I've never seen or caught a shiny, BUT I will relate to you an interesting story from my days on Pokemon Silver.

See, I know Sentret is in general a pretty useless Pokemon (it's a freaking squirrel :p), but there was one Sentret I always made a point of catching in Silver version. The grasslands directly outside of the starting town would always have one Sentret with an interesting quirk: every time I saw it it would perform an animation. I think it was the animation for Flash. It wouldnt' attack, but before the battle started a big sparkle flew out of the sky, hit it, and caused it to glow. Then it would act normally. After catching it, it would continue to act that way. However, no other Sentrets would display this behavior after it had been caught. I've been told that no one's ever seen that kind of thing before, so it's probably a cartridge quirk. I used to name him Flash. I miss that Sentret. I need to find my Silver version cartridge.

I'm pretty sure you found yourself a shiny Sentret.

The first shiny I caught, not counting the red Gyarados from G/S/C, was a shiny Meditite from Sapphire. At that time I didn't know there were such things called shiny Pokemon, but I caught it anyway because I thought for sure Meditite were supposed to be blue, not red. Then in Leaf Green I caught a shiny Gastly. Then I went years before seeing anymore until I played Emerald again and a couple of weeks ago I caught a shiny Zubat, which is now a shiny (pink) Crobat.

It's possible if and only if it is at a much higher level than the Elite 4 and has attacks that can damage their Pokemon (like if it couldn't attack ghost Pokemon you'd be stuck on that in Gen1 and 3) but I defiantly don't recommend it.

I wouldn't mind being Snorlax. What's better than doing nothing but eat and sleep... then eat and sleep some more. That pretty much should seal the deal right there. And it's so big and strong nobody will even think about mugging you in the Walmart parking lot.

Yes and no. I don't for the most part because the Pokemon I put in there wont keep up level wise with the ones I use in my team. Plus you have no control over what moves are deleted when they learn new moves while they are in there. I do though sometimes just throw random Pokemon in there who I'm not going to use and have no intention of bringing back out just to see how high its level will get before the end of the game (which remindes me, I need to check on my Togepi in Crystal.) I could anyway then put them up for trade in the GTS, but I've never quite gotten around to that. But for the most part, if I use daycare centers it's to get eggs.

2. Wrap & Bind. It made sense in the original series that Wrap & Bind wouldn't allow you to make a move but they changed it so you could attack in the 2nd generation. That didn't make much sense to me.

Croconaw always had Scratch, it's Totodile's first move. And Sandshrew has always had Poison Sting. Level 24 in Gen 1, level 17 in Gen 2 and 3, and level 9 in Gen 4. Spinarak starts with Poison Sting, so unless you accidentally delated it or caught it after if learned Night Shade. Or if you gave it to the daycare center and it learned Night Shade there, if Poison Sting was on top of the list of it's moves, it would take that away. But I'm pretty sure it's not a glitch, what level is your Spinarak at?

I've played them all except Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver and personally I like the newer ones better. The old ones are good, especially when you think about just how old some of them are, but when I go back and play some of them I realize how many new features I miss. I really like Crystal, and I'm not sure if this was fixed in HG and SS, but one thing I've always wished was that they would have put a little more into the Kanto part and that the Pokemon weren't so weak throughout the game because they made all your opponents so weak. At one point your Pokemon are in the mid to upper 30's and your fighting trainers with Pokemon under 20. And you have 6 or 7 badges at that point, in Diamond and Pearl you Pokemon get to lvl 30 before you get your 3rd badge. Emerald if fun too because it doesn't just end, there's the Battle Frontier. Crystal and on there were battle towers, but that was it. In the Battle Frontier there's so much more you can do. It lasts longer than Kanto in G/S/C, the 7 Islands in LG and FR, and that one Island (dont remember the name) in D/PE/PL. All the games, new and old, were great when they came out and as you would hope the games got better in time. So I can't really pick out one as a favorite, they all have their pros and cons for when they came out. Think about this. If you found someone who had never played Pokemon games before and gave them Blue or Red version and then Heart Gold or Soul Silver and had them play both, of course they will like HG/SS better. In another 15 or how ever many years HG/SS will be as obsolete as Red and Blue are now.

