You know... I can't help but laugh a little upon seeing that most of the members of this, including myself, happened to miss the meeting.

Jake, did you guys still have the meeting? If so, were any decisions made? Any important things we should know?

Unfortunatley, I was recently informed that I have a dentist appointment at around 5 P.M. (EST), hence I may not make it. If I can't I suppose it can't be helped. If I don't make it, I'd at least like to see any conclusions that arrise from that meeting... though I suppose that is kind of an obvious request.

Had a talk with Jake the other day, one topic was in regards to the exact expectations of the merger. Thus a few things were filled out. Now that the whole scenario has been clearly explained, I accept the idea of a merger.

Here are the details:
- There will not, in any way, be a merger of petitions. They shall remain seperate.
- A new website, not quite as "advanced" as the current one, will be used as the "home" of both pages.
- Despite their being a new "home" for the petition, the current site will remain up for the moment. However, it will not act as the "home" of our petition anymore, and thus, will not recieve any updates (if there are any to make).
- The coders of this site shall be provided by Wayne.

The idea definitely brings some change to the current situation. I am little disappointed that this change would bring about the loss of the flash website (in essence, anyway). However, I can also admit that the Flash website has only brought us down due to the difficulty in updating it and adding links/images to it. Obviously, the idea could only bring MORE advertisement of our petition, because whoever visits the site to sign the Novel petition (or at least check it out), will also see our petition, and could potentially be another person to gather signatures for us. Furthermore, since the work of making the site will be mostly done by Wayne's coders... there won't be any additional strain on us in the process. It just seems like a win-win situation with this description. Is there something I'm missing?

Combine? While it is definitely worthwhile to work together in regards to our aspirations, I don't think it wise to completely merge the two projects. While Chrono Trigger getting remade is definitely a possibility, I have a hard time believing S-E would actually release a novel using a game's storyline. I just... don't think it would work. Afterall, some people might be turned off from signing since they might believe the petition's request would be impossible to achieve. This is specifically why the two petitions shouldn't merge.

In other words, if we combine forces just to promote each other... I think that is ok. I wouldn't go much farther than that though. Of course... I am definitely able to be swayed, if you can give me good reason to believe it will actually help.

*edit*
Just got another email from Wayne. I've been getting the growing impression that a meeting between our two groups on this subject is a necessary step to take. Thus I have recommended we have one. We've been debating over this for a little while, and furthermore... we haven't even HEARD the thoughts of the other team. The only one we've heard from so far is Wayne. I want to hold a meeting so all of our questions can be heard, all can be answered, and we can make a decision on just what specifically we will be doing... all in one single bound. Kind of like hitting three birds with a pebble.

I'm sure the other team has some concerns as well. I think we need to address that as well. I also think we need to address just how strongly "merged" we will be. We obviously have varying opinions on this; thus I feel it needs to be discussed.

*sigh...* Oh the horror. Sorry for my lack of uh... existence, of late. I had mid-terms... and then I had various Senior Project problems. Anyway, I've looked over what is going on.

Anyway... I shall try to make my replies to every post I missed simultaneously. Not sure how well that'll work...

Ok... here it goes...
Posting this information in other areas is a definite plus. There can be nothing LOST in the process. On the other hand, will they accept our story? IGN, for example, would be a GREAT place to release this information. On the other hand, IGN is a pretty big gaming site. They may not even listen to or even SEE our request. They obviously can't reply to every letter, and furthermore, even if they did... it might just be an impossible request. Our original idea was to attack forums at first, try to gradually build hype from there, and then eventually (after we got a name for ourselves) start requesting our story to be put upon gaming websites such as IGN. The problem is though, that we haven't recieved the support we need to really pull this off. We know there are plenty of CT fans out there. The problem is, is their urge to see a CT remake greater than their urge to be lazy? To sign a petition means to get up and do something. Then they would have to spread the word. Humans are abnormally lazy these days, and perhaps that is the greatest downfall of this petition. Afterall, if the fans themselves are too lazy to print out a document, sign it, and mail it out (they don't even HAVE to go out and get signatures), then there will only be problems in the future as well. This in mind, we'll have to hope that the news (once we start releasing it again) reaches the ears of people who actually intend to do something with the information. Otherwise, this problem may just continue.

