In this thread, I will keep a running list of ALL the activities we will do over the course of this competition.

Here are a couple rules/notes

1. No one is allowed to post in this thread except for me, and any user I task with bumping this thread (because technically, I can't make 20 posts in a row, thanks to Vizzed's stupid sandwiching rule.
2. This thread will only hold activities, and each activity will have specific rules that must be followed.
3. Though not required, I would favorite this thread, as it will tell you when a new activity is to be posted, or is about to be posted. This is your best way of knowing when each competition starts and ends.
4. Results will also be posted in this thread, by the way. Oops, forgot that bit.

-----

As this is the first post, we also have our first challenge. Anyone who took part in 2012 knows that we have to get the boring crap out of the way first.

-----

Day 1 - June 1st - June 7th

Choose a Team Name and Captain

In your team threads, you have already met your new team mates. Now you get to do your first team activity!

You can do these in either order, by the way, but both should be done by the 7th. The team captain is the person who will basically be your leader, who tries to keep order among the rest of the team. It is the Team Captain's job to keep their team in line, following the rules, but also allowing them to all have fun. They will also be in closer contact with me than the rest, for obvious reasons. So choose someone who is online regularly, and is amicable, as well as responsible.

If the Team Captain is away, his/her second (who he/she will choose) will take over until the Team Captain returns.

As for the name... discuss what you want your team name to be (in the thread). At the end, your team captain (if you have one, if you don't we'll use the honor system) will submit a list of NO MORE THAN 3 names. I will ok ones that are appropriate. You will choose from the list of approved names, and that will be your new team name.

Deadline - There's no "real" deadline (outside of the 7th), but try to get the list of names you like out as soon as possible, so you have time to choose which you like best.

Reward - 10 points to best team name. 5 to second best team name. Nothing to the other two teams.

If you need clarification, do not hesitate to contact me!

Alright campers, it's time to update. Soon after this, I plan to also get started on prep work for the VIZZED CAMP DAILY UPDATE BLOG!

Before this update begins, however, I need to address something, because it's only right.

thing1 :

Basically pushed himself out of Cabin 4 (Now Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers). This means he's a free agent. Since he was already assigned once, I cannot assign him a second time. I don't think it would be right.

As such, it's up to YOU to determine what his fate is. He wants a cabin, and I want to avoid drama.

So here's the deal, anyone who takes thing1 gets 10 points for their cabin (but will lose those 10 points if he gets kicked out). The only people eligible to take this offer are the captains themselves.

sonicmcmuffin :
Zlinqx :
mvhupsel :
Gingercream1 :

You four, (even Ginger, despite her cabin kicking him out basically ) need only PM me, saying you wish to have thing1 added to your team's roster. There's no catch whatsoever. If you take him, you get 10 points. This offer will remain open indefinitely. Feel free to discuss it IN PRIVATE with your teammates if you wish. I do not want to see a 3 page argument for why you should or shouldn't take him. Discussions in private, however, I don't need to ever see.

That messy business out of the way...

-----

To recap, our first activity was for each cabin to choose a captain, co-captain, and a team name. The first two were done so I have a right hand man of sorts (as well as a fallback option) on each cabin, who will keep me posted so I don't have to waste all my time sorting through posts to find a team's submission in each activity.

The third was done to give your team identity and to give me something to judge you on, and give you points.

I have to stress here, because I know many of you are new to "camp". Outside of things where you get a score, these competitions are subjective, and "eye of the beholder" type deals. I have a couple people who I ask who have nothing to do with the site to give their own view points, but this judging is 100% on me. If I don't like it, I'm sorry, it's not that I hate you or everything you stand for, it's usually that I loved what someone else did. That extends to names, writing, art, and so on. I like to think I'm as impartial as possible, and thank you all for putting up with my one man judging show.

Also, a reminder that ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

Without further ado, the placements...

4th - "The Irony" - I'm sorry, I genuinely mean it. I had to have this name explained to me several times, and I still just don't get it. You aren't entirely made of iron, I don't see the cabin as being ironic either... I just don't understand. Even if I did, the other three names are the stuff of legends. I have to cut someone in 4th, and it will go to you.

3rd - "Les Vizerables" - It's a witty play on words, and it manages to use the namesake of this site in a witty and classy way. The reference doesn't go by the wayside, but in the end this is the toughest 3rd place decision I think I've ever had to make in the history of Vizzed Camp.

2nd - "Melted Army Enclave" - It's a bit of a cluster, and on its own, it just doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. However, it's an anagram for "A Cleverly Named Team" (or something similar), and I'm a fan of anagrams. Could have been the third placing one, but I think this one is just a step above. They will be rewarded with 5 points.

1st - "Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers" - I think it was clear from the start that this name was going to be #1. It hits all the right notes, and captures everything this activity is after. It fits their team name (they are all a bunch of goofs ), and most of all, it's just fun. I don't think the points matter as much to them in this contest, but they'll be rewarded with 10 points all the same.

-----

With that said, what's Activity 2?

Day 2 - June 8th-June 15th

Dual Competition - Make a Team Flag & Score High In PacMan

Here are the rules...

FLAG MAKING
1. It has to be appropriate.
2. It has to be made by you. I can't check everything, but let's use the honor system here.
3. The size of your flag must be 500x300 (so the flag is wide, not tall, like a flag).
4. It has to follow your team name. IE - If your team is called The Mega Banana Squad, I don't want just a picture of a toilet on your flag. I want to see something that tells me you are the Mega Banana Squad.
5. You ARE allowed to use text, but you may not have JUST text on the flag. You need to put SOME sort of image on it that is visible without using a magnifying glass.
6. Your deadline, again, is June 15th. You can make one AFTER that date, but it will not count for points in this exercise.
7. The Flag Making will be tackled by no more than TWO people. Anyone can pitch ideas, but only two people can actually work on it, you may have only one do the actual work if you wish
8. To tie in with the above, each captain must declare the one or two people who actually did the artistic work on the flag.

Now now, I know what you are asking. What is the reward?

On top of having a kickass flag for the rest of camp...

1st - 25 points
2nd - 20 points
3rd - 15 points
4th - 10 points

That's right, everyone's a winner! Just some win more than others.

PAC-MAN CHALLENGE

1. You must play THIS VERSION of PAC-MAN.
2. You must play in high score mode. The high score mode can be accessed lower on the page.
3. Everyone can participate EXCEPT the people who make the flag for the flag making competition.
4. You are to submit your score to the thread. You can use multiple posts, to update your score. It is the captain's responsibility to go through the thread, and gather each person's highest score to submit.
5. Your score must be visible on the game page, and thus checkable. Your submission link should be the image that appears on the high score table.

Oh, and I'm a dummy, rewards, duh.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
1st - 25 points
2nd - 20 points
3rd - 15 points
4th - 10 points

TEAM AWARDS (highest average score, min. 3 players)
1st - 20 points
2nd - 15 points
3rd - 10 points
4th - 5 points

Anything not covered should be asked ASAP!

A reminder that ONCE BOTH CHALLENGES ARE COMPLETED, AROUND SUNDAY OR MONDAY OF NEXT WEEK, the captain of each team should summon me to the thread with all the submissions.

We have a big update today, so... let's just get to it, shall we...

As with last time... we have a Cabin Change Alert. Last time, it was thing1.

This time... it's three whole users. And they are forming a 5th cabin (Doing the math, moving all three to one other cabin would have hilariously misbalanced it all). I understand some cabins will be smaller than others, but you only need 3 people minimum to do most things in this exercise. I just pray they stay active.

tgags123 :
juuldude :
Barathemos :

A fifth cabin will be set up soon after this post has gone live, and you will be summoned there. Once you are moved in, you will choose a captain and co-captain, a team name, and have the ability to make your own flag. It might be tough to do all those things at once, so this week's activity will be a little lighter, to allow you time to do the things you would have done these first two.

Regarding points those three accrue for their cabins... If they participated in PACMAN, they will take the INDIVIDUAL SCORE with them to their new cabin. The team score will remain with their old one. The flag making (juuldude helped with the creation of their flag) will go to both teams for points purposes, although only their former cabin will obviously have the flag.

This might be confusing, but this is hopefully the last shakeup, unless MORE of you have complaints.

Any questions can be directed to me via PM. This all aside...

-----

This week's challenge was to make a flag, and to get a high score in Pacman. You could only work on one of the two things, and only two people were allowed to participate on the actual making of the flag.

This led to what I think was a successful competition. All cabins were able to get something to me, one way or another, and the results are more even than you'd think...

First, we'll get the high scores out of the way.

PACMAN HIGH SCORE COMPETITION
INDIVIDUAL SCORES

1st - mvhupsel - 53,100 (MAE)
2nd - sonicmcmuffin - 38,720 (LV)
3rd - Zlinqx - 37,790 (TI)
4th - mlb789 - 34,080 (LV)
-----
megamanmaniac - 33,450 (MAE)
Galacta - 27,540 (CC+CK)
GameBoy1023 - 23,080 (CC+CK)
deg2000 - 22,040 (MAE)
pacman1755 - 20,970 (LV)
patar4097 - 20,420 (TI)
JayJaded - 17,480 (MAE)
a user of this - 17,030
yoshirulez! - 16,320 (CC+CK)
Blubcreator - 14,910 (LV)
thing1 - 13,350 (TI)
Gamin'Gal - 11,070 (CC+CK)
Popeye116 - 9,980 (TI)
Furret - 8,540 (TI)

TEAM SCORES (top 3 scorers for each team, averaged out)
1st - Melted Army Enclave (36,196.666 - mvhupsel, megamanmaniac, deg2000)
2nd - Les Vizerables (31,256.666 - sonicmcmuffin, mlb789, pacman1755)
3rd - The Irony (23,853.333 - Zlinqx, patar4097, thing1)
4th - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers (22,313.333 - Galacta, GameBoy1023, yoshirulez!)

If your name is not on the list, it means either you didn't submit a score using the high score table, or your captain didn't alert me to an error.

So for PACMAN, the scores for each team are as follows:

Melted Army Enclave - 45 (mvhupsel 1st, team 1st)
Les Vizerables - 45 (sonicmcmuffin 2nd, mlb789 4th, team 2nd)
The Irony - 25 (Zlinqx 3rd, team 3rd)
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 5 (team 4th)

With the scores out of the way, that means the flags are on the clock...

