tgags123 : Whether or not we have the choice to harm ourselves is irrelevant to whether or not it is a crime. We are free to do what we want, but according to my definition, a crime is a crime regardless of whether someone is free to do this or that. What it all boils down to is intent.

That said, not all crimes are created equal. I acknowledge that a crime as I define it means that there will be actions, even many perhaps, that require no trial by jury. There are misdemeanors less than misdemeanors that can be taken to court.

There is never a crime without a victim. But in every case of crime, that victim is, at the very least, ourselves. If we commit a crime, it damages our self-esteem and causes us to feel shame.

You could also define crime as this: Any action that causes harm to ourselves or someone else without just cause. That said, we can commit a crime in which the only victim is ourselves. Self-mutilation and suicide, by that definition, is crime. Overeating is a crime. Undereating is a crime. Yes, it's a very broad definition, but it makes sense.

That said, there are cases in which the law of the land isn't sufficient for the fuller law of justice. Justice requires that we follow the law, but not when following the law creates chaos. A moral compass is required to sift that which is correct from that which is wrong.

2016, iirc. I threatened to kill myself and my family, I went to a mental hospital where I and others were mistreated, and I hated society as a whole. The suffering I endured by being even mildly mistreated by others was magnified by my opinions and habits, and I wanted to die.

Since then, I have learned to see the good in people I once hated. Enjoying life is sometimes very hard, but we don't have to make it harder. To think I could come to trust and love people I thought were responsible for my misery! I've come so far. I trust that we all can grow past where we were to become something glorious.

I don't think Marijuana should be recreationally legalized overall. It is my opinion that any recreational use of drugs (overall) is immoral. Yes, it's enjoyable, but it puts the focus on one person: Self. And I am of the opinion that self-fulfillment is inseparably tied to the fulfillment of others.

That said, I recognize that marijuana can have positive effects on health, and I recognize Prohibition didn't work. But the reason I believe it didn't work is because not of how strict it was, but how forceful. Those who drank alcohol or created it were embarrassed publicly. No one should be shamed or belittled because they choose to participate in recreational drug use, even if it is immoral.

So why am I against it? Because there is widespread potential for abuse. You can grow your own weed. You can get it publicly. It creates a culture in which the focus is on getting a fix, as small or as high as it may be, at the cost of things that are more beneficial not only to others, but to self.

Another reason is the effects I've experienced myself. I don't smoke weed and never have, but had some neighbors that were busted for growing it. I inhaled it. It was a pleasant smell, frankly. But it was one that caused me to feel...not in control. Not as alert. Duller. And I want to be as sharp as I can be. If weed affects me this way, surely it affects others this way. And while I like the idea of people being in control of what they take into their bodies, I also want to promote a culture of people that have potential for long-term success...and that means opposing some things that in a better society, should be allowed.

The problem is that weed is...well, weed. It has the potential to be everywhere. If cigarette smokers already disregard the health of those around them (such as their children in a car), what will weed do? Weed smoking is not a victimless crime (where it can truly be called a crime). It affects the health and inhibitions of others in a way they may not want. And by making it public, we are opening doors of abuse.

That said, I am not opposed to the legalization of medical marijuana. I have heard a number of stories of people whose lives improved dramatically upon usage of it. People with chronic pain can live relatively normal lives thanks to it. It's not ideal, perhaps, but there's so much evidence to support the idea that medical marijuana ought to be legalized.

And besides, there are also products which contain compounds found in marijuana (such as hemp seed) that are both beneficial to health and legal to be sold already (and yes, it's delicious. We sometimes have some at home ). If those things have significant health benefits, then it stands to reason that the marijuana itself might be able to produce a similar effect, if used with wisdom.

My worry is that it will not be too often.

tgags123 : Mobile games are branching out. I didn’t know this would happen when I wanted the game a while back, but Monster Hunter Stories has an Android and an iPhone port...and they’re great! I’ve been playing a lot on iPhone and have encounter no major glitches. In addition, the interface is excellent! It reminds me of when Layton’s Mystery Journey was released on iPhone and Android before 3DS...at the price of only $16. More and more ports are making their way on onto phones...we might even see Nintendo support 3DS Pokémon games on phones in the future.

I’d love to see Nintendo drift into the PC market. To make official controllers that are Bluetooth enabled and games that are supported by PCs. If Nintendo is moving away from hardware, this move makes a lot of sense. They could release their old games on PC on Steam, and support and create new ones frequently. They could even have a partnership! For example, Nintendo could re-release Wii controllers and Nunchuks, GC controllers, and more for games officially supported on PC! Nintendo would stay relevant by digging into what is becoming more and more relevant.

A. There are two requirements for graduating from Newbie status to Member status. One is to have at least 10 posts on the forum. The other is to have been here for at least 7 days. You need to meet both of these criteria in order to stop being a Newbie. Once both criteria are met, your status will change at the next update (in other words, the earliest it can happen is on your 8th day here).

Q. How do I become a Trusted Member?

A. You need to obtain a minimum of 5 trust points to reach the Trusted status. Once obtained, you will keep it as long as you have a positive trust point value (so greater than 0).

Q. How do I get Trust Points?

A. Be respectful to other members, follow the rules, and get yourself known by popping into chat and posting in threads. Whatever you do, do not ask for someone to give you trust points as this is frowned upon and might end up with you rated down.

Q. What is the TDV/Tour De Vizzed?

A. The Tour De Vizzed (or TDV for short) is the major posting competition of Vizzed. It's only held at certain times during the year, but winners get to wear a "jersey" in recognition. There are various categories to compete in. The most points at the end of the month determines jersey winners, and until then, the winner of each day gets to wear the jersey temporarily. The overall leader also receives the rainbow jersey. If you win a monthly jersey, you get to wear it for the entirety of the following month. Note that these jerseys are just color changes on your user name's text and background colors.

Q. Where can I see what games I own in the RGR?

A. If you go to your profile you'll see box with all your general profile stats like location and age. At the top of that box you'll see three headers, one of them is a link to your games entitled Game Profile.

You can also just click "Games" where it says "Your Profile / Games" or "Your Games Profile" when in the Retro Game Room.

Q. How do I change my profile pic?

A. Up in the left hand corner of Vizzed you'll find a link called Edit Profile & Settings if you go there part way down you'll see a section called Appearance and under you'll find User Pic. There you can upload a picture to use as your profile pic, just remember to follow the rules when choosing a profile pic (No porn or offensive material).

Q. How do I make layouts and signatures?

A. First go to the My Layouts page. Here you can buy existing layouts or create your own. Members and above can use the Layout Maker, though it's hard to make layouts that aren't eyesores in it. Use it carefully. If you are a Trusted Member or above, you can uses the Advanced CSS layout maker as well as sell your layouts.
