Being a fan of Dark Matter (and any game with a futuristic setting), it would be great to see areview for it in the near future. Good luck on that.

It just came out on PS2, and I beleive it's been out for XBOX ... Ive seen it refered to as "Black Ops" for the XBOX, but not sure if that's a working title or not.
Pretty good game though. FPS are like my 3rd favorite though (Survival Horror being my first and Rpg being my second).

Mystic Lore: Revisited

Okay, to start, I try to stay 100% objectional and fair in my reviews, finding good and bad points of a Rpg. Let's get started, shall we?

Graphics: 2/10
Alright, I have nothing against using default graphics in a game. I mean, for a lot of beginners, that is all they can work with. So Defaults are ok, and this game used defaul everything. Characters, tilesets and BGM. Some of the stuff was poorly done, Sadly. The treasure chests were just placed on the maps, without using them as an event. So yeah, they had those annoying blue boxes around them.

Storyline: 1/10
Did it have a storyline? I just remember my ship crashing and being on an island looking around for a guy named Gandalf (very original ) Aside from looking aimlessly on the island for some elusive magician, you have to stop off at pretty poorly made 'cities' and talk to random NPC's. The first guy who joins you, Leon, just says "oh yeah, you must be Ark. Gandolf told me about you. you'll need to me bash the monsters for you". Hmmm ... it could have been improved upon.

Difficulty (out of 5 stars) ****
Characters are poorly equipped, it's hard to get equipment, but when you do finally level up, some of the monsters are just way too easy to beat. Definantly not for someone who hates leveling for hours on end.

Overall
I didn't get much enjoyment out of this game. No offence to the author at all, but maybe using some better event scripting, thinking through your story and spending some time on the maps your game could be solid. Also, a good thing to do is make the enemies and random encounter 'grow' with your character. You don't want a level 1 party batteling lv. 15 monsters. It's just too difficult.

Overall Rating: 3/10

Final: Only download if you need a few hours to kill .... like 2-3 hours to be exact .... and if you like really challenging games!

wow .... what im surprised by is that your school has a milkshake machine! i mean, at my school we were lucky to have a soda machine (which dispensed flat, warm soda btw) and air conditioning! I was kinda bummed when they got the co'ed bathrooms though ... but at least the cardboard divider was easy to cut through, or stab a pencil through. :-D

Hey, does anyone remember rmdownloads.com from back in the day? Well the above link is an archive of a lot of their old games!

Sadly, RPG Maker Downloads shut down a few months back, but while searching online, I discovered this archive, with some great games including my all time favorite Dawn of Darkness by Solik. There is also a download for DoD Legends: Nightwish also by Solik. Now all I need to do is find an old archive for Weapons and Warriors by Ruby_Weapon (who was one of my old RPG Making pals). Be sure to download Dawn of Darkness (Full version RPGMaker 95) because it is a true classic. If you've already played it, you know it is! Don't deny it :-P

Well, hope you guys and future game creators find these fun, inspirational and interesting!

DoD Legends (or 2): Nightwish (2k) anyone who is an oldbie to the RPG Maker community will know that Solik used the name Nightwish after being inspired by his favorite bad of the same name!
Sunset Over Imdahl (2k) A must download. Custom maps, menus and characters! Gripping storyline. Not sure if this is a full version. The full version can be found at http://www.gamingw.net just incase it's a demo.
Shadowed Sun (95) Awesome game by Bulldog
Mr. Big T (2k) funny game, good download ... demo i think.

The rest I've never played, so I can't really give a good review. I'll try to DL them sometime and give you guys a good review.

Alright, I'll break my review down into a few parts:

OVERALL GAMEPLAY

each will be rated with a ?/10 system .... let's get started

GRAPHICS: 8/10

Grahpics were above average. Average being 5 obviously. I would have given the game a 9-10/10 graphic-wise if the game had lived up to the hype of being able to just randomly blow stuff up from buildings to trees etc. I hate it in a game when you shoot an RPG rocket at a tree and the tree doesn't even get freakin' damaged ... scorched even! It almost makes me cry! Black promised this (by reviews online, comercials the case etc). Now dont think every game where trees dont scorch will get a bad rating by me, but ones that promise realistic graphics will. Other than that, great graphics. Weapons looked nice, enemies reacted nicely. I liked the lighting effects. When I got to blow stuff up, it also looked realistic and the exploding barrels really nuked the buildings nice. I like destruction. And violence.

SE:9/10

Sounds effects fit the action nicely. Guns make clicking noises. The bullets and gunshot sounds were cool (uzi was fast and frenzied, while the sniper rifle made a loud bang and made the reload after each shot. Cool.). Enemy soldiers shout at you in russian. Explosions sounded nice too. Explosions are great!

BGM5/10

Decent at most. I really didn't like the bgm that much. It was pretty bland and repetive. Bland and repetive really annoys me. But the rest of the game was tight and kept me interested so I can bypass the bland music. (or lack of)

DIFFICULTY/AI:9/10

Hmmm pretty challenging. I love those games were you have to use cover, worry about enemies flanking you (especially in higher difficulties) and where you cant just run through each level blasting everything in sight. BORING! Black varied it up, gave you different options. Do you want to take cover from a distance and blast at the enemy compound, or do you just want to throw a frag or shoot and RPG through the window and take them out? Your choice. The enemies will react, they will run when you throw a grenade at them, or duck for cover when you shoot a rocket at them. Nice.

OVERALL

A great game. Definant classic for fans of the FPS genre. If you like a challenging, decently run game. Try this. If you're not really big on FPS or you just like to run around blasting everything WITHOUT any challenge, then stay away and go play some Grand Theft Auto.

OVERALL SCORE: 7/12

ANALASIS: If you like FPS, a good go. At least rent it first.

yeah there's a lot of bad reports on myspace. i was watching the news and saw the stories about petophiles, rapists etc. so aside from mindless crumbling of society ... myspace is also a great outlet for freaks. hmmm ... hahaha

and as for those kids who are putting hacking software in the school pc's just to get to myspace .... maybe it's time for rehab .... ;-P

i have a myspace account and it doesnt take away from my life at all. i check it every so often (just because i have nothing better to do) and my girlfriend does too, but we dont take it to the bedroom, ya know? it's just a stupid website. Satanic? Maybe. Entertaining? to some. A good way to meet little kids? For petophiles. So myspace has it's thing for everyone who likes it. I happen to like it because I can keep in touch with people who I've lost touch with over the years. Almost everyone on my friend list is someone I went to school with, worked or whatever.
And yes, I don't beleive that a 40 year old man should be able to check a 13 year old kid's profile, but hey, what can you do? Some people are just weird.
