Of course, Blitzball is only in Final Fantasy X, so not that many people might have played it, but if you have or at least know of it, what are your thoughts? I personally think its one of the best mini games any video game can have, because it's literally a full fledged sports game within an RPG. A somewhat accurate representation of what the sport is like would be underwater Quidditch without brooms and its a lot of fun. You can play full seasons, and you even have to pay your in game money to sign players to contracts and even sign players from other teams.

There was one time where I just stopped playing the main game altogether and played Blitzball for a good 20 hours in total until I ran out of money for contracts because it was so cool. What are your thoughts?

Lots of people hate Blitzball. I think it's fun with all the stats and math and how realistic-ish it is with contracts and stuff. But I always found it too easy, and getting Wakka's ultimate crap is super long. Blitzball is fun, but not for super long periods of time. And that song is so repetitive...

zanderlex : Seriously? I didn't understand Blitzball AT ALL. I just randomly launched the game on my brother's file and started Blitzball and didn't know what breaks were, how the values worked, or the controls and kept losing like 0-12. Then I took the tutorial the game has just for the basics (took about 5 minutes) and won the next 10 matches or so. And my Blitzball team was level 1 and all the players were like like 3-5...

Perhaps it was hard for you to win games because you didn't have Brother on your team? You CANNOT have a Blitzball team without Brother. He has the highest base speed stat and the highest speed growth by a huge amount, and also has an incredible attack and shoot/accuracy stat, so you can literally just swim around everyone else and do pot shots and get goals form your side of the field. Also I think he comes with Wither Shot.

Except for the missing water (you look like you are flying), blitzball is every bit as addictive as my friend told me when she first introduced me to Final Fantasy X. It is probably the best sidequest of the game since there is a lot of action. And once I FINALLY found out how to get Jecht's shot, it even got easier!

TheFadedWarrior : It has been a long time so I am not sure who Brother is. However I found that Tidus is usually the one shooting for the goal and getting it almost all the time

TheFadedWarrior : I don't really remember who was on my team, but after a few seasons, nobody could beat me, that was until I played for so long that I didn't have enough money to keep all my good players.

janus : Tidus is the best, especially with the ultimate, never can defend that, sometimes I can go and score 2-3 goals a minute now because of it. It's to the point where if you miss that shot it's because you were very unlucky.

I honestly loved blitzball to a near unhealthy level. Like, I kid you not, I probably had 200+ games under my belt on the PS2. When I got the remastered version, again, I played it probably more than I did the end game content. Actually, it isn't even a probably, I have no doubt that I played it more than in-game content. For whatever reason, when I went to get Waka's celestial weapon, I started to really dislike blitzball. I'm not sure why, but it went from being fun - to being a chore. I guess because I had to do it, I didn't want to do it.

I don't play blitzball anymore honestly, but man it was really fun. I always kind of wished that Square released a side game for like 20 bucks of straight Blitzball featuring Final Fantasy characters. I know I would have definitely gotten it as long as they 100% avoid what they did to blitzball in Final Fantasy X-2.

Where to start....I remember back in my childhood days I hated blizball for life. I simply never understood it well of how the game was meant to run. Also for the fact you had to play one in the story mode of it. I began to well try again to play blizball some years later when my bro went to university. I actually liked it more because I knew somewhat of how to play blizball. I kept on playing until I was a pro at it. And man was I happy. I now love blizball with all of my heart. Of course you will have to play to get wakkas ultimate weapon and stuff. I play for fun and get more reliable items that I need. Or new moves as well. I do advice do not get the jecht shot 3 its not worth it. Stick to the second one its the most powerful one. After getting the 3rd one and I used it only once the move sucks. To me the jecht shot 2 is far more best, powerful and will get the shots that you need in to get a lot of scores. ^-^

Eniitan : However once you get "too good"... it kind of takes the thrill out of the game. I mean, I could easily defeat my opponents 10 to none, but since my goal is to get all the goodies I simply hung out behind my net to pass time.

Yeah, I didn't like ot when I first played it because it was so hard, took me a couple hours to beat the part that was in the story mode but then after a while the game started to grow on me and then I started to love it.

Ha ! Not sure why, but I too loved Blitz-ball, I even made a separate game file just to play that instead, totally forgetting the main story line for about 2 weeks.I had a decent strategy worked out with the formations and ball possessions, made it the absolute mini-game I've ever seen in an RPG as well. Not to get off topic, but if there would've been another one, I would've put golf into "Vice City"

zanderlex : Not sure if I got lucky with a good starting team, or just came in with a good strategy, it's been so long I can't remember exactly how I pulled it off, but my winnings were enough without "buying" new players, um, I did have the strategy guide though.

zanderlex : I'm always late when it comes to new games now, but when my girlfriend, at the time, had a PS2, she wanted the game, I wanted the guide, don't get me wrong, I only used it when/if I got stuck on something, or forgot where I was going. I always played the same way in RPGs though. Save up on everything, wait to move on until you can 1-hit the enemies, by then you have enough gold or whatever, to be able to get a good start on the next "guy".

I have to agree Zander, Blitzball is one of the best mini-games of all time. Like you said, I stopped the game altogether at one point and played until all my Gil was gone in contracts. My question is, has anyone else ever beat the Luca Goers in the very first game in the story? It was so hard and down to the last 14 seconds, but somehow I pulled it off. I played Blitzball to the point that Tidus was so good I could do about 9 or 10 Jecht Shots each half, scoring about 17-20 every game. I was just steamrolling people at that point
