legacyme3 : Many poems do tell stories, they don't just have to be narratives, but can have different kinds of stories.

But for the sake of not having to interpret a bunch of poems, I'd recommend writing a narrative poem

Barathemos :

I cannot say I have a preference.

Again, I won't be the only judge anyways, I have numerous people waiting anxiously to see what you all write.

Even if I don't like it, there's a decent chance someone else will.

So really, just do your absolute best.

I'm so sorry that I forgot about the screenshots guys
As for my story, the next few days will be busy for me, not to mention that I need to write a review for my position but from Monday till Thursday I have lots of time luckily, so I probably will make my story during these days.

Wrote a little bit on the flight down. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions because I'm kinda stuck.

It’s been three weeks since the apocalypse started. No, not zombies. We were so stupid to think that the undead was the only epidemic that would wipe us out. In many ways out current situation is worse than a zombie apocalypse. We are being taken over by creatures know as “the soulless”. And it’s all my fault.

I used to be a scientist. I had a normal nine to five job, a wife, and two kids. I worked in a lab not far from my home is San Diego. My whole life I have believed that there is so much out there that we don’t know about, so much that would be beneficial to mankind - and I wanted to be one to make one of these big discoveries. The area I focused most on was human error. What if there was a way to make humans flawless? To removed any imperfections, both physical and social? To make a perfect society? I believed there was a way to make this possible, but I slaved away for fifteen years with no results. Then finally, it happened. Three weeks ago today I made that big discovery. And that’s when s*** hit the fan.

I noticed something unique about the saliva of angler fish. When they come into contact with the brain something strange happens. I began my tests on small animals like mice. I noticed that when I gave the mice a shot of the saliva into their brains, they started acting differently. It was hard to describe, but I was amazed by it. I started testing on bigger animals with similar results. What I found was that something about the saliva actually changed their personality. I could not control the change that occurred - some animals became vicious, some became tame, so became smarter, and so on - but I had definitely made a lot of progress. I realized that this was dangerous but I had just made a HUGE discovery. I wasn’t about to give it up because it could have negative affects. Imagine all of the positive affects it could have. I could make everyone nice and polite. I could rid the world of racism and prejudice and hate. I could make a utopia.

I began to work with the saliva. I wanted to see if I could manipulate it so that I would be able to control it. I started experimenting, but it was hard to tell if I was making progress or not. Animals can’t speak, so I can’t tell if they are being rude or polite or what their personality is. I had to make assumptions based off of their actions, which wasn’t always easy. I needed to test on humans. Probably not a smart idea, but the term “mad scientist” exists for a reason. I offered $1000 to anyone that agreed to participate in my experiments. I ended up with fifteen test subjects, mostly homeless people that will do anything for money. I gave all of them one dose of the serum that I designed to make them all more polite and put them each in their own cell. If you’ve got a brain in your head I’m sure you can guess what happened next. I returned to the lab the next day to see every one of them broken out of their cells. I checked the security cameras and what they showed was difficult to watch. What used to be fifteen innocent people had slowly turned into fifteen barbarians. Instead of removing the rudeness from their personality the serum had instead removed any moral values the subjects had. The test subjects weren’t the only things that were gone. The remainder of the serum was missing as well.

I wrote a very short story about Mrfe

Once upon a time, Mrfe was a little boy in the little town of Vizzed. Mrfe had always been very curious about what happened in the world outside of Vizzed. All Mrfe had ever seen as he grew up was video games here and video games there. Mrfe had gotten sick of playing Mario games all the time, and never was a fan of Sonic games, so Mrfe decided that he'd pack up his bags and head to the town about 15 miles North, called Phemcee.

Now, Phemcee was a very strange town, which no one from Vizzed had ever gone to, it was said to be a barren wasteland with once played mini games, until too many of the Towns people died playing the games, and it was shut down. Mrfe was scared of what could happen to him if he explored the world of Phemcee, but Mrfe was willing to take the risk, it was an adventure of course!

That night, after being read his bed time story and being put to bed, Mrfe got up, gathered some money, some food and water, and a diamond sword and headed out of his window. Mrfe traveled slowly and in the shadows until he was out of town, then he took off running. Mrfe was excited about what was ahead of him, and he was greatly looking forward to what could happen to him in the world of Phemcee. ( the good things of course ).

When Mrfe finally walked into the town of Phemcee, he saw statues as guards with the name "Snowdaeth" above them. At first thought, this scared Mrfe, he didn't want to become a statue like many of these "Snowdaeth" people. However, this didn't stop Mrfe, who continued to walk down the sidewalk into town.

