That important to you, eh?
To be honest, I was a little scared when I saw just how much you all seem to adore the series. Truth be told, I actually never even HEARD of the series before both the announcement of the movie and of the video games. I never read any of the books... or have any knowledge on the series itself. Not only that, but I wasn't even really that interested when I heard of both the movie and the video games. I just thought it was 'just another generic midevil-based movie'. Perhaps a little too brutally honest, but one can not show interest in something they know nothing about. Ok. It is pretty much confirmed now. The member called "Saridon" of the Chrono Compendium forums has agreed to help us out. He is actually helping out with more artwork than I had thought. He has taken three of the jobs; half of the available artwork for use. These are the jobs, and those currently doing them:
Wallpapers: - Chrono + Marle -- N/A - Frog, Magus's castle -- Saridon - Marle (thumbs up) -- N/A Signatures: - Chrono, Epoch -- N/A - Ayla on dino -- Saridon - CT gang in Epoch -- Saridon ...of course; this list will be updated as people come along to help with the artwork. Anyway... three down; three to go. Ummm...
Hmmmmm... How to put this... Ok. Lets make a little scenario here. Lets say a person, lets call him "Apok", went to this "cornpendium" to post a quick request. Of course; "Apok" never actually intended to STAY at this "cornpendium"... hence he did not register. Being the 'smart' fellow that he was, "Apok" decided to use the simple guest functions... as guests could post in these forums. "Apok" checked his posts with great care; for he knew that he would be unable to *edit* these posts since he was not a member. "Apok" made his request, and one fellow happened to agree to help with this request. "Apok" then went back to his USUAL forums (from whence the request came) and thus delivered the news. Let us here, introduce a new character. We shall call him "Stoned_Man". "Stoned_Man" looks over "Apok"'s post, and goes over to the "cornpendium" to take make sure all is going well with the request process. There he finds that "Apok", made a serious error. "Apok" apparently posted information which was to be kept secret. Of course, not many had viewed this yet... and hence "Stoned_Man", believing there was still hope, asked "Apok" to simply edit the information out of his original message. Of course, "Apok" knew full well that editing a guest message was a pure impossibility. So, being the generally honest person, "Apok" went and told what had happened... Now then. Seeing this situation fleshed out well enough... what would one believe the outcome to be for this "Apok"? Keep in mind, "Apok" saw something along the lines of: "With so little time left, I think we need to go to whatever measures must be taken to make sure we have the art in time. If that means revealing the website, I'm ok with that." One must consider... was what this "Apok" did truely against what was specified? Hmmmmm... How to put this... Ok. I found someone in the Compendium who seems willing to do at least one signature or wallpaper. He still seems a little confused as to what to do in regards to pictures necessary for use; despite me trying to explain a few times, so you might want to check out the thread I made so as to better explain it to him.
The post is in the "General Discussion" part of the forum. Take a look if you want. It seems he has some prior experience... so it seems we at least have one artist willing to help. Ok. I'll work on the pictures that were requested. A petition shall be made with Lavos; and another with Janus and Alfador. When I run in to a bunch of time; I'll make those up for you. In other words, probably around Wednesday. Then again... due to the crazy assignments I get... I suppose it would be wiser at this point to not give any deadline. When I DO get the chance to work on them though; I SHOULD be able to pop them out pretty fast.
About the Alfador/Janus picture... I probably could take out Queen Zeal. Depending on a few factors, I can either do it the easy way... or the insanely difficult way. I suppose I'll see when I do it. I'm not 100% sure about this one though. If I do it, it will be one of the only pics to not have a "border" around it. It probably won't make THAT much of a difference, but it is something to consider. Like last week; I will probably be pretty busy up until the end of this week, or Wednesday. Depending on the assignments I am given, I may or may not be very active over the short vacation. About the Alfador/Janus picture... I probably could take out Queen Zeal. I just had a horrible thought of the "Teddy Bear" being replaced by the Lavos Plushie. That would be so... awkward. I mean... who wouldn't love hugging an intergalactic alien species that devours planets and the inhabitants of said planets as they sleep? That would be so insane. You know what though... I'm sure people would buy the Lavos plushie... perhaps it actually... is marketable. ...Maybe we should sell them after the whole petition business is over... Hmmmmmm... if a Lavos plushie was to be made though... which "level" of Lavos would we use... ...Maybe we should sell them after the whole petition business is over... I would personally like all three systems; or at least PS3 and the Revolution to have the remake. If I had to choose just one though; I would have to go with the Revolution on this one. Chrono Trigger was, in a way, a "Revolution" in the RPG genre. It wasn't the stereotypical storyline, and the characters were far more dynamic than in prior games as well. Then you have to consider the interactive enviroments in CT. The hidden switches that revealed secret paths, and the hidden items scattered practically everywhere. Keeping this is mind, it would make more sense for a system that is "Revolutionary" itself, and based on such interaction to have such a game.
Like was previously mentioned... imagine a battle system; that while was based off of the original CT battle system, increased the effectiveness of the attack the better you emulated it. For example; lets say Crono went to do his standard attack. To increase the efficiency of the attack, you would make a slicing motion with the Revolution controller. If you were using Magus, you would emulate the complex hand motions. In the actual enviroment of the game, you would be walking along a dungeon and find a blue sparkle in the distance. You would then run up to it, and actually point at it and pick it up. You just found a magic tab. ...Doesn't that sound more exciting than the standard method of play? The CT world was very interactive, and I believe the Revolution controller would suit those needs... and allow further emphasis on it in a remake. Wait a second... someone... who is not...
