You don't know when it happened, but it did.

Flashback to a month ago, when you were packing for your business trip.  You took 5 outfits for a month of being out of town, knowing you would easily be able to wash them over and over again.  You said goodbye to the neighbor that would watch your pets for the month.  You got on your plane and you left.  Everything was normal.

Go forwards to a week into the trip.  You begin hearing strange things about New York, which is where you live.  There are reports of slight violence and riots in the streets.  The economic downturn is hitting New York before it hits anyone else.  But you aren't concerned, and nobody else is as well.  It all looks minor.

Go forwards another two weeks and everything seems back to normal on TV.  The news coming out of New York is that the riots have turned in to spotty peaceful protests and there's just as much violence as there used to be in New York.  You feel relieved, as the outburst of violence two weeks prior could have been something big, but it looks like it wasn't.

Flash forwards to the day you left from your business trip.  You'll miss the work, as it was really just playing golf and making business pitches, but you want to see your pets again.  And maybe your neighbor too, although your neighbor can sometimes be a little annoying.  You take your flight and arrive in New York.

Once you arrive, they check you for residence.  You did not expect this.  Those who do not live in New York are sent back on flights to where they came from.  However, you are allowed in the city.  You go through the airport and exit the doors, which a guard has to unlock for you.

You exit the doors, and they slam shut.  You can hear the doors locking.  You look back at them, but you know there's no turning back.  You must look forwards.

You don't know how you missed it, but everything is not okay in New York anymore.  Maybe it was the slamming and locking of the doors that distracted you, but it looked like the world had given up on New York.  The news reports you saw just a week ago were outright fabrications.  You realize that you'll have to live life in a different way.

The city is torn up and destroyed.  There's barely anything left, and anything that is left resembles a horrible survivor movie.

You wonder if your pets are okay.

You realize they aren't.

Dear Diary
Today was another pathetic excuse of something we refer to as “humanity”, The people in this world just don't seem to realise how insignificant they really are. They're just sacks of flesh with no meaning and no understanding. Just going through their lives with reckless
happiness. How can they be so happy? I just cannot comprehend how stupid these people must be.

They seem to laugh at every little thing, They seem to cry whenever something doesn't go their way. They just don't understand that life is seemingly meaningless. No one will remember them and they'll simply become another chunk of carbon in the ground forgotten by history.

I just cannot grasp it. Is it ignorance is it lack of intelligence.. what makes these people tick? Would they actively abandon someone to save their own life. Would they sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Would they simply embrace death and accept it in their stride. For all
their faults humans are simply interesting.

Anyway today I decided that this teenage girl would be my next creature to observe. Her clothes implied that she was rather eccentric and perhaps one who dove into things with reckless abandon.. Unluckily for me she was just another typical boring person. Nothing redeeming about her at all. Just another person trying to be unique and by doing so being completely the same as everyone else.. Essentially making her efforts mundane.

I've yet to find some “thing” that has actually,surprised me. They all seem to follow the same generic impulses and reactions. For example, Most people would happily sacrifice someone else for their own life, This of course is only if the subject cannot see or does not actively know the person being “killed”, Change those two factors and they become more “aware” of the consequences of death. It's really rather odd to me, I'm pretty sure humans secretly plan to murder others in contrived ways but once faced with the situation they soon realise how tough it really is.

If I was to describe how humans think it would be that they put a lot of thought into things they could theoretically do, but most of the time these things never come to fruition.. of course there is always exceptions but the people that usually go through these things are usually too mentally unstable to actively understand the complexities. Finally if I was to describe them in one word it would be selfish.

Anyway, I've been talking to this female on the internet that wants to do some sort of suicide pact.. I'm supposed to meet her tomorrow.. At least that should be interesting I suppose. If she does it.. I get to see a nice splatter of crimson on the floor.. If not well... She wouldn't be the first to finally realise what a selfish being she truly is.


