*melody of original game's intro plays* Greed and destruction...these 2 words echo down the shattered remains of what once was Citadel Station's great beginning's and ultimate conclusion. Due to that so called "greed" the head man up at this company became insane built with the intent of becoming a semi-god like figure not knowing just how much his plans would come to foil him in the end...by his own despicable nature. What will become the nature of humanity after the loss of life/family during this horrific event? How can anyone EVER trust a company of this form again?! After not only causing devastation to the staff on board; but, the whole corporation's practice as well? With the cybernetic interface SHODAN losing her mind and nearly wiping out the whole earth, it's only a matter of time before anything can be trusted with A.I interfaces for a long time! Let's just hope they'll have learned from their mistakes, and we won't have to see this travesty unfold once more... *shows flashback* (Hacker) "These people are such idiots, you should never change an AI system like that and let "It" have all the control against your ship. It's not like I care though as if this comes to bite them in the behind...that'll be THEIR problem not mine!"
~42 years later~  Welcome home viewers and all, to the brand new relicensed Tri-op we promise a nice and reassuring journey this time around! We apologize for before; but, hope you'll trust us with our maiden voyage now...welcome aboa..bbzt......*signal comes in* this is dr. zero tails reporting. Something has come onto the Von Braun and hijacked our ship, not sure how long we can hold out for help, one thing though! Do NOT allow the Rickenbacker to leave for any reasons! Who knows what could be happening h....*signal cuts off* please respect the will of the Vizzed! *mechanical laughter heard deeper in* y-y-you can't leave my ex-x-existence i-irritant!

``??A spacecraft's tragic backstory, leading to deathly sights and fear all around!!``

*holds wrench in front of self in defense* Now now...I know you'll probably call me crazy for me giving this segment the score I am; but, please just take a nanite step back and I'll explain why. Basically when you think about it, this is 1999 and yes while the graphics NOW may not live up at all and look very old-school/poor. You have to think about what games we had out during the time, I don't seem to recall any of the following: "Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid,  or even Sonic Adventure" looking so marvelous either and each was only release a year or so before this game? Since you wouldn't really see these kinds of graphics until like 2004 or so on most consoles as well one of the best looking games on PC for the end of 90's/early 00's. (was even surprised when I first saw this game in 2012, then looked up how old it was) Although, to say that the graphics are perfect would be a complete lie. Since some of the character animations don't look so well compared to other games during this time, the couple of cut scenes you'll see throughout this game also don't appear to have the greatest sharpness quality to them...as they do appear a little too pixelated or cloudy for some reason? I'm perfectly aware though that these repetitive explanations are getting boring so how's about we jump straight into what makes the graphics appealing for the time and even today!

                [o]Hydroponics Deck]O[

If we're going to mention one place that actually caught me off guard/spooked me during a first playthrough, (or even just watching a let's play) it definitely has to be this breeding chamber of a deck. How can that be because...the name of the place doesn't sound that bad? Just an area where plant life grows and lives on, while scientists use or nurture it what's the big deal? Well... *elevator bumps and halts movement* ...that's the first reason as to why. This place has become infested with a ton of pollution and toxins scattered everywhere, whether it's in the form of worm clusters around the floor or eggs which hatch and spew toxic chunks at your player...it'll definitely try to end your life verrry quickly. With such a nightmare of a place, it makes you wonder what kind of strange creatures you may have to fight all around in this deck? How's about we start off with the fact that this deck starts off by adding a couple more "mutants" to the pack, one of which will probably be the strongest (or most annoying to some) for a long duration of the game. As you're running from point A to point B trying to collect a chemical known as "Toxin A" to unblock the elevator shaft, you'll run into the first "real" example of the "Cyborg Midwives" enemy.
Just imagine those normal...beaten and deformed figures of the regular monsters you'll have viewed from previous decks to now, and strip them down to half their weight/appearance, and rip off some of that skeletal flesh...then you'll have this disturbing and creepy monster aboard your adventure. (what makes it worse if when you collect the toxin she screams like: RAHHHHHHHH-HHAHHHN") You'll be running from what feels like a normal lab like area, changing to a holding bay for certain alien pods or the ships pressure tanks, and even to an area that keeps the same science theme and mixes it with the garden setting you'd expect from this area's name. So between the dark and dank atmosphere of this area and it's many split off sections; alongside, those creepy monsters which remain throughout your journey from then on....it's safe to say the hydroponics deck can leave you with a scare here or there. With it's chilling music and scenery only drawing you more and more into its darkness, just like the maintenance level from the company's past slip-up. Let's head out to the next example and see what awaits for us there...get moving! *runs ahead and gets hit with pod organ* ....Toxic Hazard!

