Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI. They were jaw-dropping, visually spectacular, well-written, interesting films which have a lot going for them. Episode IV was the first, paving the way with its groundbreaking narrative and special effects, and establishing the stories of the Jedi, Rebel Alliance, Empire, and galaxy at large. Episode V was a bit subdued, but ultimately more satisfying in the end, thanks to its darker storytelling and world-building. Last but not least, Episode VI rounded out the trilogy by giving us a decisive conclusion to all the characters story arcs and finding a creative way to end the story (Endor, Death Star II, etc) . They all were spectacular films but I'd like to know which was your favorite. Which of these is your favorite and why so? Are there any OT characters you'd like to see in Episode VIII? Please elaborate and thanks for sharing. Which of these is your favorite and why so? Are there any OT characters you'd like to see in Episode VIII? Star Wars. A magically stunning and visually amazing treat that transcends timelessness. It changed the world, our imaginations, and how we approach film-making. Episodes V and VI were also amazing, and definitely stayed in the consciousness of popular culture seemingly forever. However, the prequels changed all that. With their abundance of computer generated imagery, unsympathetic characters, insipid pacing, and somewhat uninteresting plot-lines, they effectively split the fan base in half for sixteen years. This changed after Disney bought Lucasfilm and created Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With its coherent acting, return of fan favorites, an abundance of new characters who were well thought out, awesome practical effects, and nods to the original trilogy, it cleared the hole in many fans' hearts. With its emergence i ask: Do you prefer Force Awakens or Episode IV? Why or why not? Do you think its sequels will surpass it or not? May the force be with you. The Prequels.... Star Wars Episode I was released 16 years ago, in which it initially had tons of hype, only to be seen as an ultimately disappointing film. The same could be said about Episode 2. Episode 3 is either a love it or hate it film. Ever since Force Awakens was released, the prequels have been subject to tons of loathing and ridicule all over the internet. Many Star Wars fans go out of their way to insist the Prequels never happened.... while others are quick to say they actually like them. Personally, I don't like them, but I want to know what you think. Were the Prequels good or bad? Did they have any good things in them at all? Please share. I'd like to know. Sorry to burst your bubble, but.... Hydlide came out first. It was released on NEC PC-6001 on December 13, 1984. The NES/Famicom version, Hydlide Special, was released on March 18, 1986. It might only seem like a ripoff because of Avgn's comparisons between it and Zelda, and coming out much later. The version we're discussing is a porting disaster. The original PC version was actually a good game for its time. It was one of the earliest RPGs, along with Dragon Slayer. It had some innovations, such as regenerating health, switching between attack and defense mode, and saving and loading through passwords. Take this into account, please. -------------------- |

My last accomplishment was graduating from Seneca college. It doesn't seem like very much, but it is because many just drop out either from bad grades or turbulent tuition troubles. Also, I survived from a insipid viral disease. I forgot what its name was.... It made me drowsy and unable to move. I needed some Pepto Bismol to calm down. Its amazing how humans, through sheer willpower and crazy determination, can pull through just about anything. -------------------- |

