farmboy8 : Rocko's Modern Life was a ridiculously solid and well-written kids' sitcom with a lot of clever satire mixed with kid humor, and nearly every episode was actually pure genius in its own special way. I don't really mind the adult humor, as it is actually kind of an adult/teen show in general when you look at the concept. Also, it is literally Spongebob's father, and had higher episode quality than Spongebob ever did for the most part. Show some respect, your overprotectiveness.

I think that they are overused and annoying. However, it would be funny to be able to add laugh tracks to a cartoon sitcom like Simpsons, Family Guy, Regular Show, Rocko's Modern Life (feels perhaps a little TOO much like a sitcom), or even Spongebob...just as a joke. As for the live-action sitcoms...like I said, the laugh tracks in most of those are getting really annoying. At least the laugh track is a common cliche that allows you to identify typical sitcoms just from the sound of them. As many people have stated, however, laugh tracks are often placed on jokes that are not really funny at all. I like comedy when it actually IS funny, but not when it is just completely fake and tacky like most live-action sitcoms.

Thank you for giving a decent response. I was afraid that this would turn into another one of those discussions where someone just yelled out "ROCKO SUCKS!". However, Rocko did have a lot of "meh" segments throughout its 2-episode sets. It also had a very bad habit of producing sets where one part of the set is awesome and the other part is still extremely high quality but not great. I can only name some instances in which I actually loved both episodes in a set or at least liked them almost equally. Nearly all of the episodes, when you judge by overall quality, are actually pretty "meh" when you think about it, but they have great morals, adult humor and satire. They almost always have at least one spectacular moment that makes each of them pure genius or at the very least highly least highly worth watching when you're not worried about what's "appropriate" and what's not (parents need to stop being so overprotective with that crap).

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (Thirty H's) is perhaps the best trollfic of all time. A Harry Potter fanfic made by Secondpillow on fanfiction.net, Thirty H's is a story in which Harry becomes a vengeful villain protagonist with the power to destroy the entire universe. His demonic guitar is called F***slayer. He has a chainsaw crotch attachment. And just read the very first sentence...

"Dobby relished his groinsaw's ROAR as he withdrew the flesh-choked blade from the astronaut's ruined skull."

That is just TOO freaking awesome. The entire story makes absolutely no sense and is downright hilarious because of it.

South Park. I just bought The Stick Of Truth, actually.

Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life are two of Nickelodeon's best shows, although I don't really enjoy the former. I love the latter but am very skeptical about it. 

Of course, Ren & Stimpy pushes the envelope by being insane and disgusting (although the series eventually started to place FAR too much of an emphasis on gross-out humor by literally anyone's standards, YUCK). I don't really like the series, but I will admit that it definitely has its moments (epic ones at that). Especially the "Space Madness" episode. The series was heavily abused by Nickelodeon but got its DVD support far sooner than Rocko ever did. Very trippy yet unique and entertaining series (at least it was entertaining for a little while).

Rocko's Modern Life has an uncomfortably similar style yet still manages to have its own identity. It is an inexplicably brilliant and crazy cartoon satire of modern-day life; a surprisingly teenage-oriented series under the guise of an average anthropomorphic children's cartoon. However, while I love the show's smart satire and clever jokes, I am well aware that it has a bit too much adult humor and would often not quite be considered "appropriate" for school. But despite not being safe for school, I often refuse to admit to myself that RML is an excellent comedy in its own right. Nickelodeon never seemed to really care about this show at all; the Complete Series DVD set didn't come out until some time in 2013 (which is exactly when I coincidentally became a fan of the series; I'm a lucky b******), and there STILL isn't a completely uncut version.

