The next RGR Plugin release will have the latest version of Mednafen which is a big deal and that release will probably be available in beta form within the next 24-48 hours. After the staff have thoroughly tested it, it'll be available to everyone 24-48 hours after that.

For those who don't know, here are the Mednafen systems:
Mednafen required systems include: Atari Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket (and color), WonderSwan (and color), Virtual Boy, Turbo Grafx, Turby Grafx CD, SueprGrafx, PC-FX, Game Gear, Master System and Playstation. Optional systems include: GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES and Genesis.


Anyways, my question is, which of the following features do you think should be accessible? We can assign these features to various keys and key combos (I don't know what all of these things mean or do but you could probably look it up on the mednafen site):

-Save state (currently assigned to F2)
-Load state (currently assigned to F4)

-Save movie (movie that can only play in emulator)
-Load movie

If there was a way to toggle between all save states, that could be assigned to F3 (to make saving and loading various states a bit easier). Fast forward could be the spacebar like it is with the GBA games. If I think anything else could be added I'll edit it into the post, but for now those are two things that I think could be used as mednafen improvements.

This is exciting news! I won't be able to use it yet, but I'm really looking forward to trying it.

Now to list features I think are important:

-Take Screen Snapshot
-Toggle Fullscreen mode (shocked to see this as an option)
-Fast Forward (Slow Forward would be cool, but not too important)
-Rewind (I've used this in emulators before, and it's unbelievably useful for cheating death, if you don't mind cheating. lol)

-Insert/Eject disk/disc. (Crucial)
-Configure buttons on 1-8
-Reset
-Power Toggle
-Detect Analog (important again, and surprised again)
-Cheat console
-Toggle cheats
-Toggle help screen (We're bound to forget what commands to use for each of these actions. lol)
Not sure what the last one means, so I can't say there.


Hopefully that isn't too much to list.

Just want to point out that full-screen mode is currently alt+enter and not shift+enter as you have it listed.

I'm not so sure about updating Mednafen's features (aside from generally updating it to the latest version) (current Plugin is built on 0.9.27-wip & newest is 0.9.37.1), but out of those options, I'd recommend these:
-Fast-forward
-Reset (is already available, but has broken code [because clicking it causes the start button, or enter key, when pressed to reset the game])

Edit: the key in the version of Mednafen which the current Plugin is built on for soft reset would be F10, and hard reset F11, but I mean the reset button on the plugin frame is broken for Mednafen systems currently in the RGR.

These are what I think should be added:

-Take screen snapshot (currently assigned to F6)

Well, since I've not been able to use the PSX, I don't have much experience with Mednafen so as to say what it needs to be added. Maybe the full-screen mode is the only thing I can find a use for, and the extra save files can be a nice addition too. Only hoping that the latest update puts a lesser strain on my computer to see if finally those PSX games can run normally.

megamanmaniac : I believe you can toggle between save states. What if you pressed F3 + the number save state slot that you want to switch to?

Eirinn : Keep in mind that some of those are already available in the current plugin such as toggling full screen.

EX Palen : Playstation is not the only Mednafen system, a ton of the systems on the site are supported by it. The latest update would fix problems with PSX so hopefully they fix your problems.

Here's a list of options I've told Tom to add and what keys to add them to:
-The Reset button for Mednafen is apparently broken. I'd like that fixed.
-For changing save state slots, I was thinking F3 + the save slot number you want to switch to (example, F3+2)
-Fast-forward could be assigned to Spacebar since that's what we have it doing for VBA
-For Slow-Forward we could maybe do Alt+Spacebar (assuming it doesn't interfere with speed up)
-For Toggle state rewind functionality we could do F5
-For Rewind we could do Backspace
-For save movie we can do F7+Enter
-For load movie we can do F7+Shift
-For changing movie slot we could do F7 + the slot numb er(example, F7+1)
-Toggle graphics layer we could do F11 + the layer number (example, F7+1)
-Toggle cheat console could be F12
-F12 + Enter could enable cheats
-F12 + Shift could disable cheats
(these cheats would have to be disabled and not accessible while in timetrial mode)

The following could just be assigned to buttons which I'd display depending on the system:
-Insert coin
-Toggle DIP switch view
-Select disk/disc
-Insert/Eject disk/disc
-Activate barcode(for Famicom)
-Grab input
-Grab input and disable commands

It really depends on what the problem is. Now, something that really does tick me off, is mouth sounds. You know, chewing sounds, slurping, etc. It is very annoying to me, but I usually don't show my anger. I also have OCD, so anything that isn't in order, I have to fix it. /Have to/ fix it.