A reminder that flag scoring is entirely subjective. I base my scoring off the following things: Originality, Spacing, Creativity, and Representation. To score high, you had to showcase decent artistic skills with spacing, show a creative originality, and represent your team in the best possible way.

4th - The Irony

Their flag wasn't bad, by any means, in fact, by last competition standards, it would place much higher than this (only two decent flags were made). However, they get dinged in a few places. While they were allowed to use other materials to make their flag (and most did), they didn't use theirs in a way that captivated me. A three stripe background, an iron bar (which makes sense), and a well known internet meme make up the composition of their flag. It's very basic, and that's not a bad thing. Created by Snowdeath (as well as ZeroTails?).

3rd - Melted Army Enclave

This is another solid flag, but it gets held back by a few minor flaws. While it does a good job of getting the team's message across, graphically, it's not all that special. The use of both Army symbols, as well as the molten background are nice, but there's a lot of spacing issues and leads to the flag looking less incredible than it could have been. It's a hard source material to work with though, given their name. Still better than many of last camp's flags. Created by SadSecrets (and supposedly, mrfe was supposed to be involved, but wasn't).

2nd - Les Vizerables

As it stands, this flag is better than any flag made from the original Vizzed Camp. It has exactly what you need in a flag, it is both simple, and thus easy on the eyes, while also being representative of what the team wants to be. You can take that however you want, symbolism can go many different ways. Their use of text is appropriate, and there was no spacing issue to really be had. It was off center, but that's not bad, because of the nature of the image in the background. It was tough to not give them first, because in most years, this would be deserving. Created by juuldude (and I think tgags123 was supposed to be involved too?).

1st - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

I mean, let's be honest. You knew this was going to be #1 from the moment the flag making competition became live. Ginger showcases her usual art style, and does not disappoint. It can be argued that a flag of the 7 members is cliche, but they were the only cabin to really attempt it (although an early Les Vizerables flag mock had a similar idea executed to a lesser quality). On that vein of creativity/originality, they are also the only team to not use any text on their flag (except for the C on "Captain Gingy's" hat, and the little insignia at the bottom left). While other flags spell it out for you, and make sure you know they are a cabin's flag, this flag doesn't force you to see it, and makes the name an afterthought. They make the priority showing what they really are, and the results, if I can judge objectively, are fantastic. Created by Gingercream1 (and I believe Makalya was slated to help, early on).

So, with that said, points from the flag making exercise...

1st - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 25
2nd - Les Vizerables - 20
3rd - Melted Army Enclave - 15
4th - The Irony - 10

-----

Next, we will list the total points accrued by each cabin (including the new 5th one).

Les Vizerables - 65
Melted Army Enclave - 60
The Irony - 35
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 30
5th Cabin (yet to be named) - 20 (for the flag competition)

Not a good showing for Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers, and a great showing for both Les Vizerables and the Melted Army Enclave.

I'll update the total standings in the Vizzed Camp Blog later today (or tomorrow). This aside, it's time for the next competition to begin.

Day 3 - June 16th-June 23rd
Screenshot Hunter - Make me laugh!

Your goal for this next competition is to find a hilarious screenshot in ANY GAME/HACK/ETC in the RGR. It can be a pokemon hack, it can be Legend of Zelda: OOT, it can be something from Action 52. The point is that you can choose any game on site, screenshot it using the RGR plugin, submit it to the page, and then the thread.

And because I'm in a good mood, you'll have a good chance to reap beaucoup points... the rules (which aren't really rules)

1. Everyone can participate.
2. Everyone should participate.
3. Anything, any game, anywhat, goes. So long as it is in the RGR.
4. It has to be funny. Duh.
5. Everyone can have up to THREE SUBMISSIONS.
6. In case I'm not being clear, this is an INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION. Every person can submit three. If you have five members, you can submit 15 screenshots.
7. You cannot share screenshots (hence the requirement to submit them to the site, so I can see who took the screenshot).
8. Each team will get 5 bonus points for each submission. You have literally no reason not to have everyone making submissions. If you have 5 members, and all 5 submit 3 screenshots, you will get 75 bonus points.
9. If I'm not making it clear, everyone should play.
10. Read rule #1, then #2, also, rule #9.
11. You can't use the same screenshot someone else uses. If you do, the first person to post it (on the game page) will get credit.

So what's on the line in this challenge?

Outside of pride and laughter, a lot of points. Individual screenshots will place. It's possible to have the top 10 be screenshots from one cabin. No freebies here (outside of the bonus points).

1st - 30 points
2nd-4th - 20 points
5th-10th - 10 points
11th-15th - 5 points

Yes, up to 15 screenshots will place from the 5 cabins. You have plenty of opportunities to score.

Because of the nature of this challenge... it will get confusing in the threads. Do not use the thread to post anything BUT SCREENSHOTS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE (exception for Cabin 5, which can use their thread to discuss captain, team name, and flag). I will not ding you or penalize you points if you do talk in the thread, but it would be best for your CAPTAIN if you made their job easier, since they need to compile all the screenshots.

Captains - I need to make this clear. When you write up your submission post to tell me your entries are official, PLEASE label who submitted the screenshot so I can give them individual credit! It is absolutely vital, and saves me time.

That's all she wrote! Get to it!

Here we go, with our fourth update of the competition... I wonder how things will go...

Again, with cabin alerts... ugh, so much drama, hopefully, this is the end of it.

That fifth cabin? Well now it no longer exists, and they've merged with The Melted Army Enclave, following various people going inactive for various reasons.

This has been a hell of a chaotic camp, and if for whatever reason I do this again, I might just let people go wherever the f*** they want, consequences be damned. It doesn't matter how well you plan things, or expect people to act. No matter what, the best plans never survive first contact with the enemy. In this situation, the enemy is drama.

That all aside, there was a competition.

-----

This week, the campers goal was to find funny screenshots. And funny screenshots were had, I think. I didn't find a hell of a lot funny, so maybe my sense of humor is just way off. In any case, first, I'll list each team's submissions for my benefit, further down, I'll rank EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM (ok, only the top 15). If I didn't find something funny, or didn't get the joke and need it to be explained to me, for it to be funny, then odds are it wasn't that funny.

A reminder that the best laughter can be had from things that don't involve lots of exposition. I've played many games in my time, and every time, I've always found wit to be hilarious, but when explaining the jokes to friends, they've often given me looks of confusion, rather than fits of laughter.

The same applies here. Whatever you may find witty or funny, may just be a "huh?" moment from me. This isn't to say your joke isn't funny. It is to say that your joke requires lead in for it to be effective. Had I allowed you to show the lead-in, several of you may have done better. Maybe I'll do that next time...

OK, let's list each team, and their screenshots.

"Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers" Submissions - 13 (x5 bonus points - 65 bonus points)

TOTAL SUBMISSIONS FROM THE FOUR CABINS - 50.

As there are 50 screenshots submitted, this means that 30% of all screenshots will get points. The other 70% will not.

So, here are the results... with a couple comments

1st Tier (30 points) - 1st place
1st - Gamin'Gal - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

I ended up going with this one. Before I go forward, I have to note something important... contrary to popular belief, I do not grade these by myself. From the very beginning of this competition (including the naming competition), I've been talking to a few impartial people who have nothing to do with this site, but know about gaming culture. I've shown them the results, which is why it takes half a day after the deadline for me to update.

This screenshot consistently got high marks from all the judges (every single one), and to be fair, it's understandable why. It combines the dryness of a joke with the dryness of a desert. It was much appreciated in a contest where the majority of submissions were just bad grammar.

2nd Tier (20 points) - 2nd-4th place
2nd - Furret - The Irony

I hate to show my Paper Mario fandom so hard with a second straight entry, but I think we can all agree that Paper Mario is one of the funniest, most charming games that have been made in the past 20 or so years (or at least agree that all the judges loved Paper Mario). And yet again, we are graced by the superior intellect of Goombario, who needlessly points out a building Mario is standing right next to.

You tell me, Goombario, what other building should I be seeing?

3rd - tgags123 - Melted Army Enclave

This one was just a guilty pleasure. The judges got a quick chuckle out of this one too. Bread does have a habit of loafing around. Maybe the next pokemon game will have a bread pokemon, like we have an ice cream, key, and trash pokemon.

Actually, let's hope not.

4th - sonicmcmuffin - Les Vizerables

This is the highest placing one to need the caption (which wasn't against the rules!) to get the joke across. sonicmcmuffin's joke was this: "Because this is what happened to nearly every sonic game after Sonic 2".

While personally, I don't agree (outside of Sonic '06, and Sonic Boom), I get the intent of the joke. And so did the judges. With this score, every team has a placer in the top 4. That's highly amusing to me.

3rd Tier (10 points) - 5th-10th place
5th - supernerd117 - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

Luigi will always be player 2. But for a brief moment, he could pretend he was the Green Mario, which is more than he can ever hope to aspire for in any life.

6th - Gamin'Gal - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

If GG ever gets fired from her mod gig, maybe she can take up a job as a standup comedian, because she's on a roll in this competition. A sinus joke? Geddit? Because he's a nose, and he's being tasked with... ah never mind.

The point is, this is hilarious.

7th - Popeye116 - The Irony

This, admittedly, is one I liked that the judges didn't. I don't like it more than the things above this entry, but I definitely like it more than the ones below this entry.

Bubble is such a fierce attack bro. Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.

8th - Snowdeath - The Irony

Generally, I like things that are matter of fact. And there are few facts universally accepted in this world so true as "people use doors to go in and out of their houses". It's chuckle worthy.

9th - Furret - The Irony

A picture is worth a thousand words. Or exactly zero. You don't really need words to convey what is happening in this picture, and yet it speaks volumes for the kind of game Paper Mario is. A third PM entry on this list, I am not ashamed to admit that I'm happy we got a rich turnout of the better moments in the game.

10th - Zlinqx - The Irony

I don't really get what's happening here, and I really don't want to.

4th Tier (5 points) - 11th-15th place
11th - Gingercream1 - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

Well, I think this one speaks for itself. Pokemon Obscure was very popular for this competition. It's a zany game, worth giving a look to. You play as a nose, and that's really the whole story.

