m0ssb3rg935 : Even if I were to look at it from that perspective I'm not really sure what you are on about, plenty of muslims on all sorts of platforms have denounced ISIS and other similar terror groups but it's falling on deaf ears. Even so I would argue it's obvious they're not representative of islam as a whole because muslims are the biggest victims of IS, many having had family members taken away or having lost their homes. It's not the fault of muslims that western news media is covering IS when that's what sells nor is it the fault of muslims that people are choosing to focus on extremist terror groups like ISIS and ignoring everyone else. Just like it isn't the fault of all feminists that many people like to put a spotlight on radical feminists like Anita Sarkeesian. People typically remember the bad experiences much more easily than they remember the good which is what helps exaggerate the influence of these vocal minorities. It's the responsibility of all people try and see the full picture, muslims shouldn't have to scream at the top of their lungs as soon as there is some sort of terror attack in order for them to get it.

OHHH BOY I CAN RANT FOR HOURS ABOUT THIS

but I'm gonna sum up what I have to say as quickly as I can because I have bread in the oven that needs to be taken out in 15 minutes.

The woman who think that the root of all evil is men are not feminists. they are anti-men
the woman who think that trans woman are not woman are TERFs.
the woman who use feminism to start petty arguments are not Feminists. they are b****es.

REAL feminism is wanting equal rights
To be treated the SAME
Like, I'm a feminist
And you know what?
I think woman should get the same length prison sentences as men
I think that the mother should not have the right away when battling for child custody
I think that people should know that woman are capable of raping and abusing men and should get the same sentences men get for it.
I think that Woman should have to sign up for the draft
I also don't think that a woman should get everything during a divorce with her husband

However, I do think that woman should be paid the same as men
and that they should not be seen as an object (Unless they want to I mean that's totally up to them, but it should not be seen as the norm)

Feminism is an outdated, useless idea.

Yes, women have equal rights. What more do you want? Move on.

catbert225 I have to say, you seem to be a very rare breed over the Internet! I completely agree with all your points (except the wage gap; not only are there laws against it, but that said gap is 95% explained by women's choices)

Feminism is a touchy subject, and there are many types of feminism alive and well in the world today, a few of which I don't support at all.

Feminism, simply put, is wanting equal rights for women in modern day society. What many groups are attempting to do is to get the same rights that men have. The issue is that women have equal rights here in America. Women have the write to vote, own land, hold their own job, all of that. Many people complain that they are surprised by the government and by men and that they aren't as integrated into high tech jobs as men, but it's shown that men are more likely to enter into these jobs, which are standardly better paying and more dangerous or needing higher schooling. Many feminists I know complain constantly about the wage gap, which isn't real in most job markets. Here in the United States women are payed just as well as men for the same work and they tend to work less dangerous and less hour jobs than men.

When it comes to feminism in the United States, you also have to think about how the law handles women. In family courts, it is more likely for the women to win higher in divorce and to have more rights to the children and property to the men due to their being a women, even if they are a worse parent. Women also can't rape men, they can only sexually assault them, which I feel is blastfomy. The women who is convicting a man in a rape case needs less evidence than a man accusing a woman of a sexual assault case, and are more likely to win. Women get lesser prison sentences than men for committing the same crimes under the same laws and jurisdictions. Women are more likely to get away with being an abuser in a relationship than men, and are more likely to win a case against a man than a man against a woman. Women who take men to court are more likely to win on bigger issues like child custody and marriage arrangements.

Women also don't have to sign up to be a part of the draft. When women wanted to be integrated into the military, which they were and are now a main component, people thought they would have to sign up to be a part of the draft. However, women aren't required to sign up for he draft upon turning 18 as men are.

That's the first world.

In developing countries, feminism is real feminism. Women are treated poorly by both men and the government ad rarely have rights. In many countries, women have no rights, and are not allowed to leave their houses. In others, they have to take care of up wards of 10 children alone starting at the early age of 13. Women are also not granted education and job opportunities, limiting what they can do for their community and country. These women are the ones who need feminism and help from the global world, not those here in America. These women don't believe they should rank higher than men, they believe that they should be the same and have the same rights as everyone else, which is the right to be free and persue your own path in life with education as a key component.

Hopefully these women can achieve this kind of freedom soon, which is something I have worked with my church on. Hopefully it's in the near future.

Sadly, I believe many people are too stupid to look past the name feminism so they think feminism is about female superiority. For some it is, but not the majority. I believe in egalitarian feminism, which means that men and women should be considered equals unless their is a logical reason one should take up a role over the other. For example: I believe that women should have to sign up for the draft and the should be allowed in the NFL. However I also believe the standards for getting in the military outside of the draft and for the NFL should be no less or more difficult than for men. I am also not a fan of predetermined gender roles, however I believe people should have the right to follow gender norms if the so choose.

I know I shouldn't talk on this but I Will and probably tick someone off...

I believe, and to a very certain extant, know feminism is nothing what people think it is. Feminism in and of it self and in name is nothing more than a wing of sexism, the other wing being masculinism. Although, in majority, masculinism prevails and thus is the bigger problem, Feminism also fails to take in account that in the minority that men are also disadvantaged if they choose to follow a feminine path and that women can be just as bad as men.

I personally believe in gender equality, so that no matter the gender identity, a person should be treated equal to everyone else when it comes to respect, opportunity, and law.

Update:
I feel I should clarify how I define gender. Gender is made up of multiple dimensions (which sociologists and psychologists are still attempting to distinguish. I prefer a slightly older model then the more simplified versions of today). These dimensions combine to make up unlabeled genders.

Biological sex:
x (Turner); xx (female); xxx (trisomy x); xxxx (tetrasomy X); xxxxx (pentasomy); xy (male); xxy (Klinefelter); xyy (super male); xxyy (not named yet); xxxxy (not named yet); plus whatever hasn't been found.

Gender identity:
What you feel is your gender based on your experiences. Can be the same as your biological but not decided by it. (Example, Billy is biological male but he may identity as female because he was only raised by females).

Gender expression:
How you outwardly display your gender. Can be the same as your biological but not decided by it. (Example, Sally is biological female but she expresses herself as male by wearing man suits and plays rugby).

Gender social role:
What you do socially. Generally categorized as make and female. Can be the same as your biological but not decided by it. (Billy is a biological male but he is a stay-at-home dad. His gender role is female because females are traditionally the stay at home parent; Sally is  a biological female but she goes and runs a railroad repair shop. Her gender role is male because males usually work to support the family and males are traditionally hard labours.)

Romantic attraction:
Homo/hetero.

This is definitely an important topic. I do feel that women tend to use this to bias themselves as the victim when in reality they can both be just as abusive and just as kind. I believe greatly in gender equality and that both genders should be able to do the same thing. I should know, I'm a training ballet dancer and male. This wouldn't have been allowed years ago.

The fact is like you stated. Women should really focus on bringing these problems to light, as they are issues that are diverse in our society even today. No one here deserves to be treated unequally as you said. I feel that it is most important that women and men know their lines, and have equal lives in terms of wages, and other aspects.

That's my take on the matter.
