Have you received a gift from someone that made you smile big, you thought it was the best, and you felt like you couldn't match it? I definitely have.

For Christmas last month I received a ticket to a concert full of Christian artists I really like listening to. It's 3 months away and it will be worth the wait! I can't imagine how amazing of an experience it will be. It'll be on April 6th, which is a school day, but that's OK. I'll be fine being sleep-deprived for a day, as long as I don't fall asleep in class and make my teachers mad XD

The biggest gift I've been given is probably my car, I'd have to say. My grandparents bought it for me after my first semester of college, and I was and still am so thankful for it! Before I got it, I was biking and walking between campuses, which was hard work but the exercise was healthy. I've also since been able to visit my family, whose members are spread out all over the state.
It's a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker, a very dependable car, and it continues to serve me well today. I do my best to keep it clean and maintained so that it will last me many more years to come. I cannot thank my grandparents enough for this huge gift, and I thank God for blessing me with such a kind family!

My favorite gift was the Wii my dad bought for me 10 years ago. Of course, I gave it away (for free and to someone I don't even know, nonetheless....thanks, mom) and I now own a Wii U. Even though it's the thought that really counts, I had a blast with the Wii and it was what introduced me to gaming besides the Gamecube and Game Boy Advance. I spent more time on the Wii than both of those combined, haha.

Dewtuck97 : That's a big gift and definitely a useful one! Like you were saying, to travel back and forth between college campuses is important. I'm sure that when I go to college in about 2 years, I'll want a car to travel instead of doing all that walking. Visiting family is especially important and you need dependable transportation to do that so I'm really glad you got that car

Boured : Yes! People's company means so much to me. I keep feeling like I always need interaction and I have so many people there for me.

Lexatom : I received a Wii from my parents 7 years ago. I also gave it away, but I gave it away to GameStop and only got $10 for it XD I should have given it away to my friend who really wants one, but I didn't think of that at the time :/ Now I'm enjoying my Wii U too, and I still play plenty of Wii games on it.

Pacman+Mariofan :

I'm going to start hating the Wii U as much as possible once the Switch comes out haha. It'll be practically useless. I'm probably going to sell it for 300 dollars a bit after the Switch comes out.

Lexatom: I think you should wait to sell your Wii U because once the Nintendo Switch comes out, it might be quite a while until you're able to buy one. I hope I'm wrong and that they produce enough to sell, unlike the NES Classic Edition XD Also, the Switch could somehow turn out to be not as good as the Wii U. I really hope I'm wrong about that because it looks cooler so far.

It's a good idea to get the most use out of your Wii U as possible before selling it. To tie in the topic with this post, someday your Wii U that you'd have sold could make for the best gift someone has received from someone they know

It would be a close tie between the gifts that I got for my 20th and 21st birthday from a few people at my agency.

The gift for my 20th birthday was a gold watch that's like one of those thick pocket watches, and when you flip it open, it has my name and my birthday on it.

The gift for my 21st birthday was just as good, it was my first Apple product ever, an ipod shuffle that had my name printed on it.

I think the best gift I got from a great friend is a sailor moon necklace! I didn't ask for it all he told me was that I am sending you a gift, and I hope you like it. Been wearing it since I got it in the post its so lovely, and silver coloured as well.

Pacman+Mariofan : Wow! XD That sounds awesome! Hope you have a wonderful time at the concert!

As for me, the best gifts I have received from the people I know are life, love and their time and energy, and for that, I am eternally blessed and grateful.

Now, if we're talking about tangible gifts, I tend to treasure most everything that I receive... lol Off the top of my head, in no particular order, I can think of a few gifts that cost a pretty penny (so it'll take me some time to be able to repay the ones that sent the items) and they include meals, books, tuition, software, cars, computers, gift cards, clothing, furniture, and places to live. Someday, I hope to be able to repay their kindness by sending something of similar worth/value to the people that sent me those items.

Yuna1000 : Thank you! I'm sure the concert will be fun (and extremely loud XD). This thread was intended for gift items, but answers like yours count too. The best non-material gifts I've received are definitely love, patience, motivation, and more!

Wanting to repay others for those gifts is really nice of you, I hope you can

About two-and-a-half years ago on July the second of 2014, we were making the once-a-year drive to our favorite fireworks store in our neighbor's SUV. We got behind schedule and, as we were leaving, a bad storm blew up with a lot of heavy rain and very strong wind. It was actually blowing trash cans away and sucking the doors open at the gas station, but in spite of our better judgement to let the weather pass and wait until the next day, we went anyway. About half-way there, the roads were really slick and we were traveling at about 65 miles per hour and when we started going across a bridge, we hydroplaned because the tires were bald. Thanks, neighbor who didn't bother to mention that... The right-rear tire exploded and we wound up spinning 720 degrees in the middle of the interstate in traffic with big rigs behind us, bouncing off of the guardrail twice before coming to a stop on the shoulder with minimal damage to the vehicle and not a scratch on any of us. A guy with his family in a minivan behind us saw it and instead of just driving by like everyone else did, he stopped to see if everyone was OK. He picked us up and brought us to a fast food place at the next exit, which just so happened to be right next to a tire shop, and gave us all the cash he had on hand. I asked him for his name and told him I'd pay him back eventually, he just said to pay it forward.

Just read and understood the thread title. I guess it doesn't count since I didn't know the guy lol. Someone bought me some games and a set of throwing stars. Strictly materially speaking, that's up there with the best.