12th - Furret - The Irony

Another placing, another Paper Mario joke. This lovable hermit had one of the most endearing side quests in a game. Some of his gifts were practical. Some... not so much. Don't go spending it all in one place!

13th - pacman1755 - Les Vizerables

Sonic has really let himself go.

14th - Blubcreator - Les Vizerables

When a boy and a rock... well, let's just say that rock wasn't the hardest thing in the room. Zing.

15th - Gamin'Gal - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers

We close this list out with another GG joke, though this one doesn't hit nearly as hard as the others. Diet jokes are rarely funny. But in this case, it is just a step above grammatical errors and simply stupid shots that have no real joke to them.

-----

Anything that placed below 15th... got nothing for you besides your bonus points. I could sit here and make comments about all 50 screenshots, but that wouldn't be much fun.

Again, this contest was judged by multiple people, not everyone SAW every screenshot. It would simply have taken too much time. The process was a little complex, but I basically screened all 50 to another person, we determined what the top 25 were, and then shared those top 25 with other people, to determine the final ranking. With the exception of one or two screenshots, the order you see above is EXACTLY how the aggregate scoring turned out (best screenshots got 10 points, 10th best got 1, and then I added up the points).

Below, I'll put down how many points each team earned from this activity. If there is an error above (did I list you on the wrong team on accident? Did I give credit to the wrong person?) please send it to my PM Box and I will edit before making the blog update tomorrow or Friday.

-----

The Irony - 175 points - 110 bonus points + 20 points (2nd) + 10 (7th) + 10 (8th) + 10 (9th) + 10 (10th) + 5 (12th)

Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 125 points - 65 bonus points + 30 points (1st) + 10 (5th) + 10 (6th) + 5 (11th) + 5 (15th)

Les Vizerables - 85 - 60 bonus points + -5 points for violations + 20 points (4th) + 5 (13th) + 5 (14th)

Melted Army Enclave - 35 points - 15 bonus points + 20 points (3rd)

-----

I wonder if it is any coincidence that the team that scored the most also participated the most... nope, that's exactly what the point of Vizzed Camp has always been. Points tend to go the way of the team that tries the hardest. We had two polar opposites, a team that had a ridiculous amount of submissions (nearly half of all those submitted for the competition) and a team that only submitted three of them.

It's no wonder that the team with half the submissions scored 175 points, while the team that only submitted three got 35.

Another ongoing storyline here... Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers continue to fall behind despite having finished #1 in something, yet again. The difference between the two teams was 50 points. Would have been more if not for Gamin'Gal (who emerges as this competitions MVP for scoring 45 points by herself).

This likely moves The Irony back into first place (though I don't have the scores tabulated yet nor do I want to until I know I haven't messed up). Hopefully everyone takes note of the effort and steps it up next week... because...

Day 4 - June 24th-July 1st
Story Time! Write Something Entertaining!

This week we're going to keep up the low key activities. This is something everyone should be able to do, you have absolutely zero excuses for not being able to do this if you are on site in the next week.

All you have to do is write something entirely original and make it good!

There are no real regulations here. A few basic rules, sure, but largely, this is your chance to show off your creative flair.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. It must be by you (duh)
2. It must be original (duh)
3. It must be made from scratch, starting from the moment this post goes live, you cannot use older works.
4. You must post your finalized piece in your cabin's thread, where your captain will LINK TO THE POST CONTAINING THE PIECE.
5. I have to reiterate the above, I do not want the captains posting the entire stories in a submission post this time around, I just want the name of the user, and a link to the post. If you need help figuring out how to link to a post, ask me!
6. There is no real theme, write about whatever you want.
7. There is no length requirement. It can be 10 words, it can be 10,000 words. Write whatever you want for as long as you want.
8. You will be graded on numerous things. Grammar, originality, and more.
9. This competition will be judged by 5 people, myself, and four people I know who are writers (off-site, so as to prevent bias).
10. IT MUST BE FAMILY FRIENDLY. Some people seem to forget this, but this competition is very much PG-11. Some of the jokes last competition were a tad inappropriate. Let's not have inappropriate stories.

Simple, dah? Best of luck to all of you.

Rewards!

1st - 50 points
2nd - 40 points
3rd - 35 points
4th - 25 points
5th - 20 points
6th - 15 points
7th-10th - 10 points

Anyone who writes a story will be given 5 bonus points, period.

As you can probably guess from above... this is again an individual competition. Everyone can and should participate, although this time, not as many people can score.
Here we go, with our fourth update of the competition... I wonder how things will go...

Again, with cabin alerts... ugh, so much drama, hopefully, this is the end of it.

Alright, competition judge time go!

My arm hurts like hell today, so let's try to make this a simple update, quick and painless, alright? Sorry this post probably won't be up to the standards of quality you are all used to, but I cannot stress how much pain I'm in, but the show must go on.

For once, it appears there was no drama, so we have nothing to report! Excellent!

-----

This week, the goal was to write a story. Once the stories were submitted, a team of three (myself, and two off-site judges) were to judge each submission. There were supposed to be two others, but they both backed out.

Here is how the scoring worked... with each submission, we gave a score from 1-10, based on writing skill, creativity, and your ability to hook the reader. All three judges have different taste! If you don't score highly, it's not because you sucked, it's because we just weren't captivated. Some of us like mystery, some of us don't. Some of us love comedy, others find it the lowest form of entertainment. Different strokes, for different folks. However, all three of the judges took a long amount of time to read each submission, and so, have knowledge as to your writing quality, which will hopefully overshadow everything else.

It was a daunting task for the other two judges, and though they will never see it on this site, I want to thank them for their dedication to helping this competition remain unbiased and balanced.

Below, I'll post a link to each story, along with the score (out of 30) that the submission scored. Below that, I'll write a few quick notes if applicable, about how the judges felt, and why the score may be higher or lower than what you expected.

Note - I know I said the scoring would work one way... but the judges were short on time, and asked to do it that way, and I agreed. This is my bad, for giving you guys bad information!

THE IRONY
Snowdeath - 20

The judges, including myself, were confused with how to judge this one, because it seemingly violated one of the key rules.

"3. It must be made from scratch, starting from the moment this post goes live, you cannot use older works."

A quick search on the net for plagiarism turned up a poetry blog by Snuchu (which Snow sometimes goes by). This in itself isn't odd, but when you click on the blog itself, the piece is gone from the page, implying it was deleted, possibly for the sake of the competition. However, the Detector never fails, which leads me to believe it was definitely on the blog before the 24th of June, when the competition began.

Against my better judgement, I'm going to hold off on DQ'ing this until I get an answer (I've been away for a couple days, so I couldn't inquire right away). When it comes to the actual scoring though, this piece gets middle of the pack grades, with two 7s, and a 6 from the judges. The main reason this didn't score higher, according to one judge, was the "bland, one tone pacing of the piece" which led to the "author not hitting the mark". The work was "too matter of fact, and didn't really change any perceptions" or "break necessary ground".

Points were added for the author's use of a touchy subject matter, and a "tactful discussion of illness". This piece had a lot of discussion focused around it, so at the very least, it was controversial.

thing1 - 17

The scoring on this, was two 6s and a 5.

For the most part, the judges were uninterested, and the "pacing, while accurate, potentially, just wasn't right for a story". The author goes "from one tangent to the next, seemingly for the sake of it", and doesn't really "showcase the true importance, or gravity of the situation."

"For a self-described nightmare, the author doesn't seem too particularly bothered" and "his concern for the situation is really put best when he steps on his cat's tail... he's having an adrenaline rush, but little else".

The judges were also confused as to why "the author didn't go further with the story, because there was potential. He just stopped short, and the piece falls flat as a result."

"There's something to be said for cliff-hangers, but usually, they make you want more, not less, of the subject matter. One instance where going a few sentences longer may have actually helped make a cliff-hanger viable."

Overall, the judges just felt as if the piece was middle of the pack.

a user of this - 14

The scoring on this was a 6 and two 4s.

The main reason this piece scored low, was "a shocking lack of grammar and syntax issues galore", and "a discombobulating and outright immersion breaking plot."

Most judges just flat out didn't understand what was going on for several read throughs, and because they had more pieces to judge, just didn't care enough to keep going through a piece they couldn't begin to grasp to begin with.

"I cannot really understand the method to the madness, it is both set up as a diary and a third person drama at times. The narrative is shaky, and we're never really given clues as to who these people are, or why we should care."

The highest praise this piece received, was that "this should be reworked as a comedy, with less darkness, and more 'Home Alone" style antics, because this could be a hilarious take on how stupid people are in the criminal underworld". Outside of that, praise was not to be had.

ZeroTails - 15

The scoring on this was 5s across the board.

"Harry Potter meets Scary Movie meets Final Fantasy meets a lazy, unlikable protagonist. Who knew such a combination would end up being too much, and horrible."

"A large segment of the story was seemingly cut out for time purposes, which... was just a bad idea. I would have gladly read ten minutes more just so that I could get an idea as to the tone of the piece. Is this a comedy? An epic? Both? I can never tell how seriously the author wants me to take the piece, when the piece doesn't establish a tone before the end."

One praise had was "she tried working something that might be a 400 page novel into a 400 word piece. That's interesting, even if it missed, considerably." (Actually, the piece was close to 800, but the point was received).

The judges felt of all the submissions, this was one of the ones that felt most incomplete, despite a finality in the ending.

Popeye116 - 7

The scoring on this was two 2s and a 3.

"Generally speaking, you have to care to write something half decent. I think even if you didn't care, you could write something that wasn't so... crappy."

"The author seemed to be writing about an imaginary friend, one who he doesn't know the day to day activities of. It sounds like he literally followed his imaginary friend around a city to see what he did all day. All that's missing is the first person perspective of a man wearing a horrible glasses/fake mustache disguise to sell this as the worst comedy of all time."

"The author straight up tells us how they are doing this for bonus points. I'm not sure what these points are for, but whatever they are, he definitely shouldn't get any. This was about as uncaring an effort as humanly possible, and I feel like I wasted my time reading this drivel."