I've been super busy this week sadly, My plan for this story was for the character to above to slowly fall in love with said suicide pact girl, slowly making them realise that their hatred for the world is unjust..... but i really didn't have the spare time to do so..  Either way it's something..

A test of sanity

A tall and slender man approached and sat in the chair across from me. My close friend and lawyer Garred.

“Well then have they decided?” I asked

“This would be much easier if you would let me do my job Mitch” he said with more nervousness than anger. I’m in for murder and currently they want to know if I’m crazy. Two other people walked in. A man and a woman. People’s faces all look the same to me. Everyone else aside from Garred are just faces in the background.

“State your name” said the man.

“Mitch” I replied.

“Now tell me Mitch-“. I interrupted before he continued.

“Before we go on with this let me answer some of your questions for you.” I said with an agitated tone. I know you and I are human beings and I know what planet I’m on”. Garred tried to interrupt.

“My client would like to remain silent until-“.

“You want to know if I think I’m a Martian who thinks the world is made of cheese. Well the truth is I am in control of my mind. The truth is…” I took a pause. “The truth is I killed that man and I was sane when I did it.”

“Mitch for god’s sake just let me do my job!” said Garred. Although he knew as I did it was over. "My client is not in right of mind I believe we need a day or two to-“. The woman interrupted without acknowledging him.

“Well I believe we’ve seen enough”. The man and woman both walked out.

“I’m sorry Mitch. I wish you would have let me try to help you” said Mitch.

“It’s alright Garred we all have to face the consequences someday” I replied.

Outside the man and woman were talking. “Well that something” said the woman.

“Yeah maybe if he had a lawyer he would have been stopped from giving a flat out confession”.

The Trapped Banker

Entry 1 - Friday

I went into the main vault to take some of the money out of my savings since I already work here, and I was just about to leave, with my shift being over and all. Maybe I shouldn't have been taking the money when it was shut down time, and the vault self locks at Friday for the weekend, and doesn't open until Monday. Well, now I'm trapped in here, with only the leftover stuff I had for lunch and my own savings and "Emergency" kit. I guess you can say that I'm going to be trapped here for a little while. I hope I can handle being alone for the weekend like this. But I'm strong, I think I can manage.

Entry 2 - Saturday...?

I ate the rest of my leftovers a little too quickly the next day...at least that's what I think it is. There's no telling of time around here since it's a vault with no windows or any type of time to tell. I'm going to go with my gut on this one that the day has passed. Should've brought my frickin watch with me, or I wouldn't be as paranoid as I am. Great, now I'm hungry, paranoid that a day hasn't even gone by yet, and the only thing keeping me company now is my own sanity and my savings. Like that'll help me.

Entry 3 - Sunday(?)

I can't even take this much anymore. I'm hungry, afraid that I might not even see the light of day again, or even see my own house or family again. The only thing keeping me company is my own thoughts. The emergency kit was a bottle of wine that I've been saving for a special occasion has been opened, and I drank a good amount of it and now I'm buzzed. Great. But this is weird, but I feel like I've been starting to think more about my life with this level of solitude. Do I need to keep going? Should I even deserve to see the light of day again? Can I even see my future in this locked up bank? Maybe I should start over. Maybe I should start a new life, look for a new job, and try to clean up my act. I haven't been the most honest human being, or even a good human being in general. I've done things that I really regret now that I think about it. Is it possible that fate is telling me that I should clean myself up, pay my dues, and reinvent myself? Or should I....

As of this post, the submission period has ended. Any submission before this point will count for the competition.

Judging will take between 1-3 days, during which point, there will be no "real" contest for you guys, as I can't update the activity thread until I have the results from this competition.

It will take that long because I have two other judges who need to read all these stories, as well as me. It will take us time to come to a decision.

Scoring will go as such, we will count up all the submissions, and give points based on personal placement.

