After I reviewed Wii Sports Resort, how could I forget to review this game? This game came on pretty much all Wii's that came out and is one of the most sold games in the world because of it.
Graphics: 5 There are simple graphics for the game. The new system of Mii's at the time were very simple (and still are today) of representing a player as an avatar in the game. The stages that the players go into are nicely detailed (although boxing looks like it's just too dark and the audience is a bunch of 2D textures. Baseball isn't much better, with the audience just being a whole textured panel, no joke). The graphics are not too bright and cartoony, but not too dark and depressing either, like it's just in the middle while feeling realistic at the same time. The rating should be a 5.5~ish but Vizzed won't let me do that.
Sound: 7 The music is nice and relaxing when in the menus, and the sound effects (crowd cheering, etc.) makes you hyped and determined to beat your friend in the game. It also is the first game to show how the sound effects can come out of the Wii remote when needed. Not much else to say here other than you can hear no compression in the audio (which is good because the disk has so much space because the game is so small compared to other games on the market/Wii Shop Channel.
Addictiveness: 7 This game is fun for a while, but then gets kind of boring once you see that there's Wii Sports Resort sitting right next to the game cover on your shelf. Don't get me wrong, for the time that it came out it was revolutionary, but I mean, Resort though... It is almost better in every way... Doesn't matter though, it's still fun to play games like boxing and golf with your friends and get a nice exercize while doing it.
Story: N/A I have no idea what the story is. You're some guy doing sports? On some contract around the world? You make it up I don't know, there's no story given to you ever in the game besides doing sports.
Depth: 7 There's plenty of things to do in this game, like the main game modes I mentioned and also the minigames and even daily challenges that you can do that keeps you fit in real life. I don't think I have ever seen more of a clever excuse to see more people exercise while playing video games than this game.
Difficulty: 5 Some of the computer opponents are hard when you get to them at a higher rank when winning the games, but the real challenge comes when you have to fight your school friend in boxing and if you lose you have to pay him $10 or he'll tell the whole class about the time you invited him over and forced him/her to do something bad. (this never happened to me of course this is just an example of how extreme the difficulty can be at times).
OVERALL: 7.5 If you had a Wii, you owned this game. if you didn't and just got a used one for $5, then you can get the game for around the same price. The game is not rare and you can find it anywhere. It's a fun game but almost incomparable to Wii Sports Resort, which, for a couple more dollars, comes with more content than this game. I would still give this game a shot nevertheless.
