So in this thread I'll write an interactive story. Bear in mind that I don't claim to be a writer and this is a bit out of my element, but it seems like it could be a fun idea. It was inspired a thread from a few years ago that sadly died before it could really get started. So in learning from that thread's failure, I'm hoping to see this one be a success.

Here's how it'll work:
First I'll post a portion of a story, then you guys read it. Difficult concept to grasp, right? At the end of this story segment I will list multiple options for you to pick from to decide how the story goes next.
Next everyone who wants to play along (you can post as often or rarely as you wish. There's no need to commit to following the entire story) posts here telling me which option they want to go with. The most popular choice is what we go with. If there is a tie, the first option that was picked is the path we take.
Remember, this story may be u pdated (dodging site glitch with that spelling) multiple times a day, or it may be a few days between u pdates. It depends on how things go for me irl.

That's it! Simple enough, yeah? Alright, here we go!
_________________
Your life is a simple one, you wake up at seven AM every weekday, get up and eat breakfast, it's oatmeal. It's always oatmeal. Oatmeal is good, why should you eat anything else for breakfast?
After finishing your breakfast - quickly because you slept in, you always sleep in - you rush to the bathroom to get ready. Thankfully your clothes are already hanging up in there so you can get dressed as soon as you brush your hair. You hanged your clothes there the night before in case you slept in, you always hang them there the night before in case you sleep in, because you always sleep in.

You run out of your front door and down the steps to get to the bus stop on time, with some effort you manage to make it, you cut it close though - you always cut it close. You then get on the bus at exactly 7:15, ride to your office across town, and get off of the bus and into your office, placing your posterior in the cushioned seat at precisely 7:30. You're right on time, you're always right on time.

Yes, your life is plain and simple, you have everything down to an exact science, it's all timed perfectly everyday down to the minute and you like it that way. Others say you're boring and predictable, but you say you're punctual and efficient. You often chuckle at the thought of your coworkers stumbling through their houses trying to get ready in time because unlike you, they didn't anticipate oversleeping. They're so inefficient and disorganized, but you like them anyway. Well, most of them. You never really could stand Bob for whatever reason. Something about him bothered you, but you never knew what it was...

But you couldn't waste your precious, perfectly planned moments worrying your pretty little head over Bob and his annoying, unorganized ways. No, you had a schedule to keep, and keep it you did.

Weekends were more relaxed...sort of. You had them planned perfectly too, but those plans mostly involved relaxation time, or some semblance of it. You had no time to waste on such idleness as others who simply lazed around aimlessly until bedtime. No, you planned your activities, you knew exactly what you would do - you always knew exactly what you would do, and you liked it that way.

But this morning something is different, nothing was ever different - you don't like different. Somehow you awaken earlier than usual, it's still dark outside. You try going back to sleep, but you can't. What does one do when they can't sleep until the right time? It's never happened to you, and it leaves you with a strange feeling inside... Fear? But why should you be afraid? Nothing is scary about waking up early, right?

After giving up on sleep, you look at the clock: it's 4:00 AM. Why on earth did you wake up so early? As you sit up in bed, sweat trickles down your face causing you to suddenly realize how warm it is. No, it isn't warm, it's hot. But that doesn't make sense, it shouldn't be hot at this time of the morning. In fact, it shouldn't be this hot at all, it's the middle of Autumn.

As you ponder the oddness of it all, your thoughts are interrupted by a scratching sound outside.

What do you do?
A. Listen closely to the sound to see if you can tell what's causing it.
B. Go investigate the sound
C. Ignore the sound and try to go back to sleep
D. Ignore the sound and get up

(Sorry for the long opening. I promise the next scene won't be nearly this long, I just needed to lay a solid foundation)

I think I'll go with
B - Go investigate the sound
simply for the sake of choosing some thing different ( A was my original choice as well ).
I really doubt any thing seriously bad would happen this early in the story, so I think it would be more exciting and or interesting if he / she actually goes to check it out.

I loved the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books as a kid, so I'm looking forward to how this plays out

I go for B as well to Go investigate the sound.

This is going to be so fun! It reminds me of books I used to read when I was younger. Great choice to make this thread big bro. I'm sure it will be like plenty of fun!