The one praise that was had, came from the predictable source... "I appreciate someone trying to tell a story about my activities, but not only is it completely unfunny, it is blatantly inaccurate, and if this piece was published anywhere, I would feel inclined to sue, for defamation of character."

It's pretty obvious how the judges felt. Not pleased. Please don't waste the judge's time. (This piece will not receive bonus points, for how blatantly uncaring the author was. You have to try, and this author put in less than the bare minimum of effort. I said you could write something in 5 or 5,000 words. But if all the 5,000 words are is "I'm bored, feed me, blah blah blah, word barf, I'm tired, I fell aslep", and doesn't resemble art in the slightest, you just aren't going to get away with "putting some crap together to get bonus points).

Don't really care if anyone throws a fit over it either, all three judges agreed this is unworthy of bonus points.

Zlinqx - 23

The scoring for this was 9, 8, 6.

"This is probably one of the best pieces we've read over the course of these days, it is interesting, catches the eye, and doesn't overstay its welcome. It tells a story from start to finish, and most importantly, it doesn't ever go off on stupid tangents like most of the other pieces. It is genuinely interesting, and the writer seems to have put in the effort many others didn't. Gold star."

"I don't find the subject matter so interesting, personally, but I do give point for this being well written. I don't see much fault with the writing style, and the writer never goes somewhere strange with his writing. He knows this subject matter, which leads me to think he has personal experience with this matter, and that's great. Some of the best writing comes from personal experience."

"I found the piece to be marvelous, and I wonder whether or not the writer has experience in this field, of both self-loathing, and deep contemplation of seemingly simple events? And the twist at the end, while not Shyamalan-like, was definitely not expected, and sent us into an abrupt, but fitting ending for this character. A good character arc, fleshed out by smart story telling, and with the right amount of flash. Could go higher, but I'll be conservative with my score for now."

The judges found this to be a nice refresher from some earlier pieces (I showed them in random order, but many submissions felt lazy), and this is a contender for the best pieces.

THE IRONY - 6 TOTAL SUBMISSIONS, 5 COUNT FOR BONUS POINTS - 25 BONUS POINTS

MELTED ARMY ENCLAVE
Barathemos - 21

A note before I talk about the scoring, and share judges perspectives... I had to explain a few small things prior to the piece, to explain what "mrfe", "Phemcee", and such, were. It was of my opinion that while the author could have fleshed these out, it wouldn't have made the story more interesting. It was a judgement call, so bear that in mind, when you see their perspectives.

The scoring on this piece was 7s across the board.

"The piece wasn't uninteresting, nor was it interesting. The writing skill wasn't bad, nor was the writing skill good. The idea wasn't bad, nor was it good. In general, I just think this was an average piece. That's not bad. Nor is it good."

"I still don't have much idea of what a 'mrfe' or 'Phemcee' is, but I don't think I need to know what they are specifically. Knowing that 'mrfe' is a weird name for a person, and that 'Phemcee' is a weird name for a place is enough. I get the references to Minecraft at least, so I mean, that's cool. The piece, overall was clever, and it told a story. It just wasn't very entertaining, which hurts the score a tad."

"I found this story to be worth reading, but it wasn't the best or worst thing I'd ever read. I just don't have much to say about it. It was about as average as it gets."

"Fortunately for the writer, I have knowledge about all the things involved, and I thought it was a nice take on Vizzed lore, which yes, both are intrinsically a part of Vizzed lore. Not the best thing I've read, but it doesn't have to be."

tgags123 - 25

The scoring for this piece was a 9 and two 8s.

"This is an example of what I was looking to read!"

"The writer clearly knows what he wants to write about, and sticks to it, never do they go off topic, and they don't try to make a dark situation comedic for the sake of pandering to everyone."

"It was a risky play, but by sticking to the subject they wanted to stick to, they hit the mark fabulously."

One criticism most had was "that the pacing seemed a little too quick".

"Maybe it was just that the writer had a deadline as he said, and maybe it was that this was the piece he wanted to write, but the pacing was a little too fast. Not to a bad effect or anything, but I had hope it would have been a little slower developing. It seemed everything just happened over night, which doesn't make for the best drama, in what is a dramatic story."

"I would have liked to seen this basic idea spread over about 300 pages, in a 'Flowers to Algernon' style, where the subject slowly turns into a barbarian, and struggles with their humanity. It does raise the question of what humanity really is, and that's great, the writer should do something with that."

"I only wish the writer had taken more time to flesh out details. I get that may not have been the plan from the beginning, to leave the audience guessing, but it's very hard to know what exactly the author wants to convey to us when they leave details out. Overall, an above average piece, but could have been more."

MELTED ARMY ENCLAVE - 2 TOTAL SUBMISSIONS - 10 BONUS POINTS

LES VIZERABLES
mlb789 - 21

The scoring for this piece was an 8, a 7, and a 6.

"The author wanted to convey something, but it was rather lost on me. Was this a set up for something? Am I supposed to be attached and feel bad for him? What is the moral? Where is the plot? It seems disjointed, and sudden, and while that may have been the point, it didn't make for an enjoyable read. The writing skill was decent, which showcases he could have done far more."

"I am rather interested to see where this plot goes. It might go like every other survival/horror book/movie in the past 20 years has gone, but there's something to be said for perfecting something that's been done, rather than trying something new. When did the subject realize his pets weren't ok? Was it a gut feeling? Was it a sudden and jarring discovery? What will this do to the subject? I want to see more, and damn the author for not showing us more insight into this world."

"It lacked preamble. It lacked a satisfying conclusion. It just started and stopped abruptly. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, I did, but it felt as if the author had better things to do than entertain his audience, and only showed the meat of the story, not letting us dissect the fat on our own. To make it a metaphor, it's like when your parents cut your steak as a little kid. They didn't seemingly trust you to do it yourself, and that's what the author did to us here. A little disrespectful to us, but I gather that wasn't their intent."

"I wish it had gone on longer" was a common occurrence, when discussing this piece. It sucked to have it cut short, but there you have it.

sonicmcmuffin - 16

The scoring for this pieces was a 7, a 5, and a 4.

"While the writer shows good use of writing ability, they struggle to make the reader care that they can write. It's little more than a scribble to what I imagine, are casual readers. The framing device of a diary isn't unique, but it isn't unwelcome. But the main character seems to be a douchey a**h***, and not the redeeming kind worth following in a story."

"Mark this one down as one I'm glad didn't go any longer. I was actually sick. Not of the piece, that wasn't horrible, but for the visible (whether passive or aggressive) disdain of the writer for anyone and everyone. It's ok for a writer to be cynical, nay, some of my favorite books are by cynical authors! But when your piece is all cynicism, and you try amping it up to 11... you better have a damn good plot, and this did not."

"I vaguely feel like I've heard this story before, but with the genders reversed. Probably just my imagination. In any case, I don't know what I feel about the piece. It wasn't bad or anything, on the contrary, the writing skill was pretty good! But that writing ability is held back by a desire to either be an a**h*** or write something cynical that betrays their true feelings about what it is they are writing. I'm going to mark this as average, but I'm not sure if it really is. Maybe this would have been better long form, with more opportunity given to flesh out a character, who upon first impression, seems like a waste of oxygen."

As seen above, the overwhelming thought is that the writer, or the character (either or) was too cynical, and didn't balance it out, by actually writing story. "Cynicism isn't bad, but in high dosages, anything can be terrible" is the general theme most of the longer reviews had.

Blubcreator - 18

This submission scored 6s across the board.

"I wasn't terribly sure about what happened, even though I read the ending three times. Is the lawyer not there? An imaginary friend? Is our friend insane, just not in the way people claim he is? I'm going to assume that Mitch is indeed insane, and that the lawyer wasn't there at all. I'm not sure as to whether he did it, or whether his lawyer was just a projection of his subconscious. Either way, it's hard to judge something when it doesn't lend itself to judging."

"I was intrigued, but I felt like there was too much left on the table. It's more vague than other submissions, which is appreciated, but they could have spelled things out a little better. The narrative was a little janky, and it wasn't entirely clear where the story was heading at any one point. It seemed to jump leaps and bounds and suddenly, it was over."

"There's something to be said for using confusion to aid a story. It's another to outright make that the entire point of your narrative. There's no common ground, no voice of reason for the readers to connect with. We're forced into living on the line of a possibly insane man, and frankly, it scares me, because we're not given a life preserver with which to affix ourselves to. When the water gets rough, the lifeline is needed to keep the viewers above water. And it feels like most of the piece, we spend underwater."

pacman1755 - 17

This submission scored two 5s and a 7.

"What should be a haunting tale of being trapped in a vault ends up being a snoozefest, as the writer fails to convey what the subject feels adequately. It's a good idea, but the execution is sloppy, and it leaves my head hanging by a thread, suffering in perpetual misery, as I wait for someone to end it all."

"I liked this, but I also like the less is more approach. The lack of proper storytelling at the beginning leaves the ending hilariously unbalanced. There could be something here, over a longer format. But this piece is hampered awfully by how short the piece actually is. I like the diary format, but I don't know if I can say this is more than average quality."

"It's too short for my liking, the writing is disjointed, there doesn't seem to be a great gravity to his dire situation, and the writer seemingly tacked on nothing to make up for the lack of polish. Meh."

LES VIERZBLES - 4 TOTAL SUBMISSIONS - 20 BONUS POINTS

CAPTAIN CRUNCH AND THE CEREAL KILLERS
Gingercream1 - 23

The scoring for this piece was a 9, an 8, and a 6.

"This one skirted the lines a bit, being based off a game I hosted... but I'm choosing to allow it, as it only takes parts of what I wrote, and added a first person view of the scenario, which I will allow. I thought it was pretty well written, although there were issues... namely with the spacing of quotes. When people are talking, they get their own line to talk. The way it was written, it seemed everyone was one person. It was impossible to tell who was talking, and the saving grace of the story was the telling of the story, with the details and ending being the brightest points. If this was redone, and shown to an editor, I think the final grade for everyone would be extremely high."