Which do you prefer? I sadly expect Ren & Stimpy to win, as that show at least had some popularity 

For Nickelodeon, I really love Rocko's Modern Life (even though many people believe it has raped the image of cartoons), because:
1) I can almost relate to the down-to-earth adult life issues presented in the series, being 16 myself.
2) I love the fact that the adult humor and satire hidden beneath the show's surface is clearly targeted at kids my age, making it often inappropriate for school viewing while still providing some ridiculously highbrow grown-up comedy for an otherwise average kids' sitcom. Best Example: The entire episode "Camera Shy", as well as Season One. Inappropriate yet excellent, somewhat like Ren & Stimpy.
3) It is the original Spongebob. I wish Spongebob fans would give this series just a LITTLE bit more credit (not to mention respect) for that. I also don't mind Spongebob when it's actually good, but I don't actively watch Spongebob anymore and I think it's highly overrated.
4) I was 15 when I saw the full series.

Avatar, Invader Zim, Spongebob, and a few others (maybe Ren & Stimpy) were pretty good, although Invader Zim was indeed extremely overrated.

For CN, I watched Flapjack and hated it as a kid. Johnny Test is and always has been a freaking eldritch abomination, don't even get me started on that crap. Chowder was...maybe I should have given it a chance. I need to watch Regular Show sometime. Adventure Time was pretty decent, but I lost interest after the LemonHope episode (although that was a great episode). Courage The Cowardly Dog was a little on the overrated side to be honest. Total Drama Island was pretty bad but perhaps tolerable.

I never watched Disney Channel, but I suppose Phineas & Ferb looks alright. It has two of Rocko's writers for one thing. I hate Disney Channel's live-action sitcoms. It's like almost literally every single show they put out now is basically the exact same thing reskinned.

Despite not being appropriate for school, I still this scene from Rocko's Modern Life to be questionably underrated.

Technically, South Park came from the 1990s.

However, as far as kids' cartoons go, Rocko's Modern Life is clearly my favorite 90s show in my opinion. Sure, it's not appropriate for school, but it's fantastic regardless. It is like Spongebob on steroids (no, not LSD, steroids).

South Park: This show is a well-deserved pop-culture icon. Some may not believe it, but it's true. South Park is by ridiculously far the best satire ever put onto TV, although some of its stereotypes occasionally become so ridiculously overdone that they're just stupid and not even funny anymore. I just ordered "The Stick Of Truth" from Amazon and am waiting for it to arrive.

Rocko's Modern Life: The second best Nickelodeon series right behind Avatar; it's like Spongebob on steroids (steroids and hallucinogenic drugs are two very different things). Again, most people don't believe it but it's true. While this series is not exactly appropriate for school, that's the appeal of it. It has some excellent satire and I could totally imagine me with a group of my friends watching the episode "Camera Shy" privately, with all of us laughing our butts off.

Rocko's Modern Life and...the History channel or something. (I think I actually watched Adventure Time after Rocko, but AT didn't quite hold my attention for the entirety of what's been made of the series so far). I've watched the entire series of both Rocko and South Park. I must say Rocko is one of the few great things to come out of Nickelodeon...have you heard about its new Complete Series DVD set? I'm making it a prize for the end of this school year . South Park is a well-deserved pop-culture icon and I've ordered The Stick Of Truth from Amazon.

Rocko had an...okay...history-themed episode, but Rocko and the History Channel would not mix. I can imagine Heffer thinking that there were UFOs on Egypt and also thinking that Rocko is a dinosaur XD By the way, Heffer's seen Rocko "NAAAKEEED, with no clothes on". Maybe not appropriate for school, but a very underrated and hilarious scene nonetheless.

Nearly every song in South Park. "Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld", "Chocolate Salty Balls", "Let's Fighting Love", and "Blame Canada" to name a few.

I think I've only speed-runned a few games other than the Metroid series. I think I speed-runned Portal a few times, and, obviously, Super Mario Bros.

I literally JUST figured out how to play a ROM hack on the ZSNES Super Nintendo emulator (without Vizzed). It took me TONS AND TONS of frustration, time, research, risks, and general experimentation to finally put each piece in the right place. I fused a Super Metroid file with the file for Metroid Super Zero Mission (Super Metroid hack) using Lunar IPS. After renaming a few files, I finally managed to get the file fusion to work successfully. Therefore, Super Zero Mission  is now playable (I was absolutely stunned to see that I finally got a ROM hack working; and perfectly, no less.) Also, I'm pretty sure that the regular Super Metroid ROM is still intact (playable). DD