Eirinn :

Ahhhhhh!!! I'm scared! I woke up when I'm not supposed to. It's really hot, and it shouldn't be. And there's a strange noise outside...(noise gets louder)
Fake Answer:
E: Hide under the covers, pray whatever is coming to get me doesn't see me! (LOL)
Real answer
A&B: Before Investigating,I would probably listen to see what it is. I would like to have an idea of what I might be getting myself into

B.

You listen for a moment to see if you can determine the source of this noise, but quickly decide you can't simply sit back like this, you must act. After all, that blasted thing is probably what woke you up, right?

Sliding your feet over the edge of your bed and into your warm slippers (you can't stand the feel of the cold hardwood floor against your blanket toasted feet in the morning) you pull the chain on your bedside lamp, get up, and inch your way toward the bedroom door. After steeling yourself you slowly grab the knob, turn it, and give the door a push, causing it to creak open, sounding much louder than you recall it sounding before. As the door opens the front room is dimly lit by the soft glow of light emanating from your tiny little lamp, it's hardly enough to see your way to the front door, but after a few moments of staring into the darkness your eyes begin to adjust and you manage to see well enough to make your way through the unusually eerie room.

At last you reach the door and place a trembling hand on the lock, first unlocking the chain lock, then the knob itself, finally your hand grips the knob and begins to slowly turn it. You pause just before pulling it in toward you. Are you sure you want to do this? The front door is the only barrier left between you and the peculiar scratching sounds coming from outside. As you think a bit more on it, you notice the sound has stopped. Before relief can set in however, the sound returns, but this time it's on the other side of the door you're about to open. The noise is following you? panicked, you stumble backwards, unfortunately you failed to turn loose of the knob first, and the door come flying back with you. At this point you would be cursing yourself were cursing not so inefficient, just wasted words you suppose.

Your mind is brought back to the present as your eyes lock onto someone - or something else's. Two small glowing eyes lunging toward you. The eyes, accompanied by a body, slam paws first into your chest, sending you sprawling to the floor breathless. At this point you would scream if only you were able to, but you can't even breathe, much less scream, whether from the impact, the fall, or the weight of this beast standing on top of you. The creature is rather large, you would judge it to weigh at least eighty pounds, and it's body is roughly half the length of your own. A stray beam of light from your lamp reveals it's identity to you: this thing atop you is a jaguar!

Petrified by the sudden realization, you become perfectly stiff from sheer terror. The large cat however seems to be in no hurry to harm you, and in fact seems almost relieved to see you, and though you would greatly appreciate it if this thing would take it's massive front paws off of your sternum, you find yourself relaxing a bit as you stare into it's eyes. At that moment, almost as if it understands that you're not going to run away now, it slowly steps off of you and begins padding it's way to your side, it's clawed feet clicking against the hard floor with each step. You slowly rise to your feet being sure to keep an eye on the creature all the while. Once you stand up again it walks toward you, head held low to show it isn't aggressive. As it reaches you it rubs it's head against your legs. Well then, this IS quite awkward now isn't it.

The strange moment is soon ended as the jaguar walks into the doorway and turns to look at you. It then takes another step and turns to look at you again. It seems to be wanting you to follow it.

What do you do?

A. Follow it. You aren't about to argue with a jaguar!
B. Talk some sense into the thing. This is silliness! Going out at 4 AM is an inefficient waste of resting time!
C. Nothing.

(Glad to see so many people are interested!)

Eirinn : Whew! At least I found out what the thing was. Not knowing is what scares me the most. Also, any jaguar that doesn't up and kill you when it gets the chance I would say is worth paying attention to. Plus, I just happen to like cats. So I would have to go with A.

A. It seems like a nice jaguar, so of course we have to follow it! (Sounds legit, right? =P j/k ) This story is getting more interesting by the minute. XD It's too bad I missed the first part of the story, but I would have chosen B, go investigate the sound.

Mynamescox44 : (true that would be wise, but then again, rarely is it wise to follow a jaguar. xD)

A.
You waste no time deciding to follow the jaguar, after all, this is far from ordinary and who are you to argue with such a thing? You've never been one to argue with the unexplainable, just ignore them, but it's hard to ignore a jaguar in your living room. You head out the front door and instinctively stop to pull it closed behind you, a move the jaguar doesn't notice until it's gone several feet ahead of you and become nearly invisible in the dark.

