So today I went in to class and our teacher got us something called google classroom. Google classroom is a place where we can post our essays and other homework/work then she can comment in it and give us our grade right there. Also, if you do not remember something about an assignment you can ask on there and a classmate can answer back before it's due.

Singelli :

Asking you because I know you are a teacher.

Woohoo! I loved getting summoned to thinks like this.

So what exactly are you asking me?

I've never heard oft this before, but I've used google documents as a way for kids to do homework.  It sounds like a forum board.... And I used to run one of those for my classes as well.

Have you looked at it to see what it looks like?

Singelli : Ya it sort of is a forum board except a lot less topics.

I am asking you if you have ever made one for your students.

It also sounds like an easier way for emailing stuff to teachers and kids.

And yes I have seen what it looks like. link to the site. https://classroom.google.com

I have never heard of this one specifically, but I have seen my teachers use many different services similar to that.

My school started using Google Classrooms this year. In the first week of school, my bio teacher taught the class how to use it, and we spent the entire class period having fun with it. Then in September, my history teacher had us use Google Classroom for a few assignments. Then I haven't used it since :V Honestly, I find Google Classroom as easy to use, and it's easy to hand in assignments through there.

I've never heard of Google classrooms before you posted about it, but it doesn't surprise me.  There are tons of websites that offer features like these, and my coworkers are always trying to get me signed up.  I actually don't like them, most of the time. To me, it just seems like using a virtual classroom adds soooooo much more work than is necessary.  While I understand it's convenient for the kids, when I'm teaching, I already have lots of favors in place for them.  Keeping Remind101, my forum board, the electronic grade book, Khan Academy exercises, AND a virtual classroom up-to-date?  No thank you!  I don't understand how teachers have the time for it all.

(Then again, most teachers I know nowadays use pre-written assignments and tests, and don't grade papers in very helpful ways.  There's nothing wrong with using pre-written material, but I think many teachers rely too heavily on random resources, without actually evaluating if the assignments are a good fit for their classes.  If every kid in the class is going to make an easy A, it's probably not a good assignment / test.)

We have Google Classroom ready for setup. We have used other things in the past, but I feel that Google Classroom might be nice to use. It seems fun, and it's Google!
