zanderlex : In Glendale Community College in Arizona which we go to, treats his A+ as an A because that is how they calculate grades in their school, but when we transfer over to a university, the university will recalculate our cumulative GPA on their own terms and designating more specific of the kind of A's, B's and C's you receive from past colleges and universities, such as an A+ in the university will be like a 4.33 GPA. Then an A will be a 4.00 GPA. Last and least of the A category is A- which is 3.76 GPA and they do that for a B and a C in GPA at their university. While community colleges might only treat A+ and A- as just an A for 4.00 GPA, so pretty much as A+ is a high A in a class and then an A- is a low A in a class. Have you ever heard of that from a university you will be transferring to after you get your Associate's Degree? I am not sure if every university does it, but I heard from the university we are going to, does it, so we will be reevaluated on our GPA and your new GPA that comes from it, will be a GPA of the university, and depending of low A's or high A's in our classes will either be reevaluated with 3.76 or 4.33 respectively to low A and high A.

happiness7 : Lucky, in all of new York, most of the school systems don't even allow a GPA above 4, even getting that rare A+ just gives a boost to your GPA if you got a lower grade somewhere else.

I already went to a university and that's not at all how it works here, grades don't even get transferred at all, not even all the credits, you just lose your GPA, like when I switches schools I have to do the two years for my associates even though I already did 1.5 years in another school.

zanderlex : In ASU and NAU in Arizona for those are two universities I looked at, they recalculate you starting GPA with the classes you have selected to transfer over to the university and you use those transferred credits to get partial done with your Bachelor's degree with classes that are similar to the university classes and to not have to take those same classes that you transferred over to the university. At least, that is how I think it goes in ASU and NAU.

happiness7 : That's cool, that doesn't happen at all here, but I'm glad I doesn't because my GPA probably would have dropped a lot if it took into account the grades from my other school, instead if doing that, they just wiped everything from my record and all of my grades and my GPA is only what I got from this school.

zanderlex : Yeah, but every decision, I think is like a double-edged sword or is mixed with good and bad information with them. Because if you do not get to transfer over credits, you have to spend more money and time trying to keep yourself in college or a university even too, but when you get your credits transferred over, you get a revised and reissued GPA and have less time to spend trying to retake other classes, but in university classes now and you spend less money for the retake classes by probably thousands of dollars in university classes, so it depends on you how you want to tackle the issues on both sides of a spectrum. Also when you do not get to transfer your classes, you probably be regurgitating what you learned before from a community college and might score higher in a class from a university than you did in community college and that will be a better and improved grade from last time you took the class, so your GPA does not suffer from your community college attempts at that same class. Then when you get to transfer over credits to a university then you might get bad grades transferred over that puts your GPA in a bad place that you might be suffering with no opportunities to get a scholarship or a grant, so both ways can be pretty tough and can be pretty happy astonishing. I might not be sure if the universities I mentioned actually does recalculating of GPA, but last time I checked it looked to me like that is what they do for transferring students.

EDIT: I searched for a university and one in California does recalculation of GPA for a university GPA. The university is called University of California, so I guess some universities do recalculation of GPA and transfer over credits grades from community colleges you previously went to in the past.

Ha, got better grades than I did for my university. I got 1 A, 2 B, and 1 D-. D- was from math and the main reason was because our teacher wasn't native to American Sign Language. She got most of us confused pretty much all of time. That, and I flunked on the final exam, not even being aware that it worths 25% of overall grade so it dropped from B to D-. I still "pass" it nevertheless, so I don't have to worry about it next semester.

So I was able to get a digital copy of my transcript today and it looks pretty cool. I was about right on my GPA. I thought it would be a 3.82-3.85 and it's a 3.84 overall. The GPA for the semester was a 3.69 which is still awesome and is still an A.

In total, I now have 44 credits which is cool, need about 16 more but I think I might need a few more required courses than that.

18mlivingston : Nope, my grades suck now, probably a couple C's and whatever so my GPA now will probably drop by almost a whole point.