                 |X|=Engineering Deck=x

Probably my favorite and most memorable deck of the entire Von Braun ship is this one right here, Engineering! Why do I say that when last time I never mentioned this deck?  Mostly for the fact that before it was just a standard area with a couple new enemies and issues you'd have to look out for; (higher toxic/rad rate) however, due to the sequel's more chilling tone of horror and not too action oriented this space became a perfect spot to inject that fear to players. Strangely enough, even though this is the first deck aboard the spacecraft it's actually the 2nd area you'll be venturing through sequentially? (unless you've played before and insert the code to ender here ) Boy if the venturing through the blood ridden walls of MedSci with hybrids running all about wasn't enough for ya, then this enclosed space will definitely start to invigorate the tense feeling of death and lonesomeness inside of you. As right away, when stepping down from the ladder of the previous level you're greeted with a enclosed off room and once you enter outside you're left with many differentiating paths to take with all them being tight and narrow. This may not seem like much of a scare; however, keep in mind that while you're down here at any given moment a hybrid or even a shotgun hybrid may come out from behind that narrow corner and attack you!
Still ain't enough for ya? Well if the sight of dead crew members and blood splattered messages on the way isn't enough for you...try to manage staying alive and find your way through when, like your "instructor" warns you, the radiation has clogged up the coolant tubes causing the elevators to become inoperable. Basically meaning that whatever you do between fighting or searching around, you'd best do it fast while you walk through hazardous rooms with radiation pouring out through the tubes of certain areas. (radiation appearing as a greenish looking gas) Between the screams and phrases they'll shout out towards you when being near/spotting you; alongside, all the other priorities you have to take care of while trying to just basically stay alive...it really makes you that tense feeling of fright or even worriment and it's only the SECOND level of the entire game?! We can't continue to spend too much time here like stated before, so let's hurry and end this segment off now! *runs around pathways and corners* .......Iiiii'mmmm Soooorrry.... *looks behind self*

I feel that this is a great place to put this section to a rest and carry on with the rest of the story and games atmosphere; but, before doing so there are a couple things I'd like to mention with graphics. (so the rating can be pure and honest) The first being that there is a mod that can be applied to this game to make it appear better; however, in my honest opinion though the enemies look more HD like it honestly take a lot away from the scary factor and the whole point to the enemy designs in the first place. (cyborg midwives face ripped off VS face intact but more so like a human cyborg) So hilariously enough, the 99' graphics seem best to me in terms of enemy designs and the only huge difference is the weapon looks besides the enemies as the backgrounds only seem very slightly more detailed/less obsolete.
Also a nice detail for some of you later fans of sci-fi horror games like this one, is that the creators of the original Dead Space had gotten their inspiration of a heavily dark/lonely atmosphere from this game even though it was almost a decade old at its time of release. Judging what we've said above I think it's pretty fair to say for its time it did really well in the graphics department, the feeling of it was great, and there aren't many issues you can bring up about it. (other than that the cut scenes are a little blurrier than the average game) With all of this I feel a 9 out of 10 score is deserved for its graphical design, as not every place is perfect or the best in looks yet definitely carries its own weight in most places!

*=*A grizzly and dark soundtrack, echoing throughout this UNN nightmare~=~

I seeeeeeeeee youuuu!! Runnnn RUNNNNN!!!! These words are just a few of the following phrases you'll hear monsters throughout this quest spout out towards you, as you run in agony trying to stay alive and head the objectives you're tasked to accomplish. As if the creepy atmosphere from the level design around you didn't toy with your emotions enough, the screams and statements made by enemies or audio logs...combined with the "usually" troubling and mysterious music makes for a definite psychological horror alright! The thing that makes the music horrific as all heck to me (especially when actually playing the game) is the fact that it fits so perfectly to the scenario you're thrown into when the area's theme plays. Basically picture yourself entering from one hallway into a new side/pod of the ship and just seeing countless bodies laying down next to one another, as that heartless and chilling beat starts playing in the background...forcing you to continue your journey along inside this nightmare of a ship...hoping to survive your adventure out and not end up likes those innocents upon the floor. There's plenty more to talk about; but, how about we get moving into some examples of exactly what I mean below hm?