In the town square, Mrfe saw a little shop a walked in, not knowing that it was the start to a mini game. Mrfe saw plates all over the ground, and the door shut behind him. Not knowing what he was doing, he stepped onto the plate infront of him, nothing happened. Then he took another step forward and was suddenly teleported to where he had been before stepping on the first pressure plate.

"Did you not read the sign?" Said a voice from behind him. Mrfe spun around and saw a man with the name "Mystic Laian" standing behind him.

"W...what sign?" Mrfe asked the man. He was shaking, not knowing what was going on. He thought it was only a little shop...

"The one that says we are closed for renovation." Mystic Laian replied to him.

"Oh... sorry..." Mrfe said, slowly walking out the door.

"Where are ya going?" Mystic Laian asked him. "There's plenty more to do here in Phemcee."

"I need to sleep..." Mrfe told him, "but I'll be back later."

Mrfe went home, slept the night, and woke up the next morning, and thought of Mystic Laian and Phemcee.

"What a strange place." He thought to himself. "I love it there."

The End

Sorry I'm late. As I mentioned before, I was on vacation. Here is my story that I wrote on the plane ride to and from Orlando.

It’s been two weeks since the apocalypse started. No, not zombies. We were so stupid to think that the undead was the only epidemic that would wipe us out. In many ways out current situation is worse than a zombie apocalypse. We are being taken over by creatures know as “the soulless”. And it’s all my fault.

I believed there was a way to make this possible, but I slaved away for fifteen years with no results. Then finally, it happened. Three weeks ago today I made that big discovery. And that’s when s*** hit the fan.

I could make everyone nice and polite. I could rid the world of racism and prejudice and hate. I could make a utopia.

I began to work with the saliva. I wanted to see if I could manipulate it so that I would be able to control it. I started experimenting, but it was hard to tell if I was making progress or not. Instead of removing the rudeness from their personality the serum had instead removed any moral values the subjects had. The test subjects weren’t the only things that were gone. The remainder of the serum was missing as well.

I was in a panic. What was I supposed to do? If I contacted the police I would have to tell them that I was responsible and I would surely be arrested. I decided to go after them myself. I guess you could say this was my second mistake.

I ran out of the lab and searched for clues that might give me some kind of a hint as to where these monsters could be. I noticed a hot dog stand on the side of the road that was tipped over with hot dogs all over the floor. I asked the clerk what was wrong and he did not respond. He had a blank look on his face. All of a sudden he snapped and jumped on me. He was must stronger than he appeared. He was screaming curses as he slammed me against the ground over and over again. With the assistance of a passing police officer I was able to pin him to the ground. I then realized what had happened. One of the test subjects had used the serum on him. It had turned him into a monster. He seemed to have no morals or sense of decency, but was able to speak like a normal person (though the words he said were not very nice). It was like he was stripped of his soul.

The police officer put him in handcuffs and took him away. He was screaming curses and slurs the whole time. I should have told the cop why he was acting like that, but I couldn’t. I needed to fix it before anyone found out what I had done.

I went back home and told my wife I might be gone for a while. I didn’t tell her where I was going or why, I just got in my truck and left. I put the news radio station on and sure enough there was talk about strange people causing destruction and committing crimes. The first attack was in downtown San Diego, not too far from the lab. One of the soulless had beaten a pregnant woman and her young child with a mailbox. I rushed to the site of the attack to see if I could catch him, but he was already gone by the time I got there. Instead I was greeted by the sight of four dead police officers. I got out of my truck and looked for clues, something that could help me figure out where he had gone. I found a trail of blood leading into the woods. I followed it, and that was my third mistake.

I only made it a few hundred feet into the woods before I started to get creeped out. There were all sorts of eerie sounds and every once in I while I would see something move. Then, out of nowhere, one of the soulless grabbed me. I struggled but it was no use. He hit me hard on the hand and I passed out.

I woke up in a cave behind bars. There was nothing in the prison but a lantern in the corner. I looked outside the bars and what I saw terrified me. There was a whole group of soulless, but not just the original fifteen. There had to be at least a hundred of them now. They were gathered around a table and seemed to be plotting something. I looked to the left and saw something even more terrifying. They were reproducing the serum. At this point I knew what their plan was. They were going to turn everyone into a monster like I did to them. And I now know why they didn’t just kill me in the woods. They want me to go through what I made them go through. They want me to suffer.