Background:Joust is an action platforming game released by Williams Electronics in 1982. It was a very novel game, different from its competitors due to lack of shooting elements and lots of frantic, platforming action. Gameplay: Players immediately take the roles of the turbulent knights. Player one is a flying ostrich, while player two is a short stork. The joystick is used to move, and the action button is used to flap. Colliding causes you to collide frequently and lose your balance, resulting in an early, painless death. Two can play simultaneously. The goal is to kill all the enemies on screen. This is accomplished through stomping them on their fragile heads. There are four types of enemies, and those are Bounders, Hunters, hidden Pterodactyls, and Shadow Lords. Bounders are quite slow and have difficulty turning. Dismount one to get its egg. If not quick enough, it becomes a hunter. Hunters move with precision, as they can change their direction midair, as well as attack you at a high speed. Not killing its egg births a shadow lord. Shadow Lords are amazingly accurate and re-spawn very quickly, so abruptly intercepting them is key. After beating several enemies, you get an egg wave stage. It allows for points. There are also several strategies for the game. The first is using the gap in platforms, which allows for interception and safety. The second is strategic, timed flapping. Turning around, followed by intense flapping, allows for instant hovering. Using this lets you get the drop on enemies easily and also allows you to increase your elevation without getting abruptly attacked. 8/10 Graphics: For 1982, the graphics are impressive. The birds prance exquisitely, as they have clearly defined flight patterns and interesting walking animations. The knights are stunning, with acute visual flair and fancy little, detailed movements. The background and foreground is lively, with animated lava and detailed platforms. 10/10 Sound: The sounds are lovely. Ostriches gallop, condors flap, eggs drop, and lances slash, all with appropriate sound effects. While the game lacks background music, the sounds more than make up for it. Every attack, movement, and action is refurbished with expertise use of charming audio. 8/10 Addictiveness: The game is alluring. Playing it and mastering it helps draw many to it, encouraging you to try and try again. Its controls are precise, and add much novelty. The obstacles are inviting. 8/10 Story: It has no story. You're just knights exploring a cave. 1/10 Depth: The game has quite a bit, actually. Several strategies are required, and change the game when applied. 7/10 http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Joust/Walkthrough Difficulty: The game is hard. Spastic sprinting and frantic flying will get you killed. 8/10 Overall: Joust is quite the enjoyable game. Play it if you want a challenge, a pleasant distraction, or a grand old time. 9.6/10 Gameplay: Players immediately take the roles of the turbulent knights. Background: Venture is a maze, adventure game released in 1981 by Exidy. It stars Winky, a archer blob who enters labyrinths to collect treasure. There isn't much to it, seeing when it was made. I'll just explain the game's merits, in an attempt to see if the game will catch your interest. Gameplay: Pressing the action button shoots a yellow arrow, while moving the joystick adjusts Winky position. Pressing lightly allows Winky to change his orientation without moving, while pressing harshly moves him in one of eight directions. The player controls Winky, a red blob with a bow and arrow. Winky can shoot and kill enemies. The enemies include Room monsters and Hallmonsters. Room monsters can jump and dodge Winky's arrows. Some are simply indifferent, while others are merciless. The only two ways to kill them are either pining them to the wall or shooting them diagonally. Even when clearly dead, they can be threatening. If shot too soon after dying, they can regenerate easily. Touching their corpse will kill you. Hallmonsters can pop in and out of rooms, especially if you take too long. They can pass through the walls, and are completely invincible. Touching them means death. There are separate views, one of all the separate dungeons when traversing the world, and one that depicts the inside of one. Enemies exist everywhere, and can be encountered inside or outside of a dungeon. The two types of enemies are outer and inner creatures. Outer creatures are invisible, tricky to deal with, and are general annoyances. Avoiding them helps to enter a room safely. Inner creatures are inside a dungeon, and guard the treasure. Each room has about one treasure, and collecting it closes the room. You can enter freely before then. Collecting the treasure either changes the room or its monsters. When in a room, Winky must take the treasure and escape quickly. To aid this dilemma, Winky can kill guarding enemies in a room to secure the treasure. When four rooms of a dungeon are cleared, Winky can advance accordingly. 8/10 Graphics: The graphics are amazing (for 1981). Sprites pop and fizzle elegantly, while dungeons are detailed and animated. Every room has a special animation upon entering, and the enemies bounce, bop, shake, and slither to you in a fluid motion. The graphics shine with small details and just look good. 8/10 Sound: Like the sharp visuals, the sound illuminates the whole experience. The game has some background music, rare for its time, while also having satisfying sound effects for slaying monsters and collecting secret treasures. The music greatly enhances the atmosphere, and accompanies your adventuring. The tunes, while a bit repetitive, immerses you and satisfies your cravings. 9/10 Depth: This game is expansive, even today, thanks to its multiple rooms and traps. You can spend hours looking and still be hooked indefinitely. While not all treasures and rooms may be satisfactory, it is still a thrill to find, navigate, and explore them. 8/10 Story: It doesn't have much of one. It involves Winky entering a abandoned castle to capture its hidden treasure. 2/10 Addictiveness: The game really isn't that addictive, as It's actually quite simplistic. If you love dungeon crawling, it will leave you coming back for more and fulfilling your desires. 6/10 Difficulty: The game is quite difficult, actually. The traps are simple yet deceptive, and can kill you if not on guard. Enemies are strategically placed and prepared. Always approach with caution. 8/10 Overall: Venture is a very interesting game, as playing it will challenge your mind and skill. It's expansive enough to require strategy, and will usually have you coming to creative conclusions on how to solve problems. Give it a try, to test your prowess. It will surprise you. 7.8/10 Gameplay: Pressing the action button shoots a yellow arrow, while moving the joystick adjusts Winky position. There isn't much to compare to, seeing as how its quite different from the other games of its era. It's graphics were mostly a step up from most typical arcade space shooters, though not that groundbreaking. -------------------- |

What a passionate response! Good and evil really rather do depend on who's perspective it is. Honestly, I believe evil exists because mass murder just seems so wrong (Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki), and using force, corruption, or manipulation to gain power or destroy the object of your hatred, despite somewhat honorable intentions, is just sick. While you are entitled to your own opinion, I believe there is a huge difference between selflessness and selfishness. I'm exploring this topic because some things go way too far in the name of change or control (Terrorism), and I believe some actions are completely intolerable and usually can't be truly reasoned with or justified. Simply put, the ability to kill is undesirable, and doing it in the name of personal or economic gain is totally inconceivable. Death can bring about change, but also unearth destruction, which is why I firmly believe in good and evil. Anything related to death, crime, or manipulation, and abuse is also evil in my book. I'd think religious sacrifice is illogical because it benefits nobody. Hitler did rebuild Germany, but in the process ruined the lives of many others with actions that are universally known ( Invading France, The Holocaust, etc). Germans now can't stand the guy and refuse to acknowledge his existence by censoring Nazi references in modern entertainment media. Anyone's perspective and viewpoint can change over time, so anyone who killed many and was formerly considered a hero can be seen as a villain now (Andrew Jackson). The people who agreed with Hitler, while not truly loathsome, I would consider strange, because though Hitler had good intentions, what he was willing to do to satisfy those intentions was barbaric. Saving one country at the cost of dismantling others is truly undesirable. Perhaps it depends on if he seems sympathetic or not. Regarding the poison scenario, I would try the antidote on everyone frantically because I don't wan't to endanger everyone's lives and I'm strapped for time. The good or evil aspect of this would depend on the person's viewpoint of what actions seem merciful or cruelly merciless. Though, in my opinion, none of the actions would be evil, as they were all trying to work for a solution in an unstoppable crisis, so every action could be seen as morally correct, as they were all in the name of human relief. I wasn't trying to label it (sorry if it might seem so), i was wanting to explore the concept faithfully. A better question would be; Does evil exist? What counts as evil? Though, I am a firm believer in the concept, as I view some atrocities as completely unacceptable (Murder, rape, etc). I think a world with no rules would quickly collapse. I'm one for rules so I'd be incredibly suspicious knowing any moron could rob my house and not having any laws to punish them. I might be pessimistic, but I don't believe a utopia could exist, knowing how people will always battle for status and superiority. -------------------- |