*confetti spews forth from the sky* Congratulations Elara; you are the first non-staff member to post in these forums! If I had Lavos plushies to give out, you'd definitely get one. Well... then again... those would look kind of nasty... ...I was wondering when someone would become a little curious and go in to the CTP section. Guess it has finally happened. Anyway... I suppose I never told anyone what specifically my choice was. I'm a nostalgic kind of guy, so I'd probably just want the same great battle system... but perhaps with a few tweaks. *confetti spews forth from the sky* Congratulations Elara; you are the first non-staff member to post in these forums! Just thought I would mention; I think I may have found someone on the Compendium that would be willing to do some work in regards to the wallpapers. He seems quite skilled... so if he really does intend to work on a wallpaper or two; it would be quite nice. I'll extend the offer also to some of my friends who are a bit more... artistically inclined. While they are indeed lazy, and also just as busy as I am... it couldn't exactly hurt to ask them. It would be nice to have at least a few of the signatures/wallpapers ready before the launch. -------------------- |

Good. Then my presumption is that you like that version, correct? Glad you like it. ...by the way... If any of the major contributors to this project want a specialized petition for themself as well, I would gladly make them one. My criteria are that you have artwork you want me to use, that the artwork is in some way related to CT, and that the artwork has the same basic shape as the art we have previously used. You will need to specify to me specifically how you want it to look. I'll only be doing this for the "staff", so you'll be able to boast that you have a special version of the petition for yourself. ...by the way... That being said, I will ask for artists in other places as well.
We'll see how this thing goes. The art would be nice to have, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't have it specifically for the launch. With any luck, we'll at least have most of them done by then though. Anyway... my requirement for the artists would be: - The Signature must mention the CTP group in some way. - Must have at least PART of the displayed image in it. - Any additional artwork must pertain to CT. - Must be appropriate for the purpose of this petition. No problem at all. I had thought you might want some crazy changes or something. If you like the first version though, I guess I can't complain. It took about five minutes of work. Not much to thank me for there. Of course, if you decide later on that you wouldn't mind some resizing or color changes... I suppose it could be done. I suppose it is fitting that the person who put all of this together would have a "unique" version of the petition for himself. Anyway, glad you like it. You know, that isn't a bad idea. S-E will definitely be giving us some attention if we publicly announce that we are doing this, hence they would probably take a look at the site and also the forums that the site interacts with. As such, it is very possible that they might see the polls. When we gather enough signatures and send our petition over to S-E; they may use our polls as a guideline... should they follow through with our request, of course.
Anyway... this is interesting. I'll be thinking up some for the future. Anyway... this is interesting. I'll be thinking up some for the future. -------------------- |

Hmmmm... it seems quite a few things have been going on. Guess I can't exactly be of much help when I'm getting trampled upon by school work. Anyway... about the Sigs/Wallpapers... I am a little wary of who exactly to ask about this. You see, we can't just blurt out on some forum, the existance of this site, as to get some artists. By doing that, we would reveal the site before it is ready... which is specifically what we are trying to avoid doing.
Jake, what are your thoughts on this? I would gladly ask elsewhere, but I need to know if you have any guidelines we should follow when trying to give out this information to potential artists. I would like to keep this as much of a "secret" until the time of launch, if possible. However, I also realize that it kind of clashes with the whole idea of advertising to attract artists to help us out... which kind of puts me in a bind. Jake, what are your thoughts on this? I've been a bit busy of late, but your pleas for a petition with Schala have indeed been heard. And so, it shall be done. Of course... there is the whole coloring issue. Since it is a "specialized" petition just for you, I can keep the color perhaps... and just try to lighten it up... ALOT. Otherwise, I'll make her have a blue not too different from Marle. You have to consider, Schala and Marle are indeed related... so it wouldn't be THAT far off to consider the possiblity of them having a similar color-scheme.
I'll make up a draft... maybe two. Depending on how much time I have. *edit!* I just put together a rather quick version. It is at Geocities. You can take a look at it here: http://www.geocities.com/msanis88/CT_Remake_Petition_ver5_Schala.doc Tell me what you think about it, any changes you would like, etc. It really wasn't too hard to make at all. Though I am almost 100% certain some changes will be requested. I'll make up a draft... maybe two. Depending on how much time I have. *edit!* I just put together a rather quick version. That is strange. I haven't noticed any connection problems. I guess it has already been fixed?
*sigh...* I mostly came on to inform you guys that this week is being rather... horrible. What with all of the daily tests, meaningless homework, and of course... chaos with the Senior Project. I'll probably be able to check up no more than once a day. The bright side to all of this? The week is half-way over. *sigh...* I mostly came on to inform you guys that this week is being rather... horrible. Just thought it was worth mentioning. I DO have photoshop, and I do not see how it would be possible to remove the text you put in without damaging the picture itself. Of course, I'm an ameatur, so it might not be as impossible as I claim. For simplicity though, it may be best to seek out the orginal image... without that put in it. Then again... if you knew where that was... we wouldn't be having this predicament. Drats... -------------------- |