                   [++MedSci Bay 2++]

Surprised? That's right in the sequel to the original classic we start off in another medical level....kind of. Unlike before this one isn't just related strictly to health and recovery, and is instead as you would guess from the name merged with a science based area. Ohhhhh boy...do they ever start you out straight from the gate into the terror you'll be venturing through along this quite extensive journey. You'd think that just like the previous time you'd start off in a more simplistic area where it wouldn't be as creepy; (such as the first game not getting too terrifying until the 3rd floor) and yet, it actually can be pretty terrifying at this beginning stage. After exploring a bit of the MedSci Bay 1 you'll enter through a vault door into Bay 2, to which right from the get go your ears are welcomed to a low and dreadful theme. It's almost as if this broken down blood soaked stage is saying to you: "hey...do you recognize any of these inhabitants? Really? Well...too bad they didn't survive long against the dreaded experiments unleashed onto the ship. You know...you may have just gotten here, but if you don't leave or are a failure...you'll end up like the rest of these worms!" which at least to me holds as not only shocking; but, just dire theme for a mistake/tragic event you haven't even really gotten to understand yet? Though the song may be depressing and horrible to some, I actually really enjoy the dark atmosphere the song gives you as it's letting you know...this isn't just some game it's a real nightmare that you NEED to escape! Take a listen if you like; although, just be sure you're protected and safe from any..."pets" that may come your way. *turns around and bashes wrench against wall near hybrid*

                 _///Credits Theme\_

WAIT! Hold it, hoold it, hooollld it! I know what some of you are going to say: "huuuuuuh what are you doing you should know spoilers aren't allowed here! delete this segment out now before you even write it in!" to which I must say...first off you're not even going to let me explain? Secondly, you do know that these are the end credits of the game and not an ending cut scene or anything? I'm sorry; however, if knowing that the A.I programmer of this game is named Jonathan Gray ruins the whole game for you then...I think you need to leave this review or any mentioning of games in general. Now that the spoiled arachnids are out of the way, what is it that makes the "credits" theme of a game so interesting to listen to? That's usually the last thing you would expect to be on a favorites list; and yet, it's honestly a really great theme to "really" end the game off with after having accomplished that huge task put upon you. The main interesting point about this song is that it's actually a semi-remix of an already existing song in the game, mixed together with some sound effects from a certain enemy and causing it to be even MORE pumping/invigorating after a job well-done!
By adding in a few techno-ish drum beats to the melody it really gives more of a dramatic feeling for all that time you spent aboard the Von Braun and many "other" areas I'm sure you'll be able to look back upon. As funny as this may sound, the graphics you see during these credits also make the music better than the normal "Ops 2 deck" theme you'd hear throughout the normal game somehow? Just seeing each one of the level designers, game testers, or other members of the staff in dead/strange poses giving a ridiculous bio on them. xD Trust me, I mean...RIDICULOUS bio's! "Gareth Hinds: considered unarmed; but, extremely anti-social" which in my eyes just makes the music sound more special and perfect for the ending!

This brings us to the end of our sound exploration. As we can see the sound department was REALLY taken care of by not only adding interesting and mysterious songs to hear during our travels; but, some creepy voices/sound effects from monsters or audio logs. It really just takes you into the game, tosses you around, and let's you know: "hey! you went to train for us and though it'd be fun?? Time for some overwhelming fear to take over your system!!" just...I'm sorry; just that, *claps hands* Looking Glass you managed to impress yet again with this sequel in design and symphony wise...even if the 2 games are so far apart. I promise you fans of the horror genre or sci-fi genre you won't be disappointed when you take in this games melodies! Leaving us soldiers with a 10 out of 10 score upon this games sound quality! *beat drops when searching and running from worm pods*