For example, if there are 20 entries, the top entry will get 20 points from me, the second will get 19, the third 18, and the last, 1. Once all entries have a score, I will total up the points from all the judges (max score of 60), and give the entries placement based on the highest aggregate score.

At this time, I will announce a mini competition that will be good for a few bonus points, to give you something to do, while this is in processing.

The Tour de Vizzed is on, and as much as I loathe the TDV, it has given me the ability to give you something to do for the next few days.

So here's how this will go down, if you want, you can compete in the TDV over the days of the judging. If it's one day of judging, it's one day of competition, if it's three days, then it is three.

For every 5 points you score in the TDV between now and the end of the judging period, you will earn your cabin 10 bonus points to be applied to your score.

For example, if you score 20 points between now and the end of the judging period, you will gain 40 bonus points for your cabin! This may seem like a lot of points, but the early days of the TDV are competitive, so everyone will be trying to compete with you.

You can get points by either posting a lot in quantity, posting a lot of words, or doing site staff type work.

So that's all! Good luck in this mini-competition.

So guys whilst we wait for the results.. Any ideas about making a team layout.. I have no qualms about making one.. But it's likely to be like the one I have now.. Which is very basic.. I mean someone else can easily make a layout if they want to.. Heck I could use my old layout code which went around a little bit with other layout creators..

Just something to make us really stand out as a team, because despite how many people we have compared to others and the overwhelming disadvantage we have because of it we won't give up and we will give the bigger teams a hard time.. 

I believe that everyone here will actively try to take part in every competition and will also offer help to others in the team that need it. Let's do this for pride and let's do this to prove that the older users are superior!

Any coding I've done doesn't exist

I suppose we could do a layout but I can only code. My art skills are limited to stick men on ms paint.

Besides I have layouts disabled so it doesn't matter as much to me =p.

Sorry about my poor score in the story writing guys.. I never had a chance to write a few other chapters that showed character progression... He wasn't supposed to be such an ass.. that's why i stated the part of the bottom.. but i'm guessing that got cut off.. Either way.. It kinda sucks that we are the only team that had every member compete but we get the least points for doing so.

I just thought I'd inform everyone that as of August 1st there's a high chance I'll be going to Leicester for a month. If that does happen my ability to post wont be affected but theres a high chance I wont be able to do anything RGR related

Alright this is the best I can come up with. I have a new found respect for leggy I suppose.

CREATE A RIDDLE CHALLENGE:
1. Create a riddle and make it as simple and complex as you wish
2. The riddle is sent to the host and only he knows the answer
3. The riddles are then exchanged randomly to other teams
4. The riddles are judged by the host and on how the other teams solve the riddles.

I know it sucks but it's really all I could come up with that was unique. In hindsight it may have been better to stick to generic.

My idea is that leggy asks people on the site who they think matches the description for several things... Such as Most competitive and Least Trustworthy... He of course could ask the camp dwellers who they think it will be, but it would prevent cheating if he asked random users on the site... 

Basically it's like end of year awards but the camp goers have to guess who got voted for each.... It could be multiple choice as well to make it easier to guess correctly.. 

TLDR

1. Ask people questions like family fortunes (they can be extremely random like Member most likely to eat a cheese sandwich upside down) 
2. Gather the votes
3. Put up 3/4 choices or go hard mode and offer none
4. Each camp goer has to guess who they think it is..
5. 5 points for each correct guess.. Alternatively 50 for the 1st team, 35. For 2nd team, 20, for 3rd, 10 for 4th

ok here's what I got.

WRITE A GAME REVIEW.

1. It has to be a game either in the RGR

2. It has to be a well-thought review, so up to 1000 words minimum. (can be adjusted to maybe 700)

3. Has to be a unique game, that hasn't been reviewed by everyone else in the board(ex. Mario 64, Donkey Kong Country, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. Hacks of the game can count)

4. The top 10 reviews judged by Leggy get TBD points, and the highest rated group wins the competition.
