As the title says what is the best first person shooter in your book? I would say bf4 is the best fps in my book (before anyone says but it's a M rated game!!! I will say this I have played M rated games.... I have even played gta and I am not freaked out or about to go kill anyone. In my opinion I think it all depends on how mature they are.)  I think that the online is fun (and before anyone says you should not play online because of voice chat.... I turn it off) and the campaign is very..... interactive and fun.

I would say Half-Life, or System Shock 2 are the best. Although there are a few other shooters that are fun. Those stick out to me the most.

I've played a few games in this series, but the games I had the most fun with, are the Borderlands and the Resistance series.

Borderlands is just a silly, action, crazy, loot fest.

And Resistance has some of the coolest weapons in a fps that I can think of. My favorite being the Bullseye. It's basically that gun you see in the Bruce Willis movie, The Fifth Element. You shoot a tag on an enemy, and every bullet you fire, goes to that spot. My favorite thing to do, is tag the head, run for cover, shoot over or around the cover, and headshot that fool. Plus, it's a decent sub machine gun.   I also love the Auger, it allows you see enemies behind through walls and behind cover. Then, you can shoot them through the wall or cover. In addition, the Auger has a secondary fire option, that will throw down a shield you can see through. That way, if there isn't any cover and you need some cover, Secondary fire the ground, and you have instant cover that enemies can't shoot through... But you can, with the Auger. XD  So many great weapons in that game.

In my opinion, the best FPS is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which is on Steam. I have played a bunch of other games like Battlefield and Modern Warfare, but there is nothing like this one. Literally after just a month of playing CSGO it was my most played game on Steam because there's so much to do whether you are just playing against bots or with other people. Never saw a better FPS than this one.

I have never been a fan of shooters when you basically kill everything in sight. I would rather use my brain a little than mindlessly shoot.

That is probably why I can still enjoy Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. Yes, you shoot a lot, but shooting EVERYONE will bring you to the Dark Side and make the game more difficult - being absolutely faithful to the Light Side gives you protection, which basically makes you invincible. Plus, the perspective you get with a lightsaber makes the game more enjoyable

The best ever first person shooter that I have played is without a doubt Call of Duty: Black Ops. Just the first one, not the second one or any of the other Call of Duty games like Modern Warfare or Ghosts or World at War...JUST THE FIRST BLACK OPS! In my opinion, it had the perfect gameplay speed. It wasn't too fast, but it was fast enough for my type of gameplay. Nowadays, you have these perks that you can combine to make your player insanely fast and impossible to hit in close combat. It p-es me off so much, and it just keeps getting worse with each new Call of Duty release. Hopefully Black Ops 3 will be playable for me.

I didn't mean to rant a little there...its just my opinion

MattyIce : BO1 and WAW were the best CODs to date, though. It's a shame WAW is hacked to death and hardly any legitimate users playing (average of 3000 online in late 2014, must be going lower now).

MW3 is utter trash as is AW, Ghosts had a rubbish campaign story and BO2 is too easy.

Killzone 2 is a good FPS, it's lesser known than COD and BF, and is only on the PS3 but it's got a really good story mode.

My favorite fps would have to be F.E.A.R 2.  I've always enjoyed anything horror related and this game reminded me of one of my favorite mods for Half Life 2 known as Nightmare House 2.  I'm sure the latter was actually inspired by F.E.A.R and not the other way around but I played Nightmare House 2 first.  Besides the fact that it's horror themed it was also a very competent fps.  The bullet time was cool and there were some sequences when you were able to enter a mech.  Take that Titanfall!

It's not strictly a first person shooter, but it certainly could be considered one, Metroid Prime 2.

As for a straight up FPS, I'd say Bioshock 2.

And my favorite military FPS would be Medal of Honor: Frontline. What an incredible game, especially for the time.

For me. I gotta go with the uno and only, Bioshock Infinite. This game has great game play, you got these magic spells called vigors that you could combine together to make them stronger, for example, if you have Murder of Crows and Devils Kiss, you can light some crows on fire and throw em at them dudes faces. The characters and story were pretty cool although the ending imo was disappointing. It's prob in me top 10 and i rate it a 9.77 if ya know what i mean.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 1.

I'm sorry, but that game was just so amazing, and nobody ever mentions it when they talk about the "good 'ol days" of Call of duty. Just all around great game, especially the story. You really have to respect that story, it's got depth and twists, and man I wish they would remaster that game for PS4 already.

Honestly, I can't choose between a few. Goldeneye IS my favourite game, but for more nostalgic reasons. But that and Perfect Dark, they're really great. Honestly, GTA V was amazing when played first-person. It takes some time to relearn how to do EVERYTHING, but, it's worth it. Other than that, maybe Portal 2, or Deadlocked.

Loved Golden Eye and Perfect Dark so much that I learned one of the songs from Perfect Dark on the guitar.  Golden Eye more for nostalgic reasons as well.  Grew up going to my best friend's brother's house and playing four player golden eye on his 500 pound flat screen

The Deus Ex franchise is a very strong contender personally, but that's because of the stealth aspects and the ability to avoid combat by persuading others. Having tons of gadgets and skills to take out enemies really brings the experience to another level.

For straight up action: Halo on Legendary difficulty with a partner is a blast (and hard as hell), and if that fails, then probably CoD: World at War.

I haven't played much FPS's for a while now so for my favourites I have to go back to my PS2 time and I have to say my 2 favourites were Timesplitters: Future Perfect and XIII.

Timesplitters had a great multiplayer with crazy characters and simple but very good map creator.
XIII had beautiful comic graphics and an exciting story.

The only FPS's that i've enjoyed lately was Half Life 2 (old one too, but I played on 360) and Farcry 3.

Although the fps games I played have their pros and cons, I have to go with Block N Load, which is the child of Minecraft and Team Fortress 2.
(Block to build defenses and characters with their own play-style and personality) It's free on steam too, so why not try it?

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