___An adventure between the life and death of many, captivating your interests to their highest enjoyment___

Already just by looking from the past sections up above, you can already guess easily that I find this game to be quite an entertaining game to play even now and again. You'd be correct even with how old this game may be and not as visually appealing by today's standards; however, that never has been a big issue to me so no worries here! What is the BIGGEST selling point of this game to me is the way it portrays an even MORE devastating and tragic story than the previous entry, which is a surprise since usually sequels don't tend to live up quite as well as their predecessor in terms of quality or style. Such a varied difference between stories just adds that extra layer of mystery and suspense when you progress and learn more about the atrocious secrets hidden amongst the staff/creworkers, leading to what I feel as a very addictive plot and gameplay factor. Another thing that might peak your interest is the ability (like with RPG games) to build your character up how you wish...System Shock 2 does that same deal however; the only difference is that each upgrade you take will affect just how well you're able to advance throughout your playthrough.
Making sure you use your upgrade points wisely and not just haywire thinking it'll be a piece of cake to have one thing over the other! All of this combined with just a richer and more somber atmosphered game where as one mistake can lead to your demise within seconds against an enemy, and as said before how being isolated from any life just sets that anxiety response amongst the player. Just sets the perfect tone and experience for playing this game, and will surely leave you returning to it at another point to experience that fear once more! We shouldn't sit and repeat ourselves though, instead let's take a look at another feature within this game that makes it truly addictive to play through and enjoy with each time you click "new game".

            06[Audio Logs]59

Yes, like many games of this late decade voice acting became a highly regulated norm inside video gaming. (mostly becoming popular in video game consoles) Now if you don't recall back from the original system shock, there actually was voice acting done in the forms of intro cut scenes and/or emails you'd get throughout your journey of Citadel. The one strange point about this; however, is the fact that your character is a mute throughout the entirety of the game and never do you get to meet anyone face to face whom will actually speak with you. Where you'll really hear the voice acting a lot though during your game, will be through Audio Logs that you'll find throughout the station...during these times you can pick up the logs and either: "A. listen to the voices of the characters speaking out their log or B. Reading what they had out without having to listen" as such it really adds to that ambient feel of loneliness. Irrational Games & Looking Glass Studios had decided to stick to this traditional format with this sequel; although, this time they added a couple outside scenarios where you may see 2 alive crew members running from a experiment run amok on the Von Braun while keeping the same audio system from before intact. (and improving the quality as well, to not be as cringeworthy due to high pitches like before)
So there's definitely a little more variety and it really keeps you involved in the game, trying to somewhat break the ambiance; however, adding to it as once it ends...you're all alone once more. Also with the fact of not seeing any other passengers that are alive, hoping that with these messages they'll have hidden out somewhere safe. With these discs being the only real safe haven from your solitude; and yet, at the same time some of the more "tragic" inducing moments as you hear other personnel step in and betray their comrades...or in retrospective...you get to hear those betrayed usually being "taken care" of before the message shuts off on you. It's....man....when you step into this game and you can just hear certain character's voices morph into something so...repulsive and nightmarish, it just gets to you and makes you wanna listen more into the story. Moving forward from this tiny tid-bit though let's head out into the finishing part, before traversing deeper into our story!

When looking upon everything here, I hope I may have been able to give you a glimpse of "how" addictive this game may be to some players. If that doesn't hook some players in then the soundtrack and graphics that we noted up above, might hopefully give them a benefit of a doubt into seeing just how interesting this game may be as well as if they'd be able to leave it at all. We've already talk about that so no need to get sidetracked! This game offers you so soooo much for 99' it's amazing that they were able to fit so much in given the probable constraints at that time, and we'll go more into "depth" about how much there is to see/do during a simple runthrough. With the creepy and heinous story alongside its atmosphere that just sucks you in and refuses to let you go, as well as some other events we'll get into later...I hope just like the main character of this game you'll give "me" the benefit of a doubt when I say the game's addictiveness score is well deserving of an 8 out of 10!

::..:.:The mistake and teachings of one man, nearly destroying every trace of mankind.:.::..