"Hey! Wait up!" you call to your own astonishment, both because you just talked to a jaguar, and because you actually yelled at it. You're no expert on wild animals but even you are pretty sure that it isn't wise to shout at a jaguar. Of course logic might suggest that following a jaguar into the dark isn't wise either, but logic kind of went out the door the minute the jaguar came in it.

The jaguar complies and stops to look back, it's glowing eyes being your only clue to it's whereabouts in the unusual darkness. However as it stops and looks back you could swear it huffs at you as though it's agitated by your slowness. You start to say something about it but realize how futile trying to reason with someone who doesn't understand basic English would be, kind of like Bob. You still don't like Bob.

The jaguar leads you through your backyard and into the woods behind it. You moved to this location on the edge of town years ago because the seclusion and distance from the disorganized hustle of the inner city suited your rather particular preferences well. Still you'd never bothered to look in the woods as it was a waste of valuable time to do something so pointless. Such idleness didn't agree with your efficiency driven life. But now here you are following a wild cat through them, and frankly the change from a rigid schedule scares you beyond belief. You hate not knowing exactly what to expect and precisely when to expect it. You hate feeling like you're not completely in control. It scares you, and your fear manifests itself in a borderline violent trembling all throughout your being.

After what seems like an eternity to your frightened mind, you step into a clearing. It appears to be an old campsite set up long ago, though little is left of it but a circle of stones where the fire had been and a few smooth and large stones around it that seem to have been used as seats, each one being roughly the size of a watermelon. The jaguar looks back at you and seeming to sense your fear, comes back and gently rubs against your leg again. It's a surprisingly soothing thing for a jaguar to nuzzle you, you decide. The large cat then looks up at you and turns to walk toward one of the large stones, it sits next to a stone and stares at you. You take the suggestion and sit on the stone and the jaguar lays it's head in your lap. Again a very awkward situation. Before long your trembling subsides, and your fear is replaced by wonder at the moment and the slightest bit of curiosity as to why this creature has brought you here. It feels significant, but why?

Your thoughts are interrupted as the large animal rouses quickly, jerking it's head roughly from your lap. The quick motion is understandably a startling one when it involves you, a jaguar, and being in the middle of the woods in the dead of night. Your eyes immediately shift from the surroundings to the intimidatingly powerful looking cat before you, and you notice to your dismay that it's looking at you angrily, it's teeth bared and a growl rumbling from it's throat followed by the most petrifying cry you've ever heard. This is it: you're done for. Why did you ever follow this thing out here? That was such a dumb thing to do. A real Bob move. Even now you really don't like Bob.

The cat lunges and you close your eyes and scream, or at least you try to scream but a hoarse whimper is all you manage. No matter, you're cat meat now anyway.

You hear a thud. The same thud you heard when this thing pounced you back in your home. You hear the sound of large claws tearing flesh. You realize you're still sitting on your rock making that same pitiful sound you were making when you first closed your eyes, and the attack sounds are coming from behind you. You turn to look at what's going on and see two jaguars fighting. It wasn't trying to attack you after all, it was trying to protect you. The thought strikes you as strange and sweet all while somehow terrifying you.
You watch as the two cats battle it out, evenly matched. You don't know how you can tell which one is your jaguar, but you can. As both are beginning to bleed more than you feel comfortable with, at least more than you're comfortable with yours bleeding, you begin to evaluate your situation and decide what you must do.

What did you decide to do?
A. Run. You don't know which cat will win and you don't want to be there if the wrong one does.

B. Help your jaguar. Though you're not sure just when it became yours, it's your friend and it didn't abandon you when you needed it, so you aren't about to abandon it when it needs you.

C. Hide. Hopefully if the wrong cat wins it won't try to sniff you out.

You got to go with B, ya know? Maybe it's just me and my burdensome sense of loyalty, but I feel you should look out for those who look out for you.

Although, besides "defending" you from a Jaguar that may or may not have attacked you in the first place ( maybe it was going for the other Jaguar and not the human? ), I'm not really sure what it's done for the main character lol

B. What are you waiting for?! D= Your Master is dying! You belonged to the jaguar the moment you allowed it to place its head in your lap. Hurry and help it or you might get disowned (or eaten by the other jaguar, if it doesn't want you as its pet).