I too feel it is time to take some action. After all, if not now... when? We aren't, at this rate, going to jump up a few hundred signatures to impress future visitors of the site. In fact, even with my stuff turned in... if I can actually meet up with the people who would sign it, we wouldn't increase by a truely significant amount. This in mind, there is no benefit in waiting. If we wait, our project will only collect dust. Quite frankly, we've all worked on this for some time now... and I'm sure we all want to see something come out of it in the end. It is a necessity for us to get the information out, and furthermore, to excite the masses enough so that they actually go through with filling out our petition and sending it to Jake. I suppose it takes more will-power to fill out a hand-signed petition, and again, that is probably why we require our potential signers to feel enthusiastic about the petition. If they do not, the case is, they simply won't have the will to go about with the signing process.

Props, I like the article. Though, I am not sure if you are accurate with "experiencing a satisfying amount of success". Then again, such a quote varies upon how it is looked upon. Afterall, perhaps we are satisfied with our current number of signatures. At the very least, you could call it a play on words.
Regardless, I think it is overall a good article. I think it will grab attention, and that is specifically what we need.

The article does not seem to be made solely for the use of slashdot. On that respect, it does not necessarily have to be put towards solely slashdot. It couldn't be a bad thing to get the news as widespread as possible. It could only inform more potential signees in the process. We probably should think of where else, specifically, we could put it.

It seems we all are in a similar situation, or at the very least, realize that not much is getting done. By the way, I did cover the CTRP. I posted about the launch quite some time ago. The only person to respond was Galidan... I think. Then again, I can't find that post now, so maybe it got removed or something. To be honest though; it probably wasn't that great a place to post it. I posted in a topic concerning the ARTWORK of the petition, not really the petition itself. In a sense, perhaps people who didn't want to look in on that thread got left out on the news.

Anyway, I suppose I agree. Props, I think your method would have been good... but the collection is taking too long! We have just us, and not all of us are able to get it immediately in due to conflicting schedules and such. As such, we are getting a miniscule number of signatures over a large period of time. As such, it would probably be good to discuss just how we are to proceed. I think we need to advertise, as mentioned previously, but just how much? Should we go all-out?

The last time I checked; Props had the finished letter to slash-dot. If anyone can contact him; I'm sure he'd be willing to submit if we asked. I suggest if we do submit to slashdot though, that we also submit to other locations as well.

I think if we are able to collect any signatures, we should collect them ourselves and then give that person an extra, blank copy of the petition to work on. That way we wont lose any signatures due to laziness, and wont lose any due to lack of networking.

My thoughts exactly. I just don't think my friends would actually go through with it. Hence I pretty much have to handle most of the burden. Which of couse, is a pain... considering I usually can't meet with certain people as I don't go to school with them... and that is pretty much the only place I go to for the most part. Meh... well, when I'm done Jake, you'll probably have an additional twenty. That is, of course, if my patience in waiting doesn't run out. Oh, and good luck with your future projects.

Hey everybody. Been a while since anyone posted around here. I guess thats because most of our job is already done. Me? I've been EXTREMELY busy. Even more so than in my previous trials. I guess that is saying alot. School work still pretty much ruling what little time I have to myself. Things are starting to get pretty serious with my Senior Project, hence even more of what little time I have has been put in to that. Regardless, I somehow managed to get a little time in to take a look at these forums.

Jake, exactly how many signatures have you received thus far? I know this is actually quite early to ask, but I'm just wondering if our advertising has done any good. I haven't advertised that much, as a recommendation from Props since we both agreed that people coming to see a petition having 0 total signatures would probably give up on the petition since they would feel it would have no chance of success. However, I do also realize that we need to have some initial signatures. As of now, I have about ten signatures. I can probably get the other ten if I manage to actually GET OUT and collect them. Unfortunately, this has been my case for all this time... which now that I look back on it... seems somewhat pathetic considering the massive period of time between the launch and this current date. How exactly have the rest of you done with your petitions? Hopefully better than myself...