Tri-Optimum...the most renowned brand across the earth, for its promise of high tech advancements and great progress for all of mankind...and for its inevitable downfall after creating the nightmare A.I that the world screamed in agony over. SHODAN a fearless an controversial program to which many people see it as a horrible mistake and mutiny by Tri-Op. Having it toyed around by a corrupt executive at the time, and turning her into a vicious beast of power...bloodthirsty by the idea of considering herself as a goddess and normal life as just insignificant maggots...until the hacker (her creator) stopped these ambitions. Leaving this company, as no more! Although, like with almost any company they make a comeback in the future. Excited to show us their sorrow for the past mistakes they made, and promising that with this maiden voyage they have planned that they'll include a lot more protection and less worries of take over with an entirely new A.I (Xerxes) that hasn't been touch by anyone except the overseer's of the project. The only slight fear being that one of the captains aboard the ship, is the prodigy son of the man whom destroyed not only this company; but, many other lives outside in the real world as well. Tri-Op wants to show the good deeds this son (William) has done in comparison to Edward hoping that it'll convince some people to trust William with this trip; alongside, this company as it's providing team.
While in this game your character (just referred to as a "Soldier") is training as support for this task and is soon accepted after having completed 4 years of work, and is then sent to a healing suite in order to recover from his training as well as the cybernetic interface he's provided as a high level measure against any take over. Again, we hope you'll enjoy this new form of our company and that we can please you all with new abilities and enhancements for all of society . *video feed cuts off* .....nngh we've been attacked by some kind of parasitic force that was allowed onto the loading bay's of the ship! Anyone! Take cover as much as you need and let Politio and others know of the situation we don't have any.......Youuu do not hideee FOREVER! *shotgun blast sounds off* AUUUGH!! *transmission killed* ........The Many are STRONG! ....... *cryostasis pod opens as v-mail plays over interface* Stay maintained Soldier! This is this is Janice Polito of the Computer-Ops staff of this vessel, you'll probably not be able to remember any events of the past few weeks or so due to your volunteered surgery for cybernetic implants. While you were away things have turned very very sour aboard the ship, a force known as the "many" has infested the Von Braun...you must rendezvous with me on deck 4...and watch your back as they'll know exactly where you are! *Solider looks around* ..... *picks up wrench from dead body and rushes towards door*

Honestly, and I'm not gonna lie when I first heard this story around 2012 I was surprised at how interesting it seemed for how old I figured it to be? When taking a look and hearing all this neat backstory and such a twisted plot compared to most games of its time period it was so shocking and just pulled me into it, just like the Solider you take control of in this game. Oh...and trust me if you think the twists noted above are all that you'll see in this game, you haven't really experienced anything yet as it'll just get even more sadistic and strange as time move on. Laugh if you want just like monsters of this game may; however, I'm going to say for how unique the writing was accompanied with all the other parts of the game that a 10 out of 10 score for its story seems perfect here! Continuing forward to our next stop now! ......ahahaha....foolish human, you daaaaare to defy m-my-mmyyy order! *walls and floor collapse revealing villain behind* welcome n-nuuusance! *soldier turns around appalled* o.O

^^<>Many choices and routes to explore, in this iconic gem of a nightmare<>^^

As stated above with the addictiveness segment System Shock 2 actually offers much variety with how you can choose to progress through the game or how you spend your time inside the game, which we'll explain more about during this segment. First though, let's get to the broad basics of what this section portrays and that's how long the game in and of itself can be. Much like a lot of things in this game, how long it can take to complete this game may surprise you as even well knowledged players can sometimes take 16+ hours to accomplish everything they need inside the game and reach the ending cut scene. So think about that for a sec...if it takes that long for someone whom KNOWS the game, imagine how long it would take for a newbie player of the game?! You may sit there and think: "it's mostly going to be backtracking that takes most of that time away :/" when in actuality there are only really 4 parts where you need to backtrack in order to progress through the game. Usually during that time anyway you're learning new things about the story as well as gaining upgrade modules, so it's not a complete waste nor really a "boring/annoying" side of the game either.
There actually aren't as many decks as the past entry into the System Shock duology as while the last game had 9~12 levels/decks inside of it, SS2 actually only has 6 main decks aboard the Von Braun and gets split into 2 other decks after leaving the original starting ship. What makes this so interesting though is the fact that even though there appears to be less areas, these levels are more fleshed out than the original game was making them longer in terms of what you were required to do...which is why the length of the game matches up evenly or even higher than the first games length. Now that this main point is out of the way let's walk into some other examples of what makes this game so vast in what it offers you!

