For a very VERY short game, Moirai is pretty cool. By short, I literally mean one of the shortest games that you can ever play. By the time I had finished the game, Steam says that I have played it for 7 minutes, and it was great. If the game was cheap, like $1 or $2, it would be worth it because of the twists and eerie, but the game is free, so it’s worth it even more and should be played. I watched part of a YouTube video of the game, but didn’t really know much about it since I only saw like a third of it and decided to test it out for myself.

GRAPHICS-6/10

The graphics of Moirai are very basic, it’s just a simple pixelated game with almost no detail. However, this isn’t a game that needs graphics, because as long as you can see, then the rest of the game will be fine. The game does have a nice variety of color, but there isn’t really anything to the graphics.

SOUND-8/10

The sounds are pretty good. There’s no voice acting, but the animals make noise and while you are playing, there’s two songs that play, one that plays while you are outside and one that plays while you are in the caves. The music isn’t energizing or exciting, but it seems to be a nice calm tune, kind of the opposite of what you would expect from a game such as this once you complete it. Other than that, you have random sounds of walking and whatever, and that’s all there is to the sound, which is overall pretty pleasing.

ADDICTIVENESS-10/10

The game is quite addicting. The game is really short and you might find yourself playing through it over and over. Even though the awesome twist would be revealed at the end of the first time you play, there are few different routes that you can take, and the dialogue of certain people literally change every time that you play. Not to mention that after you beat the game, you basically keep on playing afterwards, but I can’t say too much about that. I already beat the game twice and am considering playing it again just to see the outcomes of each attempt.

STORY-10/10

I can’t give away too much of the story, because even though the game takes less than 10 minutes to complete, one aspect of the story can leave you awestruck. The game starts off with you in a little village and by talking to the people there, you learn that there’s this lady named Julia who lost her husband a year ago and you find out that she went into a cave and you go after her, which is already about half way through the 10 minutes and where all of the crazy begins.

DEPTH-3/10

Literally, the game has no depth. Remember how it’s a 10 minute game? You start the game in a very small town with only 4 houses and the entire game only has about 10 different characters in total. Aside for the town, there’s a small farm and a cave, and that’s all that there is to it. Even if you talk to every character, search every house and the farm, and go down every single tunnel in the cave, the game will still take you less than 15 minutes to complete. Not that much to it.

DIFFICULTY-2

The game is not hard at all. In fact, it just uses a few buttons. You use WASD to move and space to do every interaction, whether it’s opening doors or talking. There’s no other actions aside for typing out words later in the game, which is easy and self-explanatory. There aren’t even any wrong ways to play, because no matter which choice you pick at a point, you will still finish the game the same way.

OVERALL-8.8/10

Overall the game is simply amazing. It’s short and has terrible graphics, but it’s a great experience over the final few minutes when you realize what’s really going on. It’s free, the entire file is like 15 MB or less, and it will only take a few minutes to play, so even if you couldn’t care less about the game, you should give it a try and who knows, the twist might leave you speechless as well. I loved the game and my overall grade for Moirai is going to be an 8.8 out of 10.

zanderlex : This is a really good review you have done here, never have I ever heard or played the game before. It seems very interesting and I might try it out to play since you've convinced me more than enough to.
