A forum or thread some where on board for users to find someone to play with for online services in which you can only join someone you specify. For example: a LAN tunneler (what LAN tunneling is when you take data being sent/received on a LAN/System Link game and send it through the Internet for another player to send/receive) only shows all the games being hosted, and sometimes they could be password protected or the host may not like how many players you have or your ping (or just you) and could be hard to find a game (and also this way you may be playing with someone you may know).

(Off topic, but where on the board would I post a tutorial on how to setup and  use a LAN tunneler? I bet there is some people on the board that would like the concept that they can play semi-old games online, like Halo 2, hell maybe this could be done for some sort of Vizzed tournament, which could be streamed through twitch for people who need something more to stream.)

I've got a suggestion. (Captain Obvious). You already do the RGR competition, and I did talk to some people about it in some threads some months ago, but you should hold some System Link LAN tunnel competitions on popular old games like Halo 2 or CE. I know of and have personally used two LAN tunnelers (sorry, LAN tunneling is taking a system link game (connecting 2 or more consoles through LAN and play a game through it on separate TVs) and taking the data sent between the consoles and sending them through the Internet to other players) that work great. I could write a thread about LAN tunneling and the two pieces software, how to set them up and use them so some people can join together and play. Great part is the software is free (though one has premium service with some extra features)! The software is XBC (Xbox Connect) and Xlink Kai (which XBC supports xbox/xbox 360 and PSP while Xlink Kai supports GameCube, PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox, and Xbox 360). I will be able to help some one help set up and play with this about 8:00-9:00 AM tomorrow (server time).

Davideo7 : Ya, but I always enjoyed Halo as a Microsoft exclusive, and that's how I always want to enjoy it as, but that's cool the Halo 2 servers are still up for this long! Though by now, someone out there has most likely started making home made and run Halo 2 servers for when they are shut down, so we can all still play Halo 2 online. After I'm done right now updating my game collection some (still kinda new) I'm going to download that XBConnect and sign up, try it out and see if it is worth it or if I should find another LAN tunneler. (They are plenty out there.)

Davideo7 : Yes, It would (I own just Combat Evolved or 1), I replied more info on your reply in another thread. I really should get Halo 2, also, if you get it to work, you can use it as a way to play system link compatible games on 360 online after Microsoft ends Live support for 360.

Davideo7 : No, the service I suggested you can pay for, but is not necessary, although I have never tried it, which is why I'd like to see if anyone on the board would like to help me in this process and lay out a tutorial for other users, and use the boards features to find players playing a game to set up tunneled LAN games, again the site is (www.XBConnect.com) to look at it. This would be awesome to play some Halo Combat Evolved with some users! To explain the tunneled LAN game more is that you load a game on a console (Halo 2 for Xbox for example) and start a LAN game on the game (making the game and console think it's playing a local network game) but the info sent goes to a PC instead of another console (another Xbox with Halo 2 loaded) witch the PC uses software (XBConnect) to send the game info over the internet to make an internet game (Like Halo 3 on Xbox Live) of a game that may not had online support (Halo Combat Evolved). Short: Console LAN game over internet. Unfortunately, I can't try til' monday, I'm away from home, where my Xbox is, but I'd love to try it out then.

If any one wants to help me in any way in my pursuits, just reply here or PM me please, all help is appreciated!

All I own is Combat Evolved, maybe a tunneled LAN game of some original Xbox games might be in the future? I here it's not too hard, I already have Combat Evolved and an (unmodded) Xbox, so just have to setup the tunneled LAN game. Just looked it up, a LAN tunneling software (created with Xbox in mind) is XBConnect (http://www.xbconnect.com). All it requires is a PC, Internet connection, and console. Haven't looked at it too much but will look further into it. (If there's anyone out there who has an Xbox and is willing to help me try it out, I'd appreciate it, I don't know anyone with an Xbox to try it with.)

One of the few times I had a 360 not a PS3, I want a free Halo game!