"I'm going to give benefit of the doubt. I don't know a ton about this 'Kanashi Shima' place, but it sounds like it would be a hell of a place to learn more about. Later it is called 'Sad Island', and I'd like to hear these stories, I want to know more, this is lore-telling, but the author doesn't tell us any lore of the world around them, only of their own first person perspective. There's a seeming lack of wonder surrounding an author who told us all these wondrous things that built the lore... and then just stopped abruptly for jarring conversation that made no sense. There's something here. There really is, but this is also incomplete, and needs to be done better."

"I didn't find the story terribly interesting, but even if I didn't, I can appreciate what they were trying to do. Unfortunately, this is betrayed by their lack of polish in the details, and with their lack of spacing for conversations. When you speak, or when others speak, you need to separate the lines. The way it appears, it looks as if one character is doing all the talking, and I KNOW there is more than one character talking. It leads to disjointed immersion-breaking story telling, and I can't give it a high grade. Or even an average one."

The biggest complaint as you can plainly see is the issue with conversation among the characters in the story. Had she fixed this, this would probably be the top submission in the contest, or at least close to threatening for it.

This submission got a 10, an 8, and a 7.

"This is hands-down the best piece I've read in the past couple days. It's short and sweet, tells a good, believable arc, and the religious tone doesn't bother me, although I'm also strongly religious, so I may just be biased. In any case, Jesus and God will always get perfect 10s from me. And so does this guy who spoke of they."

"I found the religious nature, to be frank, offensive. I know he prefaced a warning and all that, but this was not my scene at all. It was well written, sure, so I can give it at least average marks, but this doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Maybe I'm just being unfair, but whatever. It's been a long two days, and now you have me writing up my reviews of each to put up on a blog or whatever. Bite me."

"I feel as if the writer has a deep religious connection, and it's important that they write about what they found to be important. I don't identify as religious (in fact, I'm rather agnostic, and lean towards the atheist side of the spectrum), but I do identify as someone who believes people should believe what they believe in. He clearly feels strongly for the subject matter, and it shows, as he shows a good level of writing, and his poetry is creative.

Galacta - 21

This submission got a 9, a 7, and a 5.

"What the f*** did I just read?"

"Well... this was something. He gets points for being creative."

"This was one of the few submissions that honest to god, made me laugh. It was creative, funny, and in general... different. I don't know how to write a long enough entry to justify the score I gave it, but s***."

"No, seriously, what the f*** did I just read?"

yoshirulez! - 20

This submission scored an 8, and two 6s.

"This seemed like fan-fiction of something, but I'm not entirely sure what. It was creative, which fit the criteria, but I was never too interested in what was going on. I don't know who Felix is, and I don't particularly care either. The most intriguing bit was probably the ending where it leaves us wondering why, but even then, it doesn't set us up to care that it happened."

"I feel as if I've lost both a friend, and a member of my family. But at the same time, I find myself as cold and unfeeling as Felix is portrayed. Whether that's a good job by the writer, or a bad job of characterization, it is irrelevant. I never felt captured by the piece. Just not my style I guess. Decent writing, but not enough to make up for the lack of an interesting story."

"I like this, but at the same time, I feel as if there are too any unanswered questions for something so final. Maybe that was the intent, but I find myself wondering if it's even worth wondering what the answers to those questions are. It was compelling, to me, but I think I may end up in the minority. The story itself was well written. The plot was a tad out of whack, and seemingly on another wavelength, but I think it got its message across."

GameBoy1023 - 15

This submission scored 5s across the board.

"The submission didn't showcase many writing skills, plot development, character development, or anything that makes a good story... good. I can't in good conscience give this a high score, because I'm never told any crucial information."

"Meh, this was a pretty substandard writing prompt, even for this competition that was arranged out of the blue."

"I don't have anything to really say. I found it kind of boring and flat. This was one of the first I read, and it didn't set my expectations very high for the rest of the prompts."

For all ties (like the one we had for first place!) were decided by discussing with the judges to determine which of the two (or more) pieces we liked best, and then slotting the second/third best in below it. For example, tgags123 and supernerd117 both had the highest score (of 25/30!), but we went with tgags123, who had a 9 and two 8s, over supernerd117, who had a 10, 8, and 7. One judge voted that supernerd117 had the best of the two, whereas the other two decided tgags123 had the best submission of the two.

So we need a new competition... so it's time for the annual "Crazy Challenge Suggestion Challenge!"

Day 5 - July 5th-July 10th
Crazy Challenges - Keep it Interesting!

I've been busy as hell this week, and I plan on being busy until around Friday, so I need to give you something simple to do, but something fun... so here's an idea... how about you suggest the craziest challenges you can, that can ACTUALLY BE DONE BY EVERYONE IN THIS COMPETITION.

IE - No "build something on the Minecraft Server" shenanigans. No "video tape yourself doing a backflip off your roof" competition... something that can be done safely, and easily enough by everyone on the site... while being crazy enough to actually be fun.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. Whatever you choose MUST FOLLOW VIZZED RULES. No "shock porn" watching challenges.
2. Whatever you choose has to be doable for free, with no money involved.
3. Whatever you choose MUST HAVE A WINNER whether by judging through me, or via a score, or some other way of determining who did the best at the competition.
4. It must be doable by everyone on the site. There's no guarantee everyone can tape a video, so you cannot do a "Hot Dog Eating Contest Challenge".
5. It must be safe. I am not going to be held liable for jumping off your roof like a moron.
6. It must be fair, IE "No 'be the most like Snowdeath as you possibly can' Challenges". Anything rigged to one user in particular would be bad for everyone.
7. All your challenge ideas MUST GO IN YOUR TEAM THREAD. Your captain will summon me BEFORE MIDNIGHT EST on the 10th of July. Midnight EST, not server time. If you need to figure it out, do so.
8. There might be more questions. Ask them in the thread, and summon me to it.
9. ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER INDIVIDUAL. RANKINGS WILL BE INDIVIDUAL.

Simple, dah? Best of luck to all of you.

Rewards!

1st - 50 points
2nd - 30 points
3rd - 20 points
4th-10th - 10 points

No bonus points this time around, but if your challenge is a good idea... it might be used! So choose things you actually want to do!

Had she fixed this, this would probably be the top submission in the contest, or at least close to threatening for it.

supernerd117 - 25

CAPTAIN CRUNCH AND THE CEREAL KILLERS - 5 TOTAL SUBMISSIONS - 25 BONUS POINTS

-----

As the competition drags on, I find myself pre-occupied, more often than not. I need to find the remedy for this lethargic behavior.

In any case, we have an update to do! And boy, is it an update or what?

-----

This week, the goal was to create your own challenge. The promise of points, and the possibility of using the challenge in the future (oh ho ho) led to some intriguing ideas, though ultimately, it was pretty clear from the beginning what we were going with.

I'm sad that at this stage, the rules aren't being followed.

7. All your challenge ideas MUST GO IN YOUR TEAM THREAD. Your captain will summon me BEFORE MIDNIGHT EST on the 10th of July. Midnight EST, not server time. If you need to figure it out, do so.

The first half, people did, but many captains failed to do as such, which led to me giving an extension, and then a second unofficial extension. Any captain that did not summon me at some point will have lost a few points for their Cabin. Them's the breaks.

Below, I'll post a link to the post where the competition was suggested, and give each competition idea a brief blurb about what I like and/or don't like about it. Then below that, I'll choose the top 10 selections, in order.

Without further ado, let's see the challenges.

-----

THE IRONY - This cabin failed to summon me. -5 points.

thing1 - Catch Pokemon

I'm going to give thing1 the benefit of the doubt once it comes to scoring. I didn't say each competition had to have a rule set you created. Many chose to do this, and while it's detailed, I'll honestly be doing the rule set myself, so generally, the extra work the rest of you did was all for naught.

With regards to his actual idea, I like it, and might do it, even if it doesn't win. The idea of a competition where you get a point for catching Pikachu, and 5 for catching Dunsparce is an interesting idea. If I do this, however, it would be longer than a week long competition, simply because of the scale I would be using. I'd also have to research various games in the RGR to determine which ones you can't catch them all too easily.

Regardless of the effort it would take on my part, I do like this idea, as it would be truly unique in this competition.

ZeroTails - Useless Website Hunting!

This is another unique idea that theoretically anyone can do. There are a few issues with it, so let's dive straight into that...

The poster says the sites have to be family friendly, and that's not an issue... what is an issue though, is whether you count "viruses" as family friendly.

There are a lot of useless websites on the internet, and many of them are riddled with viruses that could ruin someone else's computer. While I personally wouldn't have an issue (Symantec for the in!), I think most people who visit IT to check on what happens here down the line would be pretty unhappy to have viruses.

Beyond that, it is too subjective, as to what would win. I don't have a problem being subjective, but it's harder to choose a winner for those types of competitions. While this one had good intentions, there is just too much concern in how it would be properly executed for me to say we'd ever do this.

A user of this - Let's Play Mario Paint!

While this idea isn't terribly original (I've seen it done to death), it's a classic competition that makes a lot of sense, and is within our abilities to do. It'd be subjective, which is the main flaw, but unlike with the above, there's less worry about how to handle the actual competition. If I tell you to draw, you draw.

If I do this competition during Vizzed Camp, I will definitely (ok, maybe) making it themed, so as to test your ability to adapt, rather than giving you free license to draw whatever you want... actually, I have a good idea... hehehe

Furret - Don't Laugh!

I think this one is a good idea, although it would be rather tough to "win" this competition. I find a lot of things funny, but people on Vizzed tend not to get my sense of humor.

There's only so many times I can listen to "DO YOU LIKE FRENCH TOAST" before I go "ugh" and give up on life.

The biggest issue with judging this competition, is that I'd have to be able to discern how unfunny a submission is. For example, things that make me laugh are funny, but things that don't make me laugh... what do I do with them? Is one submission less funny than the other? How do you judge the difference between not laughing and not laughing? There's little room for actual thought, when it comes down to it, and while I wouldn't mind doing it, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Snowdeath - Taped Thumbs?

I can't say I'm a fan of this one. For starters, just getting judges (since I wouldn't be able to monitor everyone, I have a life) to judge what would need to be judged would be a nightmare, since I always strive for faceless and impartial non-Vizzed people to help me in my judging.

Beyond the ticker tape nightmare, I just can't say I'm a fan of it. I just don't see the appeal of it. Seems kinda lame, actually.