You know, a skilled hacker can get by Nortan Antivirus and many other kinds of antivirus software with relative ease. The usual case is that the person would just disable the antivirus software, and then proceed to screw around with the system. In other words... they won't protect you if a person REALLY wants to mess up your computer.

I don't know about the worlds WORST virus, but an old acquantaince I once knew, and who was more skilled than me at the time, had access to a rather powerful virus. I believe it was called "Quake". I'm not sure on the specifics, as I never saw it in action, but according to his claims... it would basically overclock your computer to the point in which it would severely overheat... thus setting your computer aflame. Not only will it destroy your computer, but in severe cases... it could destroy your house... or even you. He was a kind of shady guy... and I became even more wierded out by the guy after I noticed that he began hacking in to various websites. To be honest, I'll never know if it was the truth, but if it was... that'd be one hell of a virus to catch.

Hmmmm...

Yes, I heard of this a while ago. I also agree with this. Sony produces CDs. However, that is as far as their part of the deal should go. I use their CDs to copy data. Whether or not they like that data should not impact me in any way.

I guess it is a good thing that I do not typically buy Sony CDs. Believe me though; their little protection service will be broken through relatively quickly. If people want to use those CDs for certain purposes, they won't stop because Sony put up a little protection. There are two possiblities. Either people will stop using Sony CDs, or they will just use software a group is BOUND to make at some point in time to remove that protection. In other words, I don't AGREE with what they are doing... but I don't think it will really effect us.

Probably some bandwidth problems. Give it a try later and see what happens. There really is no way I can get it to you otherwise, unless you give me your email address.

Saridon seems to have given us a nice little Christmas present. He completed his last two tasks and sent them to me today. He made a wallpaper, as well as a signature. I'll post them for you to take a look.

Here you go:
http://www.geocities.com/msanis88/sigsandwalls.zip

The signature and wallpaper are in .psd format. I changed the signature and converted it to .jpg format so that even a person without photoshop can at least say they support the petition with the signature, just like the previous signature submission. I suggest you include the .psd version though, so that if a person WANTS to put their name, they can. If you don't want to include it in the main download, it couldn't exactly hurt to put it in the Extra Downloads. Actually, Jake, if you can, could you put the Ayla signature (in .psd format) in the Extra Downloads section? Just a thought...

Happy Holidays everybody. With any luck, perhaps I can get an Epoch. That'd be awesome.

Oh yeah... I forgot about that tactic. I suppose I see what you mean. Afterall, if a group of people come on over to find no signatures at all, they might get discouraged. The problem is, getting the signatures registered over with Jake might take well... quite a while. We can't really send our signatures over until we are ABSOLUTELY sure that we've obtained each and every one of them from the fans we know in our area. Then you have to consider that we then would have to mail it out; which also might take some time. It might take (and probably will take), at a minimum, a month for this process to complete.

It seems we have to talk about just WHEN we plan to submit this. It can't be too late, though we really shouldn't be doing it with no signatures obtained either. I think we need to clarify this. Any thoughts?

*edit*
It seems Saridon is still working on the artwork, actually. I didn't think he was, as I didn't hear much from him for quite some time. It seems the last few weeks have been very demanding of his time, and understandably so, and thus he has given me a report claiming that he is continuing. Here is his email:

sorry about the wait the last few weeks have been abit demanding of my time
ive got the wall 90% done and will finish it and the sig later tomorrow.

after im done with the sigs/walls just give me a email if you need any more
help with anything.

oh and with my (not much) knowlage with movie editing i could put together a
little 'promotional trailer' for the pettion for posting around/advertising.

oh and might i suggest with the pettion sending S-E of japan clips and
things of some of the other chrono projects (only one with no risk of being
shut down i.e the ones S-E already knows about or the music ones).
to show that the fans devotion to keeping the series alive, just a
thought....