I’m writing this letter to say that I am sorry. This is all my fault. I am still in the cave prison, I have been for almost two weeks, but I’ve overheard that they are going to start their revolution tomorrow. Which means that this is likely my last day of being me. I’ll leave this note in the cave in hopes that someone will find this. I hope I don’t injure anyone in my soulless state. I can’t believe I did this. I’m so sorry.

As of this post, the submission period has ended. Any submission before this point will count for the competition.

Judging will take between 1-3 days, during which point, there will be no "real" contest for you guys, as I can't update the activity thread until I have the results from this competition.

It will take that long because I have two other judges who need to read all these stories, as well as me. It will take us time to come to a decision.

Scoring will go as such, we will count up all the submissions, and give points based on personal placement.

For example, if there are 20 entries, the top entry will get 20 points from me, the second will get 19, the third 18, and the last, 1. Once all entries have a score, I will total up the points from all the judges (max score of 60), and give the entries placement based on the highest aggregate score.

Good luck to all who submitted an entry.

At this time, I will announce a mini competition that will be good for a few bonus points, to give you something to do, while this is in processing.

The Tour de Vizzed is on, and as much as I loathe the TDV, it has given me the ability to give you something to do for the next few days.

So here's how this will go down, if you want, you can compete in the TDV over the days of the judging. If it's one day of judging, it's one day of competition, if it's three days, then it is three.

For every 5 points you score in the TDV between now and the end of the judging period, you will earn your cabin 10 bonus points to be applied to your score.

For example, if you score 20 points between now and the end of the judging period, you will gain 40 bonus points for your cabin! This may seem like a lot of points, but the early days of the TDV are competitive, so everyone will be trying to compete with you.

You can get points by either posting a lot in quantity, posting a lot of words, or doing site staff type work.

So that's all! Good luck in this mini-competition.

It's sad that only me and tgags were able to submit our stories on time.

Well, I am competiting in the TdV, maybe I can get us 30 points for the cabin and if
tgags123 : Will help out we can get even more.

The other cabins have ZeroTails and Zlinqx who are also competing today, so It'll be a challenge to get those points.

Dang. I my wifi was off more so than not the past week and I completely forgot about submitting my story. I'm sorry about that everyone. Hopefully my wifi is consistently on so I can contribute more (it's been working for a couple of days now without nay problems, which is good).

Barathemos : I don't know how much help I am going to be. Competing in the TdV sounded like a good idea a few weeks ago but now I'm not really feeling it.

barathemos and tgags are really carrying us...

I apologize for the lack of an update post, and for lack of a submission. The last update was later in the day last time, and I was actually mid-post when I saw leggy had ended it. An assumption on my part I shouldn't have made.

As for this current week's competition, we get the opportunity to shoot out ideas for the next one! I'm thinking some sort of RGR challenge, since the plugin can record for people using mednafen, it's something everyone can do. Any ideas?

I apologize for the double post, but you guys should know about this as well. I recently started my online summer course that I need to get into the school of engineering at my university (which completely slipped my mind when I signed up for this), so my activity will decline a lot. I'm sorry for any inconveniences this may cause (if any), but I thought I'd let you guys know in case I am absent for a long while or don't participate in an event. As for my co-captain status, if anyone else who is more active wants it, I'm willing to give my position to them.

I'm extending the deadline on this contest for another 24ish hours.

This contest will end on July 11th, 11:59 PM EST.

You all have until then to submit any last submissions.

Oh help! I must think of something... D:

What about drawing a comic, and the comic needs three pictures with a meme in it?
Or creating an imaginary language that can be translated into our language?
Something RGR related... recording a battle where you beat gym leader Falkner in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal?

I don't have any other ideas at the moment, but I hope this can help us out

Oh wait I know something!

You say something RGR speedrun/highschore related? There's this GBA game called Lady Sia that records the time it takes you to finish the level, a good and simple challenge could be to complete that level as fast as possible.

mrfe : You need to submit our ideas so I hope you can do that as fast as possible, and hopefully you have some ideas as well.

tgags123 :
Barathemos :
SadSecrets :
megamanmaniac :

Any ideas? If you won't make it in time or have no ideas then that's okay too.

Also, we could do a layout competition: Who can make the best layout?
We could also do some kind of puzzle game, where Leggy gives all of us three cryptograms or other puzzles and we can see who is the first team to solve all three correctly.

I haven't yet gathered the submissions. I've been really busy the past two days.

If you submit something in the next hour or so, I'll count it, but just this once, since the deadline is already pushed back a full day.