Zlinqx - Glitch Hunter 007

This isn't a bad idea, but it would be tougher for more competitors than the other challenges, which would make this a low priority one to actually do.

Making a video would be a good idea, but the issue is not everyone can do it easily. I myself haven't made videos in the RGR, though I know I "could" do it. Just seems like more effort than the other challenges would require (and while we want effort, going too far with effort requirements can lead to apathy).

I do like the idea of finding glitches though. They are pretty awesome.

MELTED ARMY ENCLAVE - Loses 5 points for violation of rule 9. It was even all capitalized!

For the purposes of scoring, I'll just be using the first thing they each submitted. Sucks if your best idea got drowned out, but you knew there were rules.

juuldude - Draw a comic

I'm going to assume he means actually draw, and not use the RGR to get screenshots to make a comic.

This would be cool, but then he added the qualifier, "and has a meme in it". I'm really not a fan of memes in general, and it would lead to many comics having the same feel. Can't say I'm a fan.

megamanmaniac - The Great IT Scavenger Hunt!

While I like scavenger hunts, this one might be a bit too ambitious. Innocent Town is a huge forum, of almost 25,000 posts. To ask users to dig through some threads to find an obscure post or image is just a bit much, especially if I ask for a user to find my answer to a question about how I view religion in depth (which actually CAN be found in my 172 page AA... happy hunting!).

It's not a bad idea for spur of the moment, but not one I think we will ever do, just because of how long and boring it would be for those who aren't big on forum searching.

mrfe - Leggy Puzzle Time Go

Well, this one is unique, but highly impractical. I'm good at solving puzzles... but not making them. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what kind of puzzle they want, but the closest thing to a real puzzle I could make would be something similar to my Mafia games...

And Mafia is already a thing.

I'll pass.

LES VIZERABLES - Congrats to the only team without a major rule violation.

Blubcreator - Riddle me this!

This would be an interesting idea.

Riddles can be fun, and really, when done on the spot, they can lead to incredible moments. So I like this, in theory.

In practice, however, the internet exists, and since there's no way to force someone to answer the riddle as soon as they log on, it would be too easy to game this particular challenge. You would end with either 4 perfect cabins or a deadlock tiebreaker that goes on until someone decides it is dumb.

I like the idea, but there are too many issues, with regards to how it would be handled.

sonicmcmuffin - Which User Is Most Likely To Eat a Cheese Sandwich Upside Down

I like this idea as well, and it's fair to everyone.

He explained the premise well, and it would be interesting, and unique to this competition. Simply ask a bunch of people to fill out a survey based on what user they think would be most likely to do a specific thing, or be a certain way, or say a certain phrase, and then quiz the campers on what they think the Vizzed (or IT!) population thinks of that answer.

To be fair, I wouldn't ask anyone participating in Vizzed Camp, probably. But this is intriguing.

pacman1755 - Can I really be the reviewer?

The idea is basic and generic, which isn't an issue, but the sheer reality of this is if even 10 people did this challenge, I'd have to spend far too long reading to actually judge properly.

And then I'd have to bring in other judges to do so... and then there's the matter of how to read a review for a game I haven't played versus one I have... and I dunno. I just don't think this one makes a lot of sense, honestly.

mlb789 - Let's play some Backyard Baseball

Simple, effective, I like it.

There's not a whole lot to say. It's basically a high score competition.

CAPTAIN CRUNCH AND THE CEREAL KILLERS - Rule 9, fellas. Gingercream1 stated two submissions. Only one allowed. yoshirulez! did more than 1. Same with GameBoy1023. -10 points.

Gingercream1 - Joint Story

Basically everyone writes something and it all goes together. It would be interesting, but the writing style clashes would be horrible, and likely lead to a lot of confusion among the judges.

...

I might just do this competition in the future for that reason alone.

supernerd117 - What Kind of Pokemove Are You?

Create a move in the Pokemon universe. Best moves, based on practicality and originality win. Alright.

yoshirulez! - Gyromite is Dynamite

This one is probably my least favorite of the competition, simply because of the player limit. Only two would basically be allowed to play for each cabin, forcing me to come up with another challenge to run at the same time JUST so everyone is allowed to do something.

GameBoy1023 - Get Far in Puzzle Link

Never even heard of the game. Obviously obscure. Maybe fun.

It's hard to understand, apparently, which would make the contest rather difficult. This competition is about fun. Not a lot of fun in things we can't understand.

----

That's all the submissions... now, which ones did I like best...

1st - sonicmcmuffin, Which User Is Most Likely To Eat a Cheese Sandwich Upside Down - 50 points
2nd - a user of this, Let's Play Mario Paint - 30 points
3rd - mlb789, Backyard Baseball HR Derby! - 20 points
4th - thing1, Catch Pokemon - 10 points
5th - Gingercream1, Joint Story - 10 points
6th - juuldude, Draw a Comic - 10 points
7th - Blubcreator, Riddle Me This - 10 points
8th - supernerd117, What Kind of Pokemove Are You? - 10 points
9th - mrfe, Leggy Puzzle Time Go - 10 points
10th - Furret, Don't Laugh - 10 points

Everything else didn't place, and got 0 points.

Points scored for this competition:

The Irony - 45 = 30 (2nd) + 10 (4th) + 10 (10th) - 5 (Violations)
Melted Army Enclave - 15 = 10 (6th) + 10 (9th) - 5 (Violations)
Les Vizerables - 80 = 50 (1st) + 20 (3rd) + 10 (7th)
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 10 = 10 (5th) + 10 (8th) - 10 (Violations)

As we can plainly see, the biggest winners of this week are the Vizerable ones, who made up MAJOR ground on everyone this week. And the biggest losers are Captain Crunch's Cereal Killers, who are quickly falling out of the race, and need a strong week to get back into the swing of things.

-----

So let's use this week's challenge to give me a break since I'm so busy... this week's challenge... is one you guys suggested! WHICH ONE IS IT??? (OK, I changed it a bit, like I said I would)

....

.........

...............................

....

Day 6 - July 14th-July 21st
Let's Play, Mario Paint! - Draw Innocent Town in Mario Paint!

This one is one I came up with while reading the submissions... I know what Innocent Town looks like, and you have all been coming here for a LONG TIME.

But I don't think any of you know what Innocent Town actually looks like :3

So, this week's challenge is to draw, paint, or show how you think IT looks like from your perspective. Nothing is out of bounds, in this competition, and you can draw whatever part of Innocent Town you want. Want to focus on NDND? You got it. Mafia your style? Let's a go! Or maybe, you want to draw something more obscure, like where I live, or the landscape, or the city skyline or whatever else you can think of? Go go go.

Innocent Town may be my world, but it's also all of your homes. Show me what you think about it by showing me what you think it looks like.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. Whatever you choose MUST FOLLOW VIZZED RULES. I don't want phalluses everywhere.
2. It must be done in Mario Paint. Which Mario Paint? That's YOUR decision. As long as it is on Vizzed and titled "Mario Paint" in some fashion, you will get credit for it.
3. No limit on submissions. As you can probably guess by this unlimited limit, there are no bonus points on the table. You can make as little as 0, and as many as 42,000,000 submissions (well, more than that, really). The only limit is your time and patience.
4. The scoring will be based on creativity, originality, and staying as true to your source material as possible.
5. Asking me what something looks like is against the rules. It is entirely up to you to do any digging to be accurate to IT's lore.
6. Anything Innocent Town related is fair game.
7. All submissions must be submitted to the game's page AND your team thread. This is to ensure that you actually did do the piece yourself, and also to make it easier to gather up submissions.
8. I will be cracking down HARD on rule violations now and in the future, as you saw. ALL CAPTAINS OR CO-CAPTAINS MUST SUMMON ME TO THEIR SUBMISSIONS POST.
9. In the vein above, all submissions by all users in the cabin will be in the submission post.
10. Music is fair game IF YOU UPLOAD A VIDEO OF THE MUSIC.
11. Title it so I know what you drew.
12. Any and all questions related to rules should be asked in thread, as always.

Rewards? Fine, I'll up the ante to convince you this needs to be done right!

1st - 100(!) points
2nd - 50 points
3rd - 40 points
4th-7th - 20 points
8th-15th - 10 points
16th+ - 5 points
As the competition drags on, I find myself pre-occupied, more often than not. I need to find the remedy for this lethargic behavior.

In any case, we have an update to do! And boy, is it an update or what?

(OK, I changed it a bit, like I said I would)

....

Vizzed Elite

Let's just get this out of the way.

-----

This week, the challenge was to draw Innocent Town in Mario Paint.

-----

The Irony

A user of this :
"A painting of IT Park, and the scenic Mafia Warehouse. And the statue to Leggy, the founder of the city"

The artwork itself isn't half bad, and effort was seemingly made to capture their vision of Innocent Town. They lose points for repetitive patterns on the grass, water, and building, but their originality, and their vision leave this piece with a decent score.

Score - 20/30

patar4097 :
"Basically, I made Innocent Town in the middle of a Mafia game"

The use of shadows here is a nice touch, and accurately enough, a user depicts their vision of what a game of Mafia (a staple of IT) looks like in progress. It's not entirely clear who they drew besides Leggy, the omnipotent zebra god, but their creativity is noted. No major recurring patterns, and an attention to detail will let this piece score well.

Score - 22/30

Furret :
"Every murder mystery game pretty much"

A good source material (Murder Mystery) with an accurate depiction of what MM really is (from my view anyway, it looks as if the Murderer is in plain sight, and no one outside of the Murderer is actually trying to play the game). However, it's stick art. I could make stick art at 2 years old. Even if one isn't a great artist, effort goes into art. There wasn't a hell of a lot of effort here.

Score - 16/30

"Untitled"

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at. A continuation of the above? It's more detailed than the above, but it lacks any sense of understanding. Unfortunately, while a picture is worth a thousand words, if all those words are gibberish, it's impossible to understand.

Score - 15/30

"Untitled"

This may be their best submission. Having all the detail the above had, while having an obvious source material of the first entry, the only thing holding this back are a few inconsistencies about IT. We do not have grass mini skirts, straw hats, or say "Ayy lmao". IT is not like Hawaii. Nice effort though.

