My first paid job was picking up strawberries in fields close to my parents' home. NOW I understand why so few people want to do it: it is back-breaking, it is tiresome and the pay is ridiculous. But it is apparently enough for the Mexicans who do it now...

My first "real" job was placing back books at my college's library. You know, if you can not put back a book according to its number, please let US do it.

My first job was electronic bank executive for a big bank (it sounds fancy, but it isn't) my advice is to chill out, and learn all you can. Even little things, should work in the future

My first job was working as a cart pusher at the local Wal-mart... during the hottest summer on record needless to say it was fairly nasty. One of the machines we used to push the carts around broke down and wasn't fixed for months because the store was too cheap to, so it always just happened that I (the smallest guy out there) ended up having to push the twenty to thirty carts at a time by hand, all the while the other cart pushers were yelling and screaming at me to go faster while they were doing just fine with the machine.
After about 6 months of that, one of them grabbed me and put a knife to me in the break room. Told the people over me what happened and went home, quit the job that next morning, had been wanting to quit for a while then but that event was the last nail in the coffin. There are just some things that aren't worth getting a knife in you for and 7.25 an hour in a hundred degree heat ain't one of them lol.

I use to help my mom in a funeral home mostly at midnight and 1am when I was about 10-12 years old and mostly just her and I alone in the whole place. Sometimes my brother who was two years older than me would stay as well and we'd play hide and seek and I remember hiding in a dark room in the very back of the funeral home which turned out to be where the caskets were. A bit scary. We would sometimes use the elevator that was just for transporting the bodies and caskets and that was a bit fun. We would also sometimes stay when the family was over and everyone was saying their goodbyes. I remember being around the corpses once they were in the casket and transported to the room where the family would be gathering and somehow it did not bother me much. My second job for which I actually made my own money was Taco Bell as a senior in high school and I hated every second there. Horrible, I quit and focused full time in college after two semesters I started looking for a job and ended up as an administrative assistant for a local recruiting life insurance company and I have been here for three years now as a Regional Recruiter. But, I have looked into programs to work in a morgue as I find it more in my preferred line of work not sure why but, I prefer less interaction with people and more time working alone.

The first job I have got was delivering bulks of newspapers to business. I got this job as soon as I graduated High School and it was a job I had to work during the overnight hours (like 11 PM - 6 AM), how I managed to pull that off, I don't know. It is pretty cool though, driving around to places with a key to open up paper boxes and loading them into there, basically get paid for driving and staying awake most of the time. I left the job because the overnight was a little too much for me

This is actually something I can relate to now.

My first job was at a sporting goods store called "Big 5 Sporting Goods". I'm a cashier there, and while it's retail, I find the job rather fulfilling.

It's not all that bad, despite what I was told about retail.

My first real job was at a cemetery. There was a small part of it that was my own kingdom with routines for every day. I would mow the law, take care of the flowers and make sure the paths would stay clean.

I had two bosses. First one was this nice almost sort of a hippie lady who always made sure that I would keep these wells there filled with water that squirrels would not drown in them. "Its such a terrible way to die, drowning. Poor little things." She also wanted me to use vinegar instead of poisons to get rid of weeds. And she did not mind if I moved the lawn on top of every grave to save time. Had the relatives of the occupants paid the church to do so.

Later she was sent away and this woman who hated her guts for some reason rreplaced her. She send me out to get the poisons from the garage instead of vinegar, got really angry at me if I moved the lawn on some poor buggers grave who was not paid on full and had I had the time she would have probably asked me to drown squirrels in the wells by my own hands. And puppies too if I would have find them. Since I had been friends with her predecessor and found her more humane ways more appropriate we did not get along very well and I quit.

Too bad. The life in the cemetery could have been the one for me. I got along well with the guy who worked the crematorium. He said "son, this is the easier job in the world. You only have to work every hour and a half. If you stay and you are ever offered this job, take it. Its way better to sit here inside than dig holes during the winter. Here, you have it made."

Oh well.

TheBWoods15 : Hey, I just applied to my first job as a bagger at a local market. I'm hoping I get it, but if not there are other options in my area as well :3

My first job was working at Taco Bell. I liked it for the first month or so, but then, six or seven months down the line, I started seeing the staff for who they really were, a bunch of drama queens that are ignorant and childish. So, I quit that job, simply due to drama in the work place, and how the store Manager wouldn't let me transfer to the Taco Bell that was closer to my house, and they were giving me outrageous hours with minimal breaks. Through out my entire experience with working at Taco Bell, from month one to month seven, I might have had only 25 breaks.

XiandelTV : You're the 2nd person I know from here who worked at Taco Bell and that sounds awesome. I love Taco Bell with all of my heart. I probably wouldn't have wanted to work there though, sounded like it was terrible.

My first real job was as a cook for a pizza place called "LaRosa's". Altogether I put in about 7 years there, eventually working my way up to delivery driver for more time than not. I miss that job like no other. I was literally allowed to smoke pot every day at work, and it was as easy as a job could be. Not to mention I brought in an insane amount of money in tips (from about $50 to $150 a day), while also being paid $8 an hour, and got reimbursed for mileage on the car. If I ever run into the person who lied about what I was doing to get me fired, they will die by my hands...