I caught Suicune in Crystal after forgetting to save the game before starting the fight. I only had 3 Ultra Balls, 20 Great Balls, and 1 Moon Ball. Luckily Lanturn was able to paralyze it and weaken it to a bit less than 1/4 of it's HP, but it didn't seem to matter. I used all 3 Ultra Balls, the Moon Ball (because I was getting desperate at that time), and all but 3 Great Balls and never got close to catching it. I lost 2 of my 4 Pokemon and was getting frustrated. I had thought about just taking it out and getting the EXP for it but decided to throw one more Great Ball. Somehow, even though I had yet to even come close to catching it even with Ultra Balls, I caught it.

I also had trouble catching Ho-oh in Gold. I did save before starting that time and I tried at least 10 times before giving up and defeating it. Paralyzed and nearly no health didn't seem to matter.

Something I thought would be kinda cool if it was possible would be to be able to have tournaments (or just regular battles) between users who play games from the same generation. In other words, people who play Gen1 could battle others who played Gen1 games, same for Gen2 and 3 and so on. It would be a cool way to show off not only your Pokemon but also your ability to train your Pokemon and win a battle against a challenging opponent, not just those easy to beat trainers you fight in the game. As it is now, once you finish a game you can't really do much else in it, unlike usually where you could trade or battle friends or random people (depending on recent of a game your talking about.) And since, as far as I know, you can't cheat like you can with the actual games on the consoles it would be a true test of skill. Like I said, I'm not sure how possible that would be but it would be pretty fun if it could be done.

I've heard that shiny Pokemon are actually weaker than normal ones because of the EV's that are required for it to be shiny make it weaker. Is that true because my shiny Crobat is actually pretty strong and has rather high attack, speed, and defense stats.

The only way to get a shiny with out cheating is through luck, not counting the red Gyarados. Even if you tried breading Pokemon to get one, the odds are so small to start with, a 4X or 8X better chance still isn't all that much. I've played Pokemon games since Red and Blue came out and I can only think of 3 times I've seen a shiny in the wild, again not counting the red Gyarados. The first was in Sapphire, I found a shiny Meditite on island where you get the red/blue orbs. I caught it only because I noticed it was a different color but I didn't know there was such a thing called shiny Pokemon. Then in Leaf Green I found a shiny Gastly in Lavender Town, by then I did know it was a shiny and made darn sure I caught it. That was not long after that game came out, so it's been years since I've found another. But just last week I found a shiny Zubat in Emerald in the cave on Dewford Island (or town or which ever it is.) I don't recommend going around trying to find one because the odds are so small it's not really worth it. And just because it's shiny it doesn't mean it will look cooler than the normal version. Shiny Charizard (black rather than the normal orange)are awesome but then you can get some that don't look quite as good. For example that shiny Zubat I caught was green instead of blue which is kinda cool. Same for Golbat. But when it evolves into Crobat, it becomes a bright pink. Yes, pink. But if you do happen to find one, catch it no matter what it is or even if you wont use it because you may never EVER find one again.

NASCAR all the way. It's the only one that has the perfect combo of action and strategy. And there can never be a blowout like in other sports. No matter if it's the first lap or 1 lap to go, you can never be too sure who's gonna win until the checkered flag waves.

I thought of 2 more. Shedinja, if you dont have a Pokemon with moves that are super effective against either bug or ghost types or a move like Sandstorm, Toxic, Hail, or something like that you can't beat it. And any Pokemone that uses moves like Double Team or Minimize an absurd number of times. If you dont have Arial Ace, Swift, or Shock Wave your screwed.