Score - 19/30

Popeye116 :
"Untitled"

You have to read his post to make any sense of what is going on, but even if you do read it, you will leave not having all the answers you need. Or leaving with answers you didn't want. Either or, this is a representation of the border, more or less. Blue skies and Innocence going into Innocent Town. But the deeper you go, the darker it gets, and the more "anarchic" the place is perceived to be. While this is largely accurate, in words, the art doesn't convey enough to give it a high score.

Score - 20/30

-----

Melted Army Enclave - -5 points for not summoning me to the submissions post.

juuldude :
"Untitled"

This picture features the three IT mods, pacman1755, mlb789, and myself, and all of us are laughing. Presumably at you. The further right you go, the less detailed the art is, but it's decent source material, even if not a 1:1 painting of what "Innocent Town" actually is. Their creativity is noted, and since I could tell who everyone was at a glance, their artwork itself is up to snuff. I have to dock a point though for the portrayal of my hair. pacman1755 got great hair, despite it being ratty, and I got terrible hair, despite it being glorious.

Score - 23/30

tgags123 :
"Welcome to Innocent Town"

As you can see, the title really says it all. Welcome to Innocent Town. It's a road, some grass, and it's dark. It's pretty basic, and tells us nothing of the culture of Innocent Town, other than "it's creepy".

Score - 13/30

-----

Les Vizerables - I was "summoned", but the post wasn't what I was looking for. I'll not take off points this time, but next time, actually include the submissions in your post.

pacman1755 :
"IT City Limits"

Despite being a mod of IT, pacman1755 has never been shown exactly what IT looks like. So it isn't his fault he didn't get an accurate portrayal of what the city looks like. The artwork isn't terrible, but the lack of detail hurts (the zebra was clearly done after the background, as you can see the grey paint of the background on the zebra) and the inattention to source material hurts (Wild Yoshis would not roam Innocent Town, likely, robot ninja penguins however, yes).

Score - 17/30

Blubcreator :
"Not just any door... but a red one!"

I actually like this submission a lot, despite the lack of details. Minimalist art is still art, and the artist explains their reasoning quite well, so that may sway me. Basically, they see IT as a door you enter. The chief rule of IT is proudly displayed above, the rule of "Funny, Not Stupid". And the explanation that the door may be a trap, as the artist says in their own words, "There are many games in this land however it's most likely a trap to get you to play something like Mario Paint or an unresponsive version of Pacman". Creative and original. Lacks detail, but otherwise, a good submission.

Score - 22/30

sonicmcmuffin :
"Expectations vs. Reality"

This wasn't a bad premise, and we've already sort of seen a "darker beneath the surface" entry, so it's not as if they had the totally wrong idea. However, that also doesn't mean they had the right one. Attention to source material is incredibly important. Incredibly. And in the artists words "Mainly because everyone seems to think Innocent town is amazing, but in reality all it has is corruption, death and narcissism". Innocent Town "is" amazing. And in reality, it is still amazing, otherwise, people wouldn't still be here 25,000 posts later. An alright piece that is hurt by the artist explaining too much.

Score - 15/30

"A very bizzare submission"
A Youtube Link

Now this is different, and original. The attempt to put music to a vision of Innocent Town is a bold idea. And luckily for the artist, it comes off well enough. This is music I could legitimately believe plays in the halls of IT. It's catchy, and it leaves an air of depression and cynicism. Both things which are important in IT. However, it also keeps it light, to be it from being full blown terribleness. The only flaw with it, is it ends on such an abrupt note. Otherwise, potentially the best entry of the competition.

Score - 27/30

-----

Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - The submission post wasn't last, but it happened, so I'll give them a pass.

Gingercream1 :
"Not So Innocent Town"

There's detail, disrepair, and a comfortable source material with which to work with. It's not the most original idea, but it gets the point across better than anyone else who did a similar piece, so they get points for that. Biggest flaw with the piece isn't even the artist's fault, but more the medium with which they were asked to create.

Score - 24/30

"Fun For One"

This is a portrayal of me, the owner/leader of IT. Set on what I would presume to be the beaches of Kanashi Shima (where a recent round of Mafia was held!), it has both accuracy, and attention to detail. The only issue is, you see me, but you don't see Innocent Town itself, which was the point of the competition. Unless you are saying "I" am Innocent Town. I'll just assume that.

Score - 22/30

"Leaving So Soon?"

Not nearly as detailed as the other pieces, and it's not entirely clear what they were shooting for, but they did display the first real use of mountains (yes, there are many mountains in IT), so there's a plus. In all, it's just hard to score something when you aren't entirely clear where they were going with it.

Score - 15/30

"Group Fire"

Based on her comic of Mafia (where she was killed by a potato), this picture doesn't do a bad job depicting the fire the group huddles around. Though it was never explicitly stated, I feel I have to be the one to explain that the campfire was actually on the beach, not the grassy knoll. It is located a fair deal from the huts, which are located close enough to see the fire, but not close enough to be warm from the hut (). It's detailed, but lacks accuracy is what I'm saying. Overall, a fine piece.

Score - 22/30

Gamin'Gal :
"Untitled - I hope I summoned you correctly"

They see Innocent Town as a series of islands. And in a sense, they aren't wrong! Only a few people have seen the actual map of Innocent Town, but IT is one large land mass with a few islands scattered around. The islands don't have any specializations however, and are just there for show. Everything is mixed together in IT. So the picture is not accurate, but it is original.

Score - 16/30

supernerd117 :
"Untitled"

Jenny, 867-5309 is a great reference, but unfortunately has basically nothing to do with Innocent Town. And I don't really see the point of this one.

Score - 12/30

GameBoy1023 :
"Untitled"

This one is actually fairly decent. The idea to draw the mods of IT was a fairly popular one, and they add their own flair, by drawing what they think the mods would look like, rather than cheat using avatars. From left to right, mlb789, pacman1755, and legacyme3 are all drawn fairly decently, although Leggy looks more like a llama than a zebra in the piece. There's also a trash can, so that's cool.

Score - 18/30

yoshirulez! :
"Untitled"

Our last submission features Snowdeath and pacman1755 at a saloon. We don't really have saloons in IT (although we have things like saloons) but it's a nice touch, and something creative at least. Lacks detail.

Score - 15/30

Team Scores for this event

Les Vizerables - 135 = 100 (1st) + 20 (7th) + 10 (12th) + 5 (16th)
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 120 = 50 (2nd) + 20 (4th) + 20 (5th) + 10 (11th) + 10 (15th) + 5 (18th) + 5 (20th)
The Irony - 65 = 20 (6th) + 10 (8th) + 10 (9th) + 10 (10th) + 10 (13th) + 5 (17th)
Melted Army Enclave - 40 = 40 (3rd) + 5 (19th) - 5 (violations)

For viewing easier...

Les Vizerables - 135
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 120
The Irony - 65
Melted Army Enclave - 40

If I made an error with the math somewhere, let me know. If I placed someone on the wrong team... let me know. Basically if there's a mistake anywhere in my post, let me know.

As we see, despite some concerns that there were too many points on the line, no one made egregious movements. Two teams improved their standing, and two teams didn't. It's always that way, it seems.

So, how will I allow you guys to get revenge... Oh, I know!

-----

Day 7 - July 27th-August 8th
Gotta Catch 'em All

As you can probably guess from the title... we're having a Pokemon contest!

In this contest, I want you to catch SPECIFIC pokemon. Every pokemon (from generations 1-3) will be worth 1 point. Your job is to catch as many different pokemon as you can.

Now, here's where it gets interesting... you can use any game on Vizzed to do this, so long as it features you actually CATCHING the pokemon (you cannot catch them on camera in Pokemon Snap, for example, needs to be a traditional pokemon game or hack).

As you can see, I'm giving you nearly two weeks, which means, odds are, you aren't going to catch them ALL. So focus on the ones you think you can get, and don't bother with the ones you can't.

How you get your pokemon doesn't matter. This contest will show your perseverance.

So, now, the rules of engagement...

RULE OF ENGAGEMENT
1. Any pokemon game goes, except games like Pokemon Snap. Want to use a hack of Pokemon Fire Red, go ahead.
2. Only Pokemon from Gen1-3 count. Hacks that feature Pokemon from Gen4 can be used, but no Gen4 pokemon will be counted for the purposes of points.
3. To prove you caught the pokemon, you must either take billions of screenshots, or you can just show me a video of your pokedex/PC Boxes/etc. Whatever medium you choose, it would be helpful if you go slowly enough so I don't need to repeatedly pause the video. A note, if you choose to show boxes, I will not see pre-evolutionary states, and I will not assume you caught Pidgeotto, just because you have a Pidgeot.
4. If you go the screenshot route, you must submit the pictures to the game page.
5. If you go the video route, you are not required to submit the video to Vizzed, but you are required to put your name in the title of the video so I know it is your video.
6. Also, if you go the video route, you must go into your trainer card, to prove it is you, and you didn't just steal a video.
7. In the above, your trainer card needs part of your username. IE, if your name is Gingercream1, Ginger will do. If your name is sonicmcmuffin, sonic, or muffin, will do. If your name is tgags123, then tgags will do. Point is, I need to know it's actually you.
8. The scoring will happen on a team wide basis. As such, if 5 of you catch pikachu, only 1 of it will count.
9. Each pokemon will only count once per team.
10. Though not strict, please, do not make a million posts in your threads saying you caught ______ and then another saying you caught ________. I should be able to see every submission from the post reply page, without having to dig.
11. Because of the sheer gravity of this competition, the captains are not required to compile everyone's results. If they DO, however, I will award 20 bonus points.
12. Any questions should be directed to me in the threads.

Rewards? Oh boy...

As stated, you get points for each pokemon caught... your reward, then, is the points for each pokemon. If a pokemon is worth 1 point, then that 1 point goes to your team score. Thus, the maximum score you can get in this contest is 386 points.* (although with bonus points you can break 400!)

Modifiers.

Not only will you be looking to catch pokemon, but now, you will get bonus points for meeting certain criteria.

