I am first going to start off by saying, this game is actually the first Final Fantasy game I beat. Though it was the the Dawn of Souls version, it was the origins version which was much harder. But I have beaten both the Origins and the Dawn of Souls version. I am also changing the way I do my review to see how it comes out. If it is bad, I will go back to the original. Now without further a do, let us get started.

For a classic Final Fantasy game, you have to admit that the graphics were stepped up massively in this version. Even though it is old and still is 2d, that does not matter. Upgrading is key in the overall score. When I first played it the graphics looked pretty good. It was brighter, had more textures, and the towns looked way more detailed. This truly is one of the biggest factors in making a remake of a game.

The sound in this game could have been better but you have to admit, it is pretty good. Listening to that menu music for the first time put a smile on my face. The fact that they added a different music track for the menu is amazing. The music in town is also very good and you can tell how much better all of the music is. The boss music is much more intense as well. Another sound quality is how good the attacks sound in this version. It actually sounds really good and satisfying when you land a hit.

This game is pretty addicting. I just wanted to throw that out there. In this version there is an extra dungeon in Final Fantasy I, but in order to stand a chance you need to get to the max level, which is not that hard at all. As a matter of fact you level up quickly in this version of the game. Which makes you want to play it even more to get there quickly.

The story could have been better. Even for a 1987 game, the classic had a decent story. The Dawn of Souls version added things to spice up the story, like a intro to the game, better dialogue, and more dialogue at that. Other than that theres not much more to say about the story. Same with Final Fantasy II

The depth in this game for its time in huge. You have a beastiary for both games to fill out, you have the extra dungeon, you have the max level that most players want to get to, new items to collect, and many more things. All in all, this game will make you want to come back for more.

The gameplay is actually your standard rpg experience. You kill monsters to level up. Rest at an inn to restore your HP and MP, use potions to restore HP on the go, and Cottages to restore both HP and MP on the go. Other than that it is pretty standard. When it comes to Final Fantasy II, the leveling system is much different. You get stat increases by playing. There is not Exp, just stat increases. Lets say you get hit and lose 30 out of 40 of your HP. Once the battle is over your HP will increase. I personally think this is cool. But that is just my opinion.

The last category will have to be the difficulty. This game is extremely easy because of the sole fact of how fast you level up. And if you are playing the vizzed version of the game, you can hold down the space bar to speed it up. I do not remember if you can speed the game up on the Game boy Advanced, but you can on vizzed. All in all, this game is pretty easy. Final Fantasy II on the other hand is kind of difficult if you do not keep getting your stats up. Just grind your stats and you will be fine.

Well guys it is at the end of the review so I will give my verdict on the game. My overall is 8.8 Because the remake could have been better. If they had waited a couple years, maybe it would have been, but oh well. It is a very good game overall.

I think you did a decent job with this review. We may disagree on Final Fantasy II's battle system, but I respect your opinion. It would've been nice to hear an explanation on why you think it's cool though. Other than that, I think you did a good job.

Pretty good job on the review for the most part. As gamerforlife stated, I think it would be a good idea for you to elaborate a bit more and perhaps go into greater detail with explaining the good and bad points of the game.

Organization wise, your review was nicely spaced out and easy to read. Maybe you could consider putting the category and score heading at the beginning of each summary like this:

Graphics: 8

------

It's just a suggestion though, and it isn't really needed. I just think it adds a nice touch to the review.

Overall, you articulated your main points pretty well, and you had a good amount of depth throughout your review also.  All I would really focus on is your explanations of the good/bad points of the game. From there, everything else will come naturally. Nice job.

NOW we're talking! This is by far your best review so far. You finally gave it more details, it's well-organized and you give an good overview. Slight caveat: it's only an overview. You could have given a few more details about both games since they are quite different in their story and their gameplay.

18mlivingston : Well, if you get either a Play station Vita or PS3 you can download origins, and all the other Final Fantasy games. On the vita though they have Final Fantasy III and IV remastered so it is not the same. The others though are the remakes for play station. Unless you meant the classic and original Final Fantasy games, it really sucks how they are hard to find.
