I don't really care what people think of me, to be honest. You either like me or you don't, but it's not my problem if you don't.

It's not like anyone who makes a leaving thread actually leaves. That's why we don't allow it.

I've seen years and years of leaving threads and they never actually leave. They always stick around to collect the pity they're trying to get through the thread, or they just come back after a while.

But by all means, if anyone wants to prove me wrong, go for it. Anyone who states they like drama but make a leaving thread is clearly doing it to be dramatic, which is absolutely not mature.

You kids need to settle down.

I have a problem with the title and contents of the threads being edited to insult the creator, and it being trashed.

I've been around for 2ish years, and almost every leaving thread I have seen were closed, but left alone. Not edited to insult the creator, just allowed to exist and be seen.

And yes I've left- I made that post in the dump, but I just felt the need to voice my opinions in here.

You're basically saying that you're going to disrespect anyone who dares make a thread about leaving. Plus why the sudden change in how they're being treated now? At the very least keep the content of the threads intact...

ZeroTails : Within reason, of course. Some things should be edited out, others left. It should be handled on a case-by-case and be edited if there's obvious flame bait, flame or other things of the sort. That's just my take on it.

Moss- I think what she meant was that the thread titles were changed to "lexatom constantly breaks the rules" and "invalid read" which is kind of humiliating to the creators of those threads.

Barathemos : it's debatable whether or not what the content was replaced with was really warranted, but I can really only say that I would've handled it a little differently. Regardless though, I do think the whole thing is being blown way out of proportion. I think of the involved parties could've been a little less aggressive or a little less sensitive.

How exactly is "invalid thread" insulting?
Its a thread that isn't allowed, making it invalid.
Seems legit to me.

Why do you need a leaving thread for people to contact you?
Use what the site already offers and put you contact info on your profile.
There are sections in there for psn, xbl, steam, etc.

I think when users leave the site, they should post their contact info on their profile like Vanelan said, and private message their friends. That way, everyone who should know would most likely see it, and there would be less drama like this.

I also disagree with editing the thread titles to insult users, even when they do something like plagiarize and get perma-banned for it. Admins have the right to insult them, but that doesn't mean they should use it. I don't see a reason why that's better than just putting "bad thread" for the title and editing the post to be blank.

Plus, the more harsh mods are towards users, the less they will want to stay (edit: or want to change their ways). I keep getting frustrated and feeling like I'm one of the very few users who wants to be peaceful and help the site instead of just pointing out others' flaws.

I apologize if I sounded unlike myself there, it's hard to put out the emotions I have correctly in a post on the internet.

See, the real thing here is what's being considered an insult. I can understand why it comes off that way, but, no offense to him, that's just Van. There was no malice, he's just coarse and up front.

Vanelan : Viewing it from their perspective, calling a thread invalid, where they put all of their feelings and memories about the site, could make it seem like they're invalid. As moss said, it was just coarse and up front, which while not wrong of you to do, could come off as insinsitive towards them.

Barathemos : Well, see... The other half of that is that everyone likes to jump to conclusions and assume that there was something personal about it. Just about everyone I know is waaaaaaay too defensive. That's why I said that everyone has room to improve.

It may seem unessesary, but it's the safe way and that makes everyone happy.