10 Shiny Pokemon (NON HACKS ONLY) - 25 bonus points (Screenshots of each shiny Pokemon required, in thread and on game page)

25 Shiny Pokemon (NON HACKS ONLY) - 50 bonus points (Screenshots of each shiny Pokemon required, in thread and on game page)

Level 100 Pokemon (NON HACKS ONLY) - 1 bonus point for EACH pokemon at level 100. (Screenshots of each Level 100 Pokemon required, in thread and on game page)

Non-Hack Bonus - 20 bonus points if you didn't use a hack to catch any of the 386 Pokemon (this means using only Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Gold/Silver/Crystal/Red/Blue/Yellow/Green). Only counts if at least 300 pokemon were caught.

386 Pokemon Bonus - 10 bonus points (must catch all 386, counts if you use hacks, though you will be ineligible for Non-Hack Bonus)

????? - ?????

This is a really difficult task to accomplish in under two weeks. Can you catch them all? And yes, again, each pokemon is only worth one point. Happy hunting.

*before modifiers and bonus points
Let's just get this out of the way.

If I made an error with the math somewhere, let me know. If I placed someone on the wrong team... let me know. Basically if there's a mistake anywhere in my post, let me know.

As we see, despite some concerns that there were too many points on the line, no one made egregious movements. Two teams improved their standing, and two teams didn't. It's always that way, it seems.

So, how will I allow you guys to get revenge... Oh, I know!

OK, I am on a tight schedule, and need to go to the gym, or my girlfriend will keep harassing/bugging/torturing/pestering/threatening me. So, yeah, let's get this long submission post out of the way (spoiler, it's really not that long).

-----

This week, the challenge was to simply, catch pokemon, simple? Simple!

-----

Here's how we'll show scores and stuff. Obviously, some teams did better than others. I will only be showing the VIDEOS in this thread. There were screenshots, which contributed to scores, but you can go out of your way to find those if you care. I am on a tight enough schedule and can't go screenshot hunting to put them ALL in this thread. Rest assured though, I did score every pokemon caught. I may have been one or two off, because I flew through it in about an hour, but none of the placings were skewed as a result of it.

The Irony
#1
#2

They also had a few screenshots.

Let's start off with the team that was in first, entering the contest. They may have used hacks... but they caught all 386 pokemon. This means, they get the 10 point bonus for catching them all, but not the non-hack bonus.

Also, Furret, who made a video had amazing music, so I'm giving the team a few more bonus points for his decision to not bore me while I was doing the counting. It may not seem like a big deal, but when you've gone up and down a list of 386 pokemon 4 times over in the span of an hour, you get bored very easily.

In total, The Irony will walk away from this competition with 406 points. Nice.

Melted Army Enclave
#1
#2
#3
#4

Next, we'll go to the team that was in dead last, entering this competition. They needed a big score, just to stay in it, and did they ever deliver.

They may have used hacks, but they didn't care about the bonuses, and managed to exploit this to score themselves a nifty 357 points (debateably, they could have had 359, but either they miscounted or I did. It was probably me, in my rush to get out of here).

Either way, they scored very highly and will still be alive, heading into the final competition.

Bonus Spreadsheet

Oh boy, this team stands out, because not only did they score high, they did it without the use of hacks. And since they caught at least 300 pokemon, they were able to score the Non Hack Bonus.

Additionally, they were the only team to make their submission ENTIRELY NON HACKS, so I'll give them a bonus 10 points for their dedication and perseverance to get every last point available. I love that.

Finally, we'll give them 10 more bonus points for their nifty spreadsheet, because it made cross referencing easier, and anything that makes my job easier, is generally a good thing.

Basically, bonuses grew on trees this week, and this team got up early to take them all.

Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers
#1

Finally, we'll end with Gingercream1 and supernerd117. Because they were the only people to basically do anything for the team this week. There were apparently issues with the RGR for some of them, so it may not be entirely fair, but this team has put in clearly the least effort among all four, and in the closing weeks, too.

Unfortunately, I don't give bonus points out of pity.

They finished with a score of 89.

I'll do the blog post in a few days... but in the meantime, it's time to prepare for what is the FINAL OVERALL CHALLENGE OF CAMP.

Yes, we've arrived at that time. In about 2 weeks, camp is over for the summer, which means it's go time. Anyone who participated in Camp in 2012 knows that we like to end things with a super massive bang.

Anyone in 2012 might expect us to have the same exact challenge... they would be wrong.

This time... it lies with you.

Here are your final rules...

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. Each team will come up with one challenge as a team. This challenge must be submitted by 8/13/2015 at midnight EST.
2. Four Teams, Four Challenges. Each Team Does Each Challenge.
3. It can't be something already done in this camp.
4. It must be something where there's an objective winner (IE - Not a judging competition, I can't determine the winner)
5. It must be something in the RGR.
6. It can't involve netplay.
7. Must be an individual contest.

Following these rules, it can be a speedrun of a short game, it can be a high score contest, or it can be a mix, where you have to score as many points as you can within 10 minutes.

The only limitations are what you yourself set. Keep in mind, that if you choose a hard challenge, you have to do it yourself, so choose something you think your team can win at.

I will approve all competition ideas. When you have an idea, SUMMON ME ASAP so I can approve or deny your idea. I suggest this, because you don't want to be left scrambling for an idea with a day to go. My suggestion is to meet up, discuss ideas, and have the captain form a list of ideas, which he/she can run down with me. If you have a list of like 10 things, odds are, at least one will be approved.

Now, you must be wondering, rewards?

Well, here's something special, you have a chance to completely blow ahead of everyone else, and theoretically, anyone can still win.

REWARDS (for each contest) - Individual
1st - 100 Points
2nd - 50 Points
3rd - 25 Points
4th - 10 Points
5th - 5 Points

Additionally, the top 5 in each contest will move on to the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON. As many as 20 people could be in the final challenge, as few as 5 could be. It all depends on who finishes where.

In the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON, you will play 3 games, picked by the host over the span of a week, and you must score as high in each game as possible. You will get 3 Marathon Points for a win, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for third.

MOST MARATHON POINTS REWARDS
1st - 200 Points
2nd - 100 Points
3rd - 50 Points
4th - 25 Points

If there are any questions, about either the submissions, or the challenges the teams choose, or the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON, please address it in your threads! This is vital! It's the last challenge of Camp. Who wants it the most?

Alright, first let's remind you what was on the line.

-----

REWARDS (for each contest) - Individual
1st - 100 Points
2nd - 50 Points
3rd - 25 Points
4th - 10 Points
5th - 5 Points

Additionally, the top 5 in each contest will move on to the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON. If someone is top 5 in two or more contests, they will get one entry. As many as 20 people could be in the final challenge, as few as 5 could be. It all depends on who finishes where.

-----

So, here are the results for EVERY challenge done. If you are in the top 5, you will be summoned (most of you are summoned somewhere due to lack of turnout). I only counted results your captain submitted. So if your score didn't count, it's because they didn't do their job.

Balloon Fight
Zlinqx : 315,650 (The Irony) - 100 points
sonicmcmuffin : 153,950 (Les Vizerables) - 50 points
GameBoy1023 : 119,500 (Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers) - 25 points
juuldude : 90,250 (Melted Army Enclave) - 10 points
ZeroTails : 75,450 (The Irony) - 5 points
pacman1755 - 71,100 (Les Vizerables)
Gingercream1 - 45,750 (Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers)
Furret - 16,500 (The Irony)

Donkey Kong
pacman1755 : 46,800 (Les Vizerables) - 100 points
juuldude : 45,300 (Melted Army Enclave) - 50 points
sonicmcmuffin : 37,200 (Les Vizerables) - 25 points
Zlinqx : 24,600 (The Irony) - 10 points
Furret : 8,200 (The Irony) - 5 points

Sonic 2 Speedrun/High Score
sonicmcmuffin : 44:25 (Les Vizerables) - 100 points
pacman1755 : 50:26 (Les Vizerables) - 50 points

Punchout Speedrun
sonicmcmuffin : Soda Popinski (Les Vizerables) - 100 points
Galacta : Piston Honda (Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers) - 50 points

So here's how many points each team brought in for the challenges...

The Irony - 120 Points
Melted Army Enclave - 60 Points
Les Vizerables - 425 Points
Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers - 75 Points

So, adding up the point totals (no point doing a blog right now, this will serve as the last activity post, and after the conclusion of the contest, I'll wrap up the blog), here is what the standings are, going into the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON.

POINTS LEADERS
1st - Les Vizerables, 1207 points
2nd - The Irony, 991 points
3rd - Melted Army Enclave, 722 points
4th - Captain Crunch and the Cereal Killers, 569 points

-----

So yeah, we have a new leader... and by a little over 200 points.

And with this being the lineup of players eligible for the final contests...

THE IRONY - Zlinqx, ZeroTails, Furret
MELTED ARMY ENCLAVE - juuldude
LES VIZERABLES - sonicmcmuffin, pacman1755
CAPTAIN CRUNCH AND THE CEREAL KILLERS - GameBoy1023, Galacta

Only two teams have a valid shot at finishing in first place. Each team has the ability to move up a spot except the Melted Army Enclave, who would remain third, even with a win by juuldude. They can avoid falling behind CC+CK, who have two players going.

The Irony and Les Vizerables are in a title fight, and only one can win. The Irony have three players in the final matchup. The Vizerable ones have two, but one of those two contributed 275 points to their team's score this week.

It's the Vizerables match to lose.

All that's left is the games and the rewards which you should already know.

-----

In the SUPER MEGA CHALLENGE MARATHON, you will play 3 games, picked by the host over the span of a week, and you must score as high in each game as possible. You will get 3 Marathon Points for a win, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for third.

MOST MARATHON POINTS REWARDS
1st - 200 Points
2nd - 100 Points
3rd - 50 Points
4th - 25 Points

So what are the three games you will be playing over the course of the next week?

Thunder and Lightning - Easy Graphics - High Score Contest

Mega Man - High Score Contest

Simpsons High Score Contest

You may have noticed, all three are high score contests. All have largely the same rules.

Post the high score to the game page so it is official. You guys should know how this works.

If you somehow have a question, you know who to talk to.

Your deadline is August 28th. It was going to be the 26th, but I got busy.

That means the last day is August 28th. Which means it's over in less than a week. Meaning this is it. Make it count.
