Super Mario maker...the best mario 2d game to date right? The ability to create your own levels, and play everyone else's. What could possibly go wrong? Everything.

I know almost anyone that ever played a Mario game loves mario maker, and I originally did, but anymore playing 100-mario challenge on expert is impossible for me, because of all the stupid troll levels! I could skip 1000 troll levels and still not beat my first level. To add to that, I can never get any stars for any of my levels, no matter how creative I thought they were. (then i go over and see that the troll level has like a 1000 stars. This game has been nothing but frustrating to me.It doesn't help that my sister made nothing but enemy spams and just weird levels, and she got way more stars than me. I had high hopes for my level mario and the dark dimension. I took a lot of time and painstaking effort into this level. It has a subworld that has a mirrored layout. The dark world was more difficult than the overworld, and you turn into dk jr every time you go in it. With so much time put in my level, I really thought that it would get a lot of stars. The bright side is that it had the highest count of any of my levels...at 5 stars...and it took a whole year to get that many. Half of my levels got deleted because they were never even played,and the levels that did get played got one or two stars. That is why this last sunday, i took down all my levels and deleted the game.

It's just not even worth it anymore. When you can't play the game because of poor level designs (I know there are good levels out there, but you hardly ever find those in a 100-mario run.And you'll have to spend hours surfing through levels to find one that looks good. No thank you, I'm going to play something that's actually playable!

Sorry for the rant, but I really wanted to talk about this, because I feel like everyone else thinks it's just the best thing in the world, and i just don't see it.

I've never played this game before so...I wouldn't know what to say, but by the sounds of it this game has mixed reviews. I have heard people who love and adore this game while some others don't. Who clearly state their reasons as you have now. I've never attempted to play the game myself because I wasn't really interested in it. Sorry to hear your experiences of what you went through to try and make a good level. I see it wasn't easy for you I can also see how it can frustrate someone to try, and do so. :/

See my nephew keeps asking for this game, but that means buying a Wii U just for it, and frankly it looks boring to me. I love the idea of level creators...but that's just it: I love the idea. In practice they bore me to no end.

My nephew however, is a seven year old who has never heard of level creation, so he really doesn't know what to expect here. He sees "Make a Mario game!" not "Spend hundreds of hours making levels and tens of minutes playing them". Besides I almost never enjoy user generated content. Maybe that's just me? Idk.


Anyway, thanks. You've given me yet another reason to get him almost anything but Mario Maker. Lol He'll be just as happy with some of the other games I plan to get him anyway.
