earthwarrior : Do we need to present some sort of proof that we won or what position we got? Like screenshots or something? I think it's best if we do, to avoid the possibility of sore losers complaining they didn't lose a match. I intend to do that anyways, but I just want to make sure. -------------------- |

Q : Okay, now you have started to distort what I've said. I didn't address anything you've said regarding the effects on other people lifes because I found that was irrelevant to the point I was making. I don't want to make an emotional appeal trying to convince people to commit / not commit suicide. This isn't the point. My point was, Something only has a meaning for those alive, therefore if you're not alive = it doesn't means anything. Doesn't mean you shouldn't ponder about people/things meaning to you, after all, we're all alive. But that wasn't the point, what I stated was that it was rational in my opinion, I didn't state it was correct or wrong, there's a difference. Not everything that's rational is correct. Not everything that is reasonable or justifiable is correct, we all should know that, it's completely obvious. Also, murder? Really, fallacies now? Just because suicide and murder both are related to dying, doesn't means they are similar situations. Yes you can choose to murder people as much as you can choose to commit suicide, but as far as I can tell, when you suicide, you are choosing to finish your own life, which you should have the right to do, since the life is yours, as much selfish as that may be. When you murder someone, you're doing so without the person allowing you to, nor having decided to die, otherwise it wouldn't be called "murder". I can smoke Cigarettes or Marijuana, both also being similar and prejudicing you, but are the consequences for smoking Cigarettes and Marijuana alike just because both can be smoked? I think not... Call me whatever you want, but I don't care if someone will or will not suicide because of what I say or don't. If I wanted to accomplish any of these, I wouldn't be discussing things on a perspective like that. Selfish or not, for me doesn't matters, what I'm discussing are the reasons people might have to justify what they think about committing suicide or not, I'm not asking if it's right or wrong or if people should or shouldn't do it. You can express these thoughts if you want, but that's not the discussion at hand. What I did in this thread was simply expose my point of view on the matter and explain the reasons as of why I have it, then asked for your opinions on the matter. You have the right to say and think whatever you want to, but you don't need to distort what I said because of that. You can, but that doesn't mean I'll accept it. GottlosMann : I share the same view as you on that matter. I see as if you have Alzheimer, then you are already dead. You can try to retard the process with medications and treatment, but at some point, there will only be your body left. Alzheimer is one of the things that make me think that finishing your consciousness, ends everything... Also, I would like to say I know a person that has Alzheimer. I used to talk with her when I was little, spend time at her house playing with her cat and such. Today she can't recognize me, nor anyone around her, nor does she still resembles anything she might have ever been in the past. Makes me pretty sad. Q : I see your point, but I'd like to bring a different perspective on the matter. Yes, the attitude of committing suicide is completely selfish, one cannot deny that. But selfish or not, after you die, it won't matter, you won't be conscious anymore to see, nor feel guilty about the consequences of your attitude. You can do these while you are still alive though, and also think about those that care about you, or things you might enjoy in life and these might even keep you alive, but the fact is that after suicide, none of these will mean anything. Selfishness, Compassion, Depression, Diseases, etc... Will all be meaningless. I agree that it's a selfish attitude, I would even go as far as to say that suicide might be the epitome of selfishness, but then again, the human being can't live without being selfish, even though at different levels. As I described and explained, MY view of suicide is rational to me. But I also agree with you that many people who commit suicide, usually are not being rational. Quite the opposite in fact, it's common for people to commit suicide simply from despair, so you can't say it's a rational attitude. But there are many reasons and circumstances for leading someone to commit suicide, we shouldn't generalize, each situation is different. And regarding whether or not should we "allow" people to decide upon suicide or not, and that being irresponsible... I completely disagree here. The world imposes many things upon people when they are born, there's a system, rules, laws and many other things that try to control and limit someone's attitude. I see being denied and prevented to decide what do with your own life, as if your life isn't really yours anymore to begin with. If you can't decide upon whether you want to live or not, then you don't own your life, someone else does. If that's the case, it might only be another motive for committing suicide, as a way to protest. I wouldn't do such a thing for this reason, nor am I saying people should, I'm just stating my point of view on the matter. Also, I would like to say I know a person that has Alzheimer. Hmm... though choice. If you ask me my favorite theme, I'd probably say (Haters gonna hate) Zero No Tsukaima 2 - Futatsu No Kishi Opening - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xGjkfg16ac But as for which is the best one for me, I would say probably Dantalian no Shoka, Both music and animation are incredible in my opinion. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2FGCFKFz3A But as for which is the best one for me, I would say probably Dantalian no Shoka, Both music and animation are incredible in my opinion. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2FGCFKFz3A -------------------- |

