I just watched the end of the NFC championship game.  It's too bad the Packers don't get their offense on the field to counter.  It's like playing the top half of 10th inning unless they don't score.

Do you prefer NFL or college overtime?

If it were up to me, I wouldn't go with either one. I don't like the idea of how college football is all crazy. It's kind of difficult for me to understand.
The NFL's idea I like. I like how they changed to a touchdown wins, but a FG gives the other team a chance.

But, if I could change the rules, I would change it to a full 15 minute quarter, and play it all out. Play out the entire 15 minutes. If it is still tied at the end, then play another 15 minute quarter, and do another coin flip to start it off.

That is how I think it should be done.

For those who are not aware of the college version of overtime:

Both teams get the ball, one at a time, from the 25 yard line.  Each team gets one time out, there's a playclock, and they play out the possession.  The team that scores more points wins.  It's like a top and bottom inning of baseball.  Both offenses get a crack at the end zones.  There's no kick off, no muss or fuss, just get the ball on the 25 and go.

They flip a coin to see who picks offense or defense.  Unlike pro football, college football teams want to go on defense first to give themselves the advantage.

But the point is both offenses get to play before overtime is over.

I don't really like the way football overtimes work, I would agree with just letting the 15 minutes to down. The coach of my high school used a Field Goal shootout to determine overtime winners.

I prefer the NFL overtime though I like how if the team that gets the ball first gets a field goal the other team gets a chance to tie or win. However I'd like to see them change the touchdown rule from being an automatic win to giving the other team a chance to tie. I'm not a big fan of the NCAA overtime rules to me it's way too short.

I know when it comes to overtime in either the NFL or NCAA, it really doesn't matter to my point of view, but I do like on how the NFL overtime plays out.
Going into overtime is really going into "Sudden Death" for both teams because they are tied and just like what happened in the NFC Championship, under Sudden Death, 1 touchdown in Overtime, the game is over, and the Seahawks ended up winning the championship and moved onto the Super Bowl.
