Hamha! Sometimes gaming gets a bit glum. Whether it's a game where a character you like died, you got a bad ending, or maybe you just felt ripped off. What we need is a happy game in our lives every now and then. If you've ever thought that; then Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak is just the game for you! With it's cute characters, cheerful settings, and it's Vas-T amount of Hamchats. Good thing there's the Trust-T Hamchat dictionary to let you keep track of them all...

Graphics: 9/10

These are some Bestest (Fantastic) graphics! Goodgo (Good luck) on finding a game that has such cute, and high detail on the GBA as this one does. (Want me to stop the Ham-Chats? Fiiiiiiiiine....) The hamsters look cute and mostly unique. The worlds are both generic in location, but they're done so fantastically that it's forgivable! The grasslands give way to a mountain (Read: hill), the haunted house is 2spooky4me, FunLand and the beach have a lot of nice, and interesting visuals to them also. It, just like the Hamtaro series, is cute and charming. It's atmospheric, you feel as tiny as the Hamsters do, and little bits here and there show that these big places may not be as huge and vast as they seem to you.  You'll most likely fall in love with each location. And the Hamsters are fantastic as well. :3

Sound: 10/10

There's some great bits of music in this game. My personal favorites are the Spat's theme, Sunny Peak, and Boo Manor. This game's music is amazing! Like, I was NOT expecting music this good to come from a kiddy hamster puzzle game. It's simply amazing.
There are some nice little sound effects to actions also. Like for using Ham-chats, climbing, collecting sunflower seeds, or even *gasp* collecting rocks! Although the one that plays for when you say "Hamha!" (hello) is the one I remember the most. Although that may just be because it will play before them menu comes up.

Depth: 8/10

This game has an impressive amount of depth to it. Enough to give DK 64 a run for its money.
You wouldn't expect a kiddy game to require you to search every nook and tunnel in every level for jewels and rocks to RubRub, or finding keys to doors in other levels, learning Hamchats and backtracking all the way back to help one more Hamster, and things like that. Indeed, you and Bijou will be quite the busy Ham-Hams in this game. There is also a lot of music to unlock, dress-up things to find or buy, and making Ham-Jams. All of this is lovingly thrown on top of the already big task that is your main quest. Rescue all the loves! That's...Not a typo or grammatical mistake on my part. The Story section will elaborate farther. Overall, this has a lot more depth than the target audience would care for. But any older siblings will greatly appreciate it.

Addictiveness: 7/10

This game has a few things that will keep you coming back. It's charm, it's humor, that rockin' soundtrack even. But the longer I put it on hold, the longer it took to get me back around to playing it. It's not the most addictive game out there, but once you play, you'll be hooked to it for quite some time. YOU NEVER WANT TO STOP!!!  It's just a lot of fun to go through if you like adventure games. Or maybe just Visual Novels...This game is a mishmash of a collection, adventure, RPG, visual novel, and all wrapped under one of the only good licensed games.

Story: 8/10

The story here is a pretty unique one. A bit forgettable at times, but still unique nonetheless. There is no princess that needs saving, no aliens to blow up, no unstoppable evil, no existentialism, and no political commentary. Refreshing isn't it?
Hamtaro takes a nap, and has a dream. In the dream; a hamster wearing a devil costume breaks up everyone's friendships/love. Causing fights and bitterness everywhere. He wakes up to find it wasn't just a dream, it was really happening! Luckily, a hamster wearing an angel costume comes around to explain. Harmony, her name, is looking for Spat, who has been causing trouble. He likes to destroy love and friendship. Seeing as how he's began to do so, she gives Hamtaro a love meter, and tasks him to save love, and get everybody on talking terms again! Luckily he has plenty of friends to help him along the way! (Well, assuming they don't need his help first.)
Now, doesn't THAT sound like a story you've heard a thousand times? No-P! In this game, you're fixing friendships, and bringing love back between arguing friends and couples. All while being totally oblivious to Bijou and the crush she has on you though.

Difficulty: 5/10

This game isn't all that hard. This isn't a game full of baddies to kill, stomp, maim, or otherwise cause an end to. Instead, there is a hamster or two doing their own thing. They all have their own problems, and it's your job to help them! You use words collected in your HamChat Dictionary as both actions, and ways to communicate with them. Getting a certain word can be the key to fixing a relationship, and getting more love back into the Love Meter. You can use words like DigDig (Dig), or Hamlift (Piggyback) to reach new areas. And by extension, more Ham-Hams and potential Ham-chats.
The minigames are fun to play, and are mildly challenging as well. Like the ones on the beach I remember needing a guide, and pure practice to finish.
The controls, however; are incredibly simple and responsive. It uses the control pad (Or whatever if you use the RGR), A talks to hamsters, and selects. If you hold down B you can run, which looks adorable by the way. x3 Run widdle hamsters, run!...I mean, it's really useful, and you can get places about 10 times quicker.

This is a game that can be enjoyed by anyone. A lot of people played this as a kid, and have nostalgia for it. I, however, only knew about this game for 8 months.  It's a great game, although its radically different because of the whole "no enemies" bit. It's a simple game, if you're into games like Animal Crossing, I'd recommend this one. This is also a good game if you're feeling blue. As it's cheerfulness, optimism, and cuteness can put a smile onto anyone's face.

Well this certainly sounds like a refreshing break from the ordinary. I especially like the concept of no fights or enemies at all, as it seems that we often forget that video games don't have to be chock full of violence in order to be fun (not going to lie though: I do enjoy violent games sometimes). It sounds like this game showcases the lighter side of gaming, and that alone wins it my respect.

As for the review, you did a great job here, User. But I guess that's why they gave you a staff role as a reviewer in the first place isn't it? Keep up the good work, man!

User...

No.

Good review in all but

8.5?

That makes no sense.

This game is, without a doubt, a 10/10.

You've got to rethink this lol.

But yeah, good review.

This sounds like an awesome game . Like, a game I could just pick up and enjoy. In fact, I just want to play it right now . Too bad I'm a bit busy at the moment... oh well, I'll get it it in the summer XD.

The review is also great . You explained everything that I needed to know. Now I know why you are Staff .

No enemies? Well, I was getting tired of enemies. :V Bring on the loves!

Barathemos : 8.5 is a pretty good rating. At least, on my standards <.<. 10 is nearly impossible, especially with how I rate things.

Barathemos : Bara, if not all the scores are 10 (Except difficulty ofc) Then giving it a 10/10 is just wrong.