Eirinn : Well, let me see...A jaguar can outrun me, so as cowardly as running is, it won't even do any good. Also, the mean jaguar will totally sniff me out. They're hunters for crying out loud! And as long as I'm sure I can tell which one is the nice jaguar, I'll definitely join the fray! Though, I doubt fists will do much good against a big jaguar. Maybe I can just confuse it long enough for the other one to finish it? Of course, this wouldn't be an issue if I had just decided to bring my bow and arrow...or sword...or boomerangs...or bombs...But dang it all, stupid cat woke me up in the middle of the night--typical!--and, like Bob, I just decided to follow it!

But yeah, there is no option. only B. Help the cat!

A: The above comment convinced me almost. True enough one couldn't outrun a wild animal however it is injured so there is still that possibility.

B.
With little hesitation you do something you would have deemed an act of lunacy only an hour ago: you pick up the stone you were sitting on and throw it at the attacking jaguar. You can't help but feel a twinge of guilt when you see (and hear) the large rock hit the other cat, but you know you did what you had to do. The force from the impact sends the jaguar staggering backwards which gives yours more than enough time to land a few solid blows and send the other running away injured.

Realizing it's finally over you heave a sigh of relief. Your relief is short lived however as you notice that your jaguar is limping back to you instead of taking the strong and sure strides that it was using before. Running on instincts and emotions you rush to it, and kneeling down by it, reach your hands out. The large animal practically collapses by you, it's head once again in your lap. Taking another look you notice that it's wounds are worse than you'd first thought.

"You're gonna be okay." you whisper gently to the cat, "You'll be fine. Hey, 'you shoulda seen the other guy' right?" your humor of course doesn't even register on the jaguar, and all it gives you in reply is a loud heave of hot breath. This animal is clearly not well, but you refuse to give up on it. For some reason you feel compelled to help it, as though you've known it much longer than a few minutes or hours...whichever the case may be. Who knows what time it is? You glance at your watch but it quit working at 3:26 AM apparently. Probably broke it by wearing it to bed too much or something. It's a habit you've had for as long as you can recall, though it's never had this particular effect on a timepiece before.

Unsure of what else to do, you simply place your arm across the feline and sit there while it rests. As it does so, you look about, trying to figure out what on Earth is going on and why you're still out here. Clearly the jaguar had no purpose in dragging you to this place and it would only make sense to go back home, if only you knew which way home was. Your eyes are very quickly growing heavy as the night's events seem to finally be taking their toll, and before you know it, you dose off.

You wake with a start, surprised to find that the cat is nowhere in sight, and even more surprised to see that you're inside. This building however is not your home, moreover it doesn't seem to be from your country. In fact - and you're sure this must be your imagination running wild - it doesn't even seem to be from your time. Indeed, it resembles something one might see in a live action play of Aladdin.

Hearing a knock (more like someone practically beating your door down) you rise from the pillow you were sitting on, stride across the dirt floor of the building which consists of only one room, and open it to find a short man in ragged apparel, a sword strapped to his side.

"Quickly," he begins "now's our chance. The guards are changing their patrols." he says then turns to run.

"What? Who are you? What are you talking about? Where am I?" the questions almost flow out faster than even you could process them. With a quick glance down at your own self you add one more "Who am I?"

The man turns and looks at you puzzled "What kind of crazy questions are those? Come now, we haven't time for foolish games, they'll execute him at sun up if we don't get there quickly!"

"Wait!" you call in vain as the short man has run on and is already out of earshot. What is happening? Where are you? And where is the jaguar? All you know is that whatever this is, it's very real.

What now?
A. Run after the short man to save...whoever it was he wanted to save.

B. Lie down and hope you wake up back at home. This has just been a dream, jaguar and all.

C. Wander around the town in search of answers.

A: Follow the guy. If you are running from the guards wandering around town is unsafe.

And considering your watch stopped close to the witching hour it is most likely a spell not a dream. My guess being whomever's body you are in now probably used the Jaguar as a conduit. The only way you could take over their body and them yours was to become emotionally attached.

((Glad to be here. ^^))