         -+}{Skills and Equipment{}+-

Before I had stated that you were able to upgrade your character as your progress throughout the game, and that remains true as when you gain enough "cyber modules" and find the upgrade terminals you're allowed to upgrade certain perks/skills for your character. However! You need to be sparing with how often you upgrade yourself or just one certain skill; otherwise, it could end up being a waste of modules...or at least in a sense it'll be a waste when it could've been shared amongst other things to advance your character along. To give you an example, let's just say you decide: "oh I wanna upgrade my hacking all the way up, and not worry about others while I use standard weapons" which seems fine at first; although, sticking with that can easily be a downfall as unlike several games release during this time...your items (mostly) have a durability meter to them and if it goes too low it'll break on you and need repair. Some of you may look at that as a bad design; but, when you think about it...that is a problem that would occur normally in life if equipment isn't managed nicely and I actually love this as it makes it so you don't always feel so high and mighty amongst even the smallest of threats. (A great point for a horror game in general) Plus when you start off the game you're given a choice between 3 different branches (Navy, OSA, Marines) each of which upgrade your characters in certain ways and offers a nice starting point for the "Soldier" so you're not starting off completely defenseless during this journey amongst the Von Braun and its horror's.
Moving away from the basis of the skills and onto the items you'll use the skills on, the first thing we can talk about is the weapons. Similarly to Citadel Station you're able to find an assortment of weapons scattered about and some of these require a certain skill level as a requirement to use it, while others may just involve purchasing a discipline for it or having no requirements at all. (wrench/pistol = 0, Rocket Launcher = Heavy 1, PSI Amp = Discipline and purchasing power) One of the biggest changes in equipment is how you handle and what kind of armor or suits you may find during the game, as before you may have found a simple piece of armor or a radiation suit...while in this game it's more spread out. During play you may end up finding combat armor's that range from light~heavy quality as well as a powered suit of armor, all of which end up reducing the damage you may take from enemies or falls...some of the armor's require you to boost your strength up in order to equip them (guess from how big they are or how much it weighs?) I'm sure there'll be more things that you can find to equip and experiment with; although, I think I'll leave that for you to enjoy as I can't spoil everything for you now.

          ~(Extras)~

This is just going to be just a small section, because there were just a couple more things I wanted to mention that you can use/find during this game. The first of which being an MFD game player machine and can be found in many places amongst this vessel, and it can be interesting object to have when you may not be able to do much inside the story to progress as you may be researching something that you need to move on or something to that degree.  When using this you can play different games based on cartridges that you find amongst bodies or inside chests/boxes you can loot. These games not being as big as this game (obviously) and more like "Game and Watch" type scenario's where it's very simplistic; and yet, can be very entertaining to help pass the time away when waiting for something as noted above. The last thing I'd like to bring up here would be the "software" items you can find around the places you'll traverse during your journey to the end, and these things though they don't add an actual point to your stats like buying an actual upgrade for it would...it does help by increasing how well you're able to accomplish a hack/repair by a small percentage with each level software you may find. (so could have the same luck as a Level 2 hacker but still be at level 1). That's all I really wanted to talk about here, as i just felt it'd only be nice to include a little info on these items which can usually get overlooked by players/reviewers.

Personally there are a lot of other things you could talk about like a couple easter eggs or nods to other games; however, I don't want to strangle you with all that info considering everything else you already had to read just now. Hopefully you can see with just these few examples, how large of a game this will be and that if you're looking for a game worth the money in terms of length...that you're headed in the right direction. Between the relative length of the game and how much it offers you to use in order to stop the madness going on in this story, I would believe that a 8 out of 10 is the score that I'd rate this game for it's intense levels of depth.  *uses speed hypo and rushes for final segment*

              |===Frantic frights, and endless droves of enemies, all leading to many deathly hardships===|

