I'd think for emulation purposes an i5 with 2 GB or RAM or so and a decent GPU would work for that. A Dual Core CPU may be acceptable too. Without knowing what your friend had I can't be sure. I thought you meant PC games.

Also, how serious you are. Do you want everything maxed?

As long as you don't have to change the motherboard I'm pretty sure you can replace the CPU and not have to install windows again.

I've built mine from scratch.

The CPU will depend on what type of motherboard you have and what socket that board uses.

The primary hard drive cannot be changed without re-installing windows or using some sort of imaging program. I'm not sure how it would work with Windows activation as you'd still have it on the same computer.

It depends on what kind of gaming you want to do.

Have not used the nook, but I would think the nook color would have similar problems to the iPod and iPad due to it's LCD screen. The Kindle on the other hand doesn't use LCDs, it's like reading a book and with it's wirelss off you can have the thing run for nearly a month on a single charge. I just let mine go to sleep, pretty much never turn it off.

You may outta consider getting the 3G version, if you plan to just read at home the Wi-fi only is fine, but if you plan to take it elsewhere and want to get books on the fly 3G version is what you want.

They could of hacked it via your email it self, when you opened a different email and so now your account perodically does this.

Or it could simply be mirroring the To address to hide it's sender.

Anyways need some more info, are you running antivirus?

What exactly is slow? Your internet connection? Is it for all sites?

But what device is your speakers set to? It could be on the wrong device.

What device is listed as providing sound?

icrazyforpokemon : Spybot and Malware bytes aren't AV programs. Spybot is anti-spyware, which most AV programs take care of now. Malware Bytes does search for Malware but only when you tell it to.

Have you tried:

1 Using headphones to see if you get anything?
2 Changing the speakers from the front panel to the back if they are in the front.

Just to clear a few things up.

Hacking can only be as harmful as the person wants it to be. Most of the time hacking is used to get your information. They may install a payload or backdoor to allow them to keep getting to your info, but they are probably NOT going to destroy your files. If they wanted to they could easily add a virus or worm to do it. But generally hacking is much worse for your personal information than your computer.

Malware is just a general term for viruses, trojans, etc. It's not really a proper choice here. As it encompasses viruses.

Virus in the strictest sense is a file that infects one and makes and proceeds to infect other files. Trojan Horses are similar expect they usually take over a system file. There are a few other pieces of malware out there.

As Madus pointed out worms can be very dangerous as they can self-propagate without any user interaction. However, most of the time, they are simply used to backdoor and hack the machine. However they can be used to delete files etc.

As for which one is the most dangerous, it honestly just depends on what type it is. Every one of them can be dangerous to the computer. Aside from the virus which is specifically used to cause harm, the others can also get personal information in addition to causing computer problems.

This could be almost anything from drivers, to hardware to cord issues. It could be a problem in window 7. You could have it muted or turned down. Without a lot of information it's really tough to determine what the problem is.

Not only do they use more resources and try to do the same jobs, they can also attack each other. I wonder if he is talking about having Spybot, Malware bytes, and something else like that installed. I'm not sure how a computer could run properly with 3 good anti-virus programs installed....

Pick one and go with that. I believe I'm changing AVs once my AVG is up.
