I just saw this at the weekend.

Really enjoyed it despite some minor infidelities to the source material and a slightly different message.

I'm a big fan of the graphic novel and of Alan Moore's work in general really. I was just wondering what your impressions were. Anyone really like it? Hate it?
Opinions here please.

*EDIT*

Oops my bad. Accidentally made a double thread of this. Sorry about that!

Another far more complicated way is to manipulate the DAT files for items and magic using a hex editor.
Not quite sure how. Stifu would be your man to ask!

Ok so which characters does everyone think the series could completely have done without??

My money goes on;

Wakka: God, what a pr*ck

Yuna: Wuss. I mean the weak female with healing powers has been done to death. I want to see a female character with flame powers, 2 wrist mounted mini guns and a big f*cking sword!

Rinoa: Has NO personality

In fact I think ALL the women in the FF series are completely flat and interchangeable. Except for Lulu who is sexy, has a great outfir, great abilities and a pet Moogle. she rocks!

Personally I loved the whole "science and sorcery" old meets new of the later FFs.

I FREAKING LOVED the moving Figaro castle in FF6

Also think the gunblades of FF8 are a great idea. Nice to see them used in FF Advent Children

Sorry guys while I admit I'd also be curious there's nothing wrong with FF& therefore a remake is a futile and cynical money spinning exercise.

I am now going to close my eyes and put my fingers in my ears going

" la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la lala la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la"

Think if the japanese made Superman. Violent, ultra modern and with lots of cool fights.
Ok here we go the plot in a nutshell;

There exist on Earth 3 Guyver units. Alien suits of armour which can merge with any organism and provide him/ her/ it with superhuman powers.
The nasty Cronos corporation wants them. Bad! But one of their renegade agents steals them then blows a load of sh*t up.
One of them is resultantly found by 17 year old student Sho Fukamachi and his buddy Tetsuo Segawa. Sho merges with the Guyver unit.

Alien suit of indestructable armour + Idealistic young man
=
Instant superhero

the Cronos corporation then spends the next 11 episodes trying to off Sho by sending genetically engineered monsters called Zoanoids after him.

If it sounds familiar it may be because 2 live action spin off films were produced in the US in the early 90s; The Guyver (AKA Mutronics) 1991 and Guyver The Dark Hero 1994

both were absolute pants!

I loved the Bio Booster Armour Guyver 12 part series that came out in the early 90s. Recently I heard a rumour that a new series was in production. I checked IMDB and it appears a new series was made in 05 but has not yet been translated into English. Has anyone here seen it?

Cookieman. I was thinking of you the other week when I bought my neighbour Totoro on DVD! Still not got around to watching it yet. Love Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Looking forward to Howl's Moving Castle. I hear Christian Bale is providing the voice of Howl in the English version!

I respect all of you guys but why in the name of Satan's trousers do you actually WANT a remake of FF7? What the f**k is wrong with the original? Or are you just worried that there isn't enough lack of originality and grave robbing crap on the shelves as it is? Can you think of a SINGLE 80s arcade game that hasn't been remade?
The games industry is the little brother of cinema and TV and seems to be catching the same hereditory disease. How many cheap crappy Hollywood remakes are out there? 1 in 5 films produced these days appears to be a remake. Ooh gee whizz it's Oscar season. Does this mean we get original provocative cinema? Nope just formulaic unimaginative biopics and vaguely cerebral political thrillers.
I can't go to the pictures without seeing a remake/ comic adap/ film based on an old sitcom or whatever copyright expiry du jour the sausage machine decides to churn out.
I would have thought with video games being such a young medium it'd take longer to go this way but just how many ORIGINAL HIGH CONCEPT games do you see on the shelves?
I love FF7 but can't think of any reason on Earth what the point would be in remaking it. Better graphics? whoopee dooo. Excuse me while I soil myself!
Do gamers really need development studios to insult their collective intelligence to this extent? Do they think we are that stupid that we can be placated by pretty pictures and won't look beyond the surface for anything resembling substance?

I'm playing FF6 at the moment and it is in my opinion quite literally perfect. nothing is broke about it so why fix it?

I feel exactly the same about FF7!

Thanks for tolerating my rant!!!!!

I like Vincent as he doesn't talk too much. FF characters tend to be just a little TOO angst riddled and blab too much expositional dialogue.

Squall for example from FF8? Does anybody actually LIKE him? He's a concieted a**h***!

Have you reviewed anything new lately? I remember adding a bunch of reviews of yours to my site a while ago.

Nothing you don't already have on this site but I'll try and get some new ones for you by Monday. How's that?