It seems he has given us an opening for further assistance, as well as some recommendations. What we do with it is pretty much up to us I suppose.

At a minimum I shall have one page (twenty signatures) filled out. I know people who probably would be interested, but I don't often get out to see them with the obscene amounts of (mostly school-related) work I do.

I have advertised on various forums. A pretty decent amount of people seemed interested; others just showed their lack of enthusiasm. We should most-definitely have over 100 signatures in this "first wave" of sorts; in fact, we'll probably have over 200. Keep in mind; this is mostly just from the staff members, so there is no telling what the other participants may bring in to play.

What ever happened to that slashdot article? Are you currently in the process of writing up a nice revised one for us Props? We need to be as well-known as possible in order for this to succeed. If there are other places we could potentially "advertise", we might want to consider them particularly soon.

Rocky? Ahhhh... yes... Rocky. I thought you had a particular picture you wanted me to use of him; hence I was waiting for you to post it. If you don't, that is fine. I won't be able to look around for it probably 'till the weekend though.

...You know Jake, I can't really say I'm surprised by what interested you in CT. That sounds like something I could expect from you.

...and soon we'll find out he is an avid fan of Metroid, FF10, FFX-2, and every other game on the market having "hot" female characters.

Hehe... don't mind being too blunt in your criticism, eh Stoney? If I had to make one criticism, it would be that it is too long. What I did when writing my article was pretty much just look over other slashdot articles... and then attempted to match the format as best I could. Anyway, I don't really mind if Stoney's article is used, so feel free to play around with that one if you want Props.

Ummmm...

I was just kind of joking about before. I don't really think it is necessary to reveal ALL of us when we are merely giving the public information about the project. Jake is necessary since he is the leader; however... we aren't particularly a completely necessary detail. If the public wishes to find out about all of the members; they can easily find our names on the website anyway. Considering this... I'd have to say no. We don't really need to be mentioned. Of course... my opinion alone doesn't really warrant that. I'm sure others would voice their opinions if they felt otherwise.

Hmmmm... ok. So we're just going to tweak the current one then? That's fine I guess. Just post whatever you come up with and we'll take a look over it.

Yeah... I was particularly favorable of the chicken innards as well...

Yeah and I pretty much agree with Prop, we need this to sound as professional as possible. Though I do give you credit for not being like this: "U shld come 2 teh CTRPG site. They is awsum. They is tring 2 get SE 2 reMak Chrno Tigger. Plz help thme. PLZ. They is tryiing 2 get 25000 sigs. YOU BETTER COME SIGH IT!!!!!!!"

Lol. That would be pretty funny if someone sent that in. But yeah if I see the above; I'm not coming to the site. Yours did sound a whole lot better than that.

Yea... I may lack professionalism, but I'm not exactly idiotic. Anyone handing that in to slashdot would likely have no more than half a brain... and perhaps some added mental defects. I guess the only worse possiblity is if it was written completely in 1337.

I had a feeling the most criticism would come from you Props. Of course; rightfully so. We want to make the article as best we can before we submit it, afterall. My English teacher and friends claim I happen to be an imaginative writer at times; though my engineering teacher constantly bashes me for lack of professionalism in my writing (writing technical documents requires A LOT of professionalism). In that sense, I can fully understand your argument.

I fully agree with your claims in regards to professionalism. People just pay more attention to something sounding like it is written by a professional. Unfortunately, though I realize this, I am by no means a good writer in that regard. It probably would be good to have you help with this, as I know you happen to be quite good with these kinds of things.

So then... it seems we are left with two options.

We can either fix up the current article (if possible), or we could start from scratch. Your call Props.

*Edit*
Totally fine with you being the "fearless, valiant, and very handsome". Of course; then we'd have to make classes for everyone. That'd be freaky.

Apocalypse the unhappy ECET student stuck in a dark room... forever.

Propagator4 the wise-yet-evil guy with crazy black magic added for no good reason.

Stoney the insane hobo throwing assorted chicken parts at shopright employees.

Michaelvash the... the... Nintendo... enthusiast?

...I think that sounds accurate enough.
