still some issues with the gameplay. First, the AI is inconsistent, especially in survival mode. The throw mechanics are off, so off that i kept pressing A and S on my keyboard at the same time (these represent the A and B buttons on the GBA for all the vizzed noobs) and it sitll does not work. Finally, some animations are a bit sloppy, especially when the fighters jump. In terms of depth, it's one again lacking in features, apart from the Survival mode and the Krypt (which has a full supply of alternate costumes) To sum this all up, I would give it a 6.4/10. I can say that this game is a complete disappointment for all Mortal Kombat fans, even for a Game Boy Advance Game Let's see how this goes: So for the basic plot of the story, Quan Chi is trapped in the Netherrealm, after revealing himself to be the killer of Scorpion's family and his clan, the Shirai Ryu. When I first logged in to this website, I noticed that Sega Dreamcast games were added to the Retro game room I tried downloading a couple games, but they took too long Finally, I was able to get to play World series Baseball 2K1. However my keyboard did not work with this game. How do I play dreamcast games? Do I need a Dreamcast controller or some kind of PC Controller to play these types of games? Now here's my review for NBA Court side 2 featuring Kobe Bryant Graphics: Look pretty realistic, the players still need some adjusting. The court design is real as this website (sorry for the pun). The jerseys look pretty good too. 9/10 Sound: CHICK HEARN! Need I say more..... but the menu music is not catchy at all. 8.4/10 Game play: Looks like all the basketball games I have played on this website. I feel like I need to get the shot timing down. 8.7/10 Addictiveness: What do you think?, 9.5/10 Story: There is none! Difficulty: Not really that hard to play. 6/10 Depth: Just like your average basketball game, except the three point contest. 7/10 Overall: 9+8+9+10+6+7=49 I rounded out to the nearest whole number to fit with the site ratings 49/6=8.2/10 It's a good game, but feels like the same old basketball game Graphics: Look pretty realistic, the players still need some adjusting. Here is the review for NBA Showdown 94 Graphics: Just like the last game (Bulls vs Blazers if you did not notice) , nothing new besides the new teams and players , 7/10 Sound: NO COMMENTARY! Like seriously EA, did you forget about the commentary? Being it's 1994, it's no big deal either, 7/10 Game play: Again, also like last game, but the new dunks and animations make it feel somewhat different. 7/10 Addictiveness: Not really Addicting, but it's fun to see the nostalgia. No Charles Barkley though. 8/10 Depth: Exactly what you see in a basketball game, except you can't trade players. 9/10 Overall Let's see: 7+7+7+8+9=38 38/5=7.6/10 Not bad, but it could be better, even for a Genesis game Graphics: Just like the last game (Bulls vs Blazers if you did not notice) , nothing new besides the new teams and players , 7/10 Sound: NO COMMENTARY! This game is one of the best I played on this website. I tried this before on my laptop and it kept lagging, but I began using it on desktop and it was pretty good The graphics are what you expect from a hockey game. The ice, the jerseys, the players, everything looks and feels like a hockey game on N64. The sound was good. I liked Bill Clement's one-liners. No Jim Hughson though I would really like to play this game again, and the gameplay is one of many reasons why. The shot control feels unique, but for some reason the checking (the players just keep flying) , the lack of penalties (I don't know if I modified the settings or it's just like that), and the AI screwing up at times (the goalies are not even trying) are some of the bad points For the presentation, it's a little lacking. Maybe some licensed presentations would work, like ESPN or FOX. For other game modes, they are pretty good. You still have the roster edits, the settings, the season mode (unfortunately no Franchise mode) and the tournament (I never got to play that mode) and everything feels like the true Hockey experience The graphics are what you expect from a hockey game.