So, This is usually a delicate subject to discuss for some people, and I've been curious to see the opinions upon the matter here on Vizzed. Just please, try and be open-minded if possible. What are your thoughts regarding the idea of committing suicide? Do you think it can be justified? Depends on the situation? It's a coward attitude? What do you think of it? As for my personal opinion upon the matter, I find the idea of committing suicide completely reasonable, at least most of the times. The reason for me to think like that is somewhat simplistic. I consider the mind, in this case the idea of consciousness specifically, as the place where every single thing exists. "Everything" only exists on your mind, because you've learned about it. Now, most of the cases of people that commit suicide, is related to some sort of frustration or being incapable of handling a matter or situation. These can be seen as challenges of the Life, Probation, etc... There might be many solutions to a situation, but sometimes there are situations that might be (or seem) way beyond your power. But the thing is, the problems, situations and everything around us, only exists if you acknowledge it's existence, it's only a problem, if you decide to classify it as one. Therefore, if you end your consciousness, the problem doesn't exists, which can be seen as a solution. You can also simply change your view on the matter at hand, but people seems to have problems doing that, since it's common for someone to fail when trying to convince people that want to suicide, to give up or change their mind. If you have read it so far, You obviously noticed I believe that when you die, It's actually over. I don't want for this to be a debate about religion, but I should probably clarify that I don't believe in life after death, since it lacks concrete evidence to back it up. Besides faith, there's no way to prove it and since I'm agnostic about the things I consider myself incapable to prove, I don't believe on it. Now that I got this out of the way, what are your opinions?? Feel free to share. What are your thoughts regarding the idea of committing suicide? Do you think it can be justified? Yes I am. I am also agnostic. Some years back, I wouldn't be confident to say that straight out, but nowadays, I honestly don't care anymore and I also have no reason to believe any specific religion of any sorts. Besides faith, I can't think of a logic way to prove the existence of a God, no matter what God is it. I'm fine with some things about religion and I even agree with many of the lessons that some of them teach, while I disagree with others, but I don't see any reason to adopt any specific religion and God as the truth behind something as big and complex as The Life, The Universe and everything else. Just because it's something that bothers you and might make you uncomfortable, I just think you have to be too presumptuous to consider yourself capable of knowing such complex matters, while being here for such a short time and being such a small part of the Universe. I do understand why people care about that matter and I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue these answers if it really bothers you, but I still see that as being presumptuous, nevertheless. Nowadays, I don't consider myself, nor anyone I know, nor any knowledge I'm aware that exists, as being even close to be able to explain such a complex matter, so I chose not to care so much about something like that, it would only be a waste of my time. Instead, i decided to start worrying about something I think I'm actually able to understand and explain. I could still be wrong and I'm always willing to change my point of view, as long as there's a logical reason for me to do so, but today, that's what I believe in. Cheers. For me, it depends on the situation. I don't look down on swearing, but neither do I look up on it. If I find it necessary to, I will swear without any doubts, if I don't, I wont. Simple as that. If not as an occasional impulse I might have sometimes, I would say I don't swear a lot. It just doesn't feels necessary most of the times, considering how many words I can use to express myself better. -------------------- |

