Tornadocam was just givin you a greeting multiple cultures would understand.  You must be American to not have realized that.  If I'm wrong it is only because I am American and trying to see what the web thinks of us.  Otherwise, I remember your posts, you never outstayed your welcome, and I am glad ur back.  Let us see what you have to offer this time around.  You have a unique view-point on things and it is refreshing to hear it, so don't hold back.

I recently broke my left thumb (last week) and the first couple of days was torture.  I wrapped it up in a splint using ace bandage and a popsicle stick and that really helped it out.  I don't use my left thumb for typing but just keeping it from moving while I typed helped tremendously.  Also if it gets worse instead of better, it might be doctor time.  And make sure your in bed my 10:00 pm jk.

Super Mega Man 568 :  Well it is more than just pinning a game down.  The sad fact of the matter is a lot of the attention drawn to violent video games was simply money.  Not long b4 this parents were suing Rap artists saying the music had influenced their kids to violence.  Well some lawyers decided they could get rich by making another similar controversy using violence in video games, successfully I might add, on both counts.

All time favorite (least games I include here, due to my pickyness) is RPG.  Fighting and Racing are second with many more games I love.  And since I saw it in the previously post platforming also ranks up there really high too.

One good thing to say about the gamecube is that at least it has a good d-pad.  I swear d-pads after the 16-bit era have gone downhill.  I love fighters and a good d-pad is crucial for my style of game-play.  But the Snes controller isn't my favorite because of all the newer features now available.  I love my analog sticks and triggers for racing games so my favorite controller is the Xbox 360 wired controllers.  They improved the d-pad over the horrible one on the standard controllers.  My ideal controller however is the Playstation 3 (haven't tried 4 yet) with a SNES d-pad on it.  Oh that would be so freaking cool.

Well the thing was that at the time this was all brand new.  This type of violence had just begun to gain the realism and quantities need to draw peoples attention to it.  B4 this violence in games even when done in a hardcore manner - the technical limitations just would not allow for violence on a level capable of getting a "gut reaction".  I was like 13 or so when MKII came to our local arcade and the violence was a huge draw to the game.  That combined with the fact that I loved fighters like SFII means I developed quite the bond with both MKI and MKII.  Other games at the time were beginning to show this same trend but something about the Mortal Kombat series drew the focus of parents concerns about this "gut reaction" violence beginning to show up in video games.

One thing touched on by Super Mega Man is that nowadays the technology allows for violence way more realistic and able to give a first timer that "gut reaction" more easily and intensely.  The downside to this is also a numbing effect that is distributed among games.  It takes bigger thrills for us to get this "gut reaction" so when looking back at something like MKII or MKI it just tends to be tame due to our jades perspectives.
So the attention your talking about wasn't even really concerned just so much with the Mortal Kombat series but the fact that violence could now appear graphically enough to maybe have a negative effect on their children.  I can see why they could get fearful but in reality I think the worst types of things to come from violence in video games is what happens in the paragraph before this one.

For me this comes down to supernatural powers versus technological powers.  I always go supernatural when it comes to this question.
Superman has given supernatural powers while batman is just human.  Gotta go superman.

I watched a couple of episodes back in like 85' or something like that.  I think it is a different version than the one most people refer to nowadays though.  As for specific episodes my memory is not good enough for such an arduous task.

I found this site while at tech. college looking for something extra to do while they sat me in front of a computer for 6 hours.  Well I've been into emulators since like 94' and always played video games since my first system (colecovision) back in like 85' or so.  Well I discovered this site due to my knowledge of online emulators , no downloading the RGR plugin on the schools computer (these days anyway) and saw a board for the first time since 1994 and learned about modems.  Well I have been kicking around here ever since.

M25 :  Just so you know there are enough different type of sleep aids available that you could probably take something every night for the rest of your life and never develop the type of tolerance you are talking about.  You see the danger comes when you develop such a tolerance to a specific drug that you need near lethal doses to achieve the desired result. With the availability being so diverse by the time you develop a high enough tolerance to a drug a new one can be tried.  I say this because it sounds like u have a legitimate case of insomnia and medication might improve the quality of your life.

I usually feel like the limit is too low but at the same time it just makes the liking of a post all that much more special so...  I really could go either way on a thing like this.

Funny stuff.  Free games for all.  First line of the intro... Well not exactly free had me laughing.  Anyways does steam carry games that an older laptop with pretty low tech specs could run.  I mean is it even worth looking into with a laptop like mine?  Steam I mean not just the deal.

Singelli :  That is some good advice I shall have to try hard to find something to add.

First off let me say I feel your pain Videogameman.  When I lived with my father and step-mother they tried to tell me how to dress, how to wear my hair, what games I could play, who I could hang out with, let's just say they were a little too controlling.  I know that stuff like that just really will make you mad.  Now i'm not condoning this but you know what I did.  I would pack the clothes I wanted to wear and change on the way to the bus stop.  Now in your case I don't think you Mom is being quite that bad, it seems you two are just butting heads over this particular issue.  And while I agree with Singelli to an extent, that while they are providing all your needs and you live with them and are still (i'm sure they see it this way) their little baby, they have some obligation to make sure you aren't making any negative statements to the world with your hairstyle.  At the same time though someone at your age wishes to develop their own place in the world and style is part of that.

I totally agree with Singelli in that you should try to have a completely rational discussion with your Mom and try to come to some sort of compromise.  Maybe get a stylist magazine and sit down with her and try to come up with something you can both live with.

You girls are making my heart feel all gooey and whatnot.  Am I feeling an emotion?  Make it stop, lol.  Really Ima bust out the obvious answer here and that is old video games.  When I play the games I spent so many hours figuring out and perfecting my skills at it really just gives me all the warm feelings (yea I know it is called nostalgia), and I love it.  One of the best parts is as I still play new games 20 years from now they can be added to the list of games to give me nostalgic feelings so the library of games that can make me feel this way just keep growing.  Really good thread btw and I remember Singelli's as well.  But if you girls make me feel an emotion ever again I swear.... (I just might have to hug you).

Singelli :  Yes your point was made it just made me chuckle was all.  And professional teams go to the super bowl.  College teams have many of their own bowls and tournaments.

Also I agree with you on your statement that professionals goal should be to win, they are paid for just that, anything less would be disappointing to fans I think.  It does go hand in hand with my statement about how at the time it is about winning but afterwards hopefully they can look back at the fun they had too.

Actually sounds like a fun game.  Running with 20 zombies chasing you, no probs right.  Another review that makes me wish I had a PC worth it's weight in green beans.  Oh well one day.

Singelli :  A college team at the Super Bowl?  you crack me up girl.

I don't really play sports competitively anymore but when I did (basketball, baseball) winning was always the goal and really fun when you did.  Looking back after all these years though, I am glad to just have been a good player and have fun with it.  At the time it was more about winning but in the long run I think it is the fun of the game rather than the thrill of the win that kept me going so hard.

Wow I didn't know there where rules on things like this.  I did know that waaaayyyy back when I was new on here I sandwiched posted and got reamed by some other users so have avoided it like the plague since then.  It is nice to know that I can get away with it at least a couple of times officially.

I'm so in favor of this idea.  I would love to try the playstation emu out here.  I haven't had the vizz so far cuz you got Saturn and my vizz has been going to those games lately but they tend to be glitchy.  I think something like half off might even make the boards more active because I know myself for one would be trying to get the vizz up to buy the item half-off.  Also ghostfishy never played a playstation game?  How, what, I, just fix that.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