They both have their ups and downs. Pokemon has better games, Yu-gi-oh has a better card game part, and they're about equal when it comes to the TV show. One week one was better and the next the other might, it just depends on where the story line of each is at a particular time. The original Yu-gi-oh had a slight advantage, in my opinion, over Pokemon but the Yu-gi-oh GX or what ever it was wasn't quite as good as the original. But I don't watch either anymore, so I'm sure what they are like at the moment.

5.Magikarp- yes even though it can't do anything offensively, it has a relatively high defense for early in the game (where ones usually appear) especially when someone sends out a lvl 15 out of nowhere when your Pokemon are around lv10. Worst of all, they give hardly any experience points.

4.Zubat- They appear all over early in the game and their Supersonic is a pain in the butt.

3.Whitney's Miltank- as everyone knows, if you hadn't seen her Pokemon and you go in there unprepared it'll rip you apart. Then when you think you've finally beat it, it uses Milk Drink so you have to start all over.

2.Shuckle- I don't remember what game it is, but in one you have to fight one that is ridiculously hard to beat due to it's high defenses. While you try to get through those defenses, it's Toxic eats away at your team faster and faster.

1.Milotic- High defense + Recover + strong moves like Surf, Ice Beam, and some other strong water attack that I can't remember the name of = the most annoying Pokemon ever. It's typically seen at the end of the 8th Gym battle in Ruby/Sapphire or at the end of the Elite 4 in Emerald, so by the time you get to it, especially in Emerald, your Pokemon have used up quite a bit of the PP of their strongest moves and can be low on HP. It's so annoying to fight but it may be even more annoying to get. You have to catch a Feebas and max out it's beauty stats. So because it's so hard to fight I want one, but to get it you have to go through all that Pokeblock stuff as well as train the Feebas like you normally would to get a Pokemon like that.

Squirtle isn't considered the best because Charmander (really Charizard) is the best followed by Squirtle (Blastoise) then Bulbasaur (Venusaur.). Now if we're talking which is easier in the beginning of Kanto it's hands down Bulbasaur because it learns razor leaf (a power of 55 plus STAB bonus) compared to Water Gun and Ember (both a power of 40 plus STAB.) So early in the game it learns the strongest elemental move of the 3, but that advantage quickly disappears as the other 2 can learn Surf, Ice Beam, and Flamethrower. Sure there's Solarbeam but that comes much MUCH later, and Charizard can learn Overheat which is stronger. The second reason Bulbasaur is the best at the start is because it can single handedly take on Brock and Misty and Lt. Surge's electric attacks don't affect it much. So if your a newbie to Pokemon, Bulbasaur is the safest bet. But if not Charmander is a risk worth taking because it pays off in the end. Regardless of which applies to you, Squirtle comes in second both ways.

The one plus to Squirtle is that you then don't need to catch a water type for Surf, which can be a bit challenging to do sometimes before you need it unless you go out of your way. And it gives you someone to teach Ice Beam to fight Lance's Dragons at the end. You can catch grass Pokemon almost every where and HM wise they dont do a whole lot for you. Neither do fire types but those are even harder to find, if not impossible, than water types early in the game unless you go with Charmander. So really you just have to go with what's best for you and your situation. Every time I go through I pick a different one to force myself into creating a team different than ones I've used before just for the fun of it. All thinks considered, in my opinion, it goes Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur but that's just me.

The plant is warming up? We've already beat the record for snow in February here in Ohio and still have almost half the month to go through, and more snow this weekend. DC go what, 50 inches or so in the last couple of weeks? Dallas got a foot of snow just recently. All 50 states have had snow this year. Yes, ALL 50. Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, every last one. Last time I checked, it has to be pretty darn cold to snow.

The 2012 theory I'm most familiar with is the Mayan calendar ending. The thing is, nobody knows what it means. There are tons of theories, each crazier than the last. Some do make you wonder, I'll admit that. But come on. The Mayans couldn't accurately predict their own demise, how should I believe they could predict ours? They had to stop sometime. There is no never ending rock for them to write it all down. And if you go to google and type in just about any year you'll find things about the end of the world. Even in years that have long past.