No, I don't believe in Karma, even though I do believe in cause and effect. Both may seem like the same, but they're not. The probability of something good happening to you if you do good things is increased, the same applies for bad things, but that's it. There are many factors that can change the courses and consequences of your actions, including external factors that might be out of your control. Karma would imply that these wouldn't affect the consequences, since what would affect the consequences is the Karma itself. That's my point of view on the matter at least, I find it arguable, but it's still what I think. Logically, you shouldn't trust 100% anyone, besides yourself. You can try and expect something from someone, but besides your own conscious, you can't know 100% what to expect from them. So I look at this attitude as Irrational, even though it's pretty common. Nevertheless, I myself have developed a way to know whether or not can I trust someone or not, and how much can I trust them. Time is the main factor, but there are other things i ponder when deciding whether or not I trust someone, such as the attitudes and so on. I don't have many people I trust a lot and as I said I don't think I should trust 100% on anyone besides myself, not even my mother, who's the person I trust most, nor my best friend, even though I do trust him a lot. "Why" I have a Cat? Simply because I could get myself attached to it (which is unusual to me). I didn't pretend to have a Cat, but I'm glad I do now, he helps to get my mind rid of problems sometimes, not to mention the laughs. My mother found our cat when it was still a kitten. It was wounded (apparently, someone stabbed him) and brought him home to take care of it until he healed. I ended up getting attached to him somehow, and convinced my mother to keep him. -------------------- |

I've been clinically diagnosed with depression, and let's just say "some other stuff". Not that it matters or anybody cares anyways. The things I've been going through, led me to don't deal with it so well, but lately, I'm working to improve on that matter. Nowadays, I've been trying to occupy my mind with things I enjoy, so pessimistic and obsessive thoughts won't get the hang of me. Sometimes it's hard, but I've been trying. I also take medications to help, which I'm fine with, and also seems to have been making a lot of difference, even though the Placebo Effect is still a possibility (I don't care though, as long as it's working). This happens to me all the time... You start thinking about something without even noticing that. On the beginning, it would bug me a lot, but nowadays I kinda got used to it, since it happens so often. People shouldn't worry about that, I guess it's just a consequence when you use it so much. You see, in my case, even with Portuguese being my primary language, I use English a lot, so this happens often, even though I learned English mostly by myself (English classes at school here in Brazil are almost useless, especially on Public School...). -------------------- |

If I had to change, it would probably be for Tsuzuriko. I use that nickname on many places actually, but at the time i joined vizzed, it didn't come to mind. Tsuzuriko is a character from the eroge Kara No Shoujo, for those that might be curious. -------------------- |

Hmm, 9 years coma eh? Knowing myself, I would probably consider suicide, but let's just say suicide is out of the question... I guess I would try and have a different lifestyle than the one I used to have. Disregarding rehabilitation process and needing to find a place to live, a job and such, after 9 years spent without doing anything, I don't think I could simply go back to my old lifestyle even if I wanted to. So I'd rather try something new or unusual that i find interesting, either that I couldn't or didn't want to do for some reason. Basically find a new meaning to my life. Hi, I have uploaded some videos, all of which were uploaded to Vizzed account. I'll try to finish Road Rash, then I'll start uploading PSX videos. Here goes a list:

Thanks again by the way. Cheers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dc1LlbV1hE / Road Rash - Complete Level 1 - 26:02 - 1000 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b6KuTxf4MQ / Road Rash - Complete Level 2 - 30:27 - 1500 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBbgboCaEo8 / Road Rash - Sierra Nevada / Level 3 - 5:17 - 500 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV3eZlaFepg / Road Rash - Pacific Coast / Level 3 - 5:04 - 500 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjmumM5-a0Q / Road Rash - Redwood Forest / Level 3 - 5:32 - 500 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_wh9WEuItY / Road Rash - Palm Desert / Level 3 - 5:24 - 500 Viz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycrr-R3GNgE / Road Rash - Grass Valley / Level 3 - 6:06 - 500 Viz Oh and a question regarding recording PSX - Which would you prefer David, many shorter videos of a same game, which I could upload periodically, or longer videos instead, like 1 hour and above? I've tried Freemake to convert a Genesis video. The original file is ok, but it's too big and whenever i convert it, the screen gets stretched. I've tried different resolutions but it only made things worse. Any suggestions?? I'm using MP4/H.264 encoding btw, but i tried avi and it didn't change anything at all.
Sorry if this is the wrong thread to reply, but i couldn't find anywhere that seemed more proper than here. EDIT: So, I've managed to solve the problem. In order for the video screen not to strech, Ironically I have to select the option to stretch the video and then manually select the resolution. Thanks satanos for the help.