Haaaa...yep, can definitely tell this is an older game when you say the score for this section huh? Yeah this is definitely one of those games you can classify as "old-school difficulty" since it can be RELENTLESS at times when you're playing. To put it into perspective for you, even on "Easy" or "Normal" mode only a few hits from a normal hybrid enemy can kill you and if it's an enemy like a protocol droid or Maintenance bot one explosion or shot by them and you could be finished or very very close to death at that point. If you're going to tell me that's not insane, then tell me can you imagine how difficult the next to level of difficulty would be?! Ironically the highest setting is called "Impossible" and that's no lie because I seriously doubt that if the saving system didn't allow you to save wherever you wanted it would absolutely "feel" impossible to complete the games story. If the enemies being so dangerous wasn't enough for you, don't worry the lovely game designers made it so some areas will be radiated and slowly cause damage over time and unless you have a environmental suit or a bunch of Rad-Hypo's. To which at that point you'll probably fall face first dead on the floor into a pile of worms....getting toxified at the same point. (if you were alive) Still thinking this game is a bunch of lego's and pixie smurfs in terms of a challenge? Alright well, I guess when the creators of this game wanted to make it more fearful than the first...the second mission was also to make it even deadlier. Because like many things unlike the original game where you could fall 10,15, or 30 feet and be fine, a simple slip up from a high up edge or ladder and you'll take minor to major damage and even in some afflicting cases...death!
The one note to this game being nice is that if you do activate a resurrection chamber in one part of a deck then you'll be able to respawn there whenever you're mowed down by an enemy or an accidental drop, it does cost 5 nanites compared to being free now though...but unless you're REALLY spending all of your money I don't think you'll have to worry. The only bad side to this is that similarly to the first game where if you went to a different floor that wasn't activated you'd get a game over, if more than one activation chamber is located in a deck and you haven't turned it on...you WON'T respawn at a previous chamber so best be careful and stay alive. There are certain items which can help you through parts; (such as an ice pick which auto hacks) although, for the most part you're on your own and left to your choices with upgrades and your logic. The strangest thing is that even though the normal enemies are semi-difficult to insanely difficult at times, the last person you have to face off against in the game is really easy in comparison? One last note is that, even though there is a multiplayer mode and nothing changes in terms of enemy placement when having a friend with you...it still becomes difficult in its own way. Especially for the following reasons: "not having as much ammo or health as you would get alone or being able to damage each other with any ranged weapon (besides wrench)" it can be easier in some parts like how in other decks/levels where you'd die without a respawn in single player you can come back in Multiplayer; however, it only drops the difficulty down by a short margin as the initial difficulty can still crush both players even if  they're separated/together doing certain "tasks".

This is without a doubt one of prime examples of when games stated they'd be difficult...that they weren't lying or hiding some trick from you, due to the respawn rates being completely random and uncontrollable. (since there is no cap/respawn limit like with SS1) The fact that even having a second player around doesn't help all "that" much and can even be hazardous, can testify just how hard this game might me to accomplish for some players out there. All I can say is if you pick up this game don't take anything so lightly; otherwise, you might end up on the testing floors like the other crew members aboard this ship. All in all I'd say the difficulty for this game deserves an 8 out of 10. Time to put an end to this *hacks into last terminal while being attacked*

....Finally at the end of this long road, to take down the menace that started this all! That evil A.I staring at us dead in the face, after putting an end to her charades aboard the Von Braun and Tau Ceti V. *A.I talks from screen* H-h-hoow could you do this?? You wretched ba-bag of flesh....you d-dare to challenge an immortal machine l-l like mmeeeee!

                   [++MedSci Bay 2++]

B-b-but maybe it's not tooooo late, we could work together...join me and leave this t-t-toying position as reviewer...and we can ruuullle together human!  *does 90's style close up* ....Nah...  *shoots pistol at screen, echoing in background* ..........Record log User of this, I was just notified by Sonic57 a member of the Von Braun. It seems like things are stable over there once more, we'll turn back and see how things go...I'm a little concerned about Suxy though. She seemed a little different from the last time we talked, once we get things settled out we...Usssseey! Hehe what is it lover < 3 *A.I wires come from Sux2bu's hair*  don't you enjoy my....new appearance! < 3 hahahehe .....

Well...sadly I wasn't able to submit this review for july after all the chaos that had to happen during that month, the review didn't turn out as well as I thought either (cause of all the distress and just trying best to submit it yesterday). Hopefully you all still will enjoy it I'll be making sure I still do the 2 other reviews for this month and I just will be wishing that nothing will stop me from accomplishing that for you all next time.

No worries, Sonic. I really liked the review! It was as deep and informative as I hoped. As always bro, great job. You did well, even if you didn't quite meet the goals you wanted. But this month should be less chaotic. At least I hope so anyway.

Summons time!
