As your know or not Mega Man 25 anniversary game was Mega Man Street Fighter
but Capcom don't make this game is a fan game
the Real Mega Man anniversary game was Rock Man Xover a game for IOS and Android Systems
there are some details that make this game don't merit called mega man

1. At the first look of the menu you notice a social networks buttons at this some thing stars to smells bad, the other bad thing in this game is the chip system (like Mega Man Battle Network) but are really bad designs there only the wikia enemy images also you have to buy it


2. One of the most IMPORTANT thing of Mega Man games is the Great game play
extensive stages with a lot of ways secrets and obstacles and What that make for the anniversary they make a game Completely flat levels , without any platform's, pits or obstacles, the stages back grounds are repetitive and the enemies are the same in all the levels
3. The most important game of the Mega Man games is the difficulty level but  in this game the game play is virtually don't existent you can skip the boss battles and set auto-play in levels because all the levels are virtually the same

some people say Mega Man X7 open the pit but this game seal Mega Man tomb but the fans still playing his original and greatest games for the retro consoles Mega  Man will not die

But I forgive something...... and is the whole number of cancelled games

This was to be a sort of bizarre 3-D remake of traditional side-scrolling Mega Man with some gratuitous pixilated 8-bit 2-D elements thrown in. However, it got nixed, and I’m not sure Capcom will ever resurrect it

This one was announced, marketed, and then canceled

I didn't really play too much of the classic Megaman games, especially considering how much I suck at old games. However, I love how the stages in each of series, none of them are the same. The boss battles, while rather simplistic, were very well done. But Capcom just had to abandon one of their most beloved franchises, I mean look at what they've done to Resident Evil. But I sincerely hope that Mighty No.9 is everything that Kenji Inafune wants it to be, and the spiritual successor that Megaman fans deserve to have.

Now a response to what you said about this Rockman Xover game. This game must incredibly boring to play if the stages all the same and skip levels. However, the worse thing is that you can autoplay the game. I mean why play the game if you're not actually playing the game? This game sounds less like a Megaman and more like a poorly done browser game. In fact from what you said it sounds like the developers of this game never actually played the megaman games. Instead they looked up pictures of locations and characters throughout the series, and read some articles at the megaman wikia.

I wouldn't call him dead, but I do hope he comes back soon. I don't understand why Mighty No. 9 isn't a Mega Man game, I find it stupid that they're not just releasing it as a new game in the franchise. I'd also like to see a new battle network or starforce game.

If Capcom would make another Mega Man game then the series wouldn't be dead but if they cancel any more games like that one that was planned for the 3ds then the series will remain dead.

Capcom is making increasingly worse and worse decisions. Like they did with Street Fighter V when they took down all of the you-tubers reaction to the trailers of the game, along with the assets which they were given, by Capcom themselves. With more and more of these mistakes, they will be a long lost company which will suffer to the F2P model and the more modern models of gaming today.

thelochias : I think that they've got some steam left before they decend into freemium games. Resident evil and mega man are still quite popular franchises. I think they could make a comeback if they play their cards right. And that's a big if.

Sure, we haven't really heard about a Mega Man game since 2010, so it is quite overdue for a game release, sure, Capcom only released Mega Man games for Nintendo consoles until the mid 1990's where Capcom decided to switch their game series from Nintendo to PlayStation, but then later switch back and be able to release in both games. And look at it, Mega Man is also one of the fighters in the recent Smash series as well, so he has been remember though.

I think that Capcom will release another Mega Man game hopefully sometime in the near future, that will be great if they do release one, like I said, it's long overdue for a release.

Dark sword Z : I agree with you treacherous levels and awesome gameplay is a trademark of megaman. And I would not say that he is dead, after all, he did get into the latest super smash bros after all these years!

Capcom has made a mockery out of Mega Man, pure and simple, and it's sad. They keep saying "oh we are going to do something amazing with Mega Man" and they turned around and released a statue, or an XBLA avatar. That's not what fans want. They want a new game, either Mega Man Legends 3, or a new platformer. At this point, I'd rather them give Mega Man away,  sell it, give it to a developer that cares, there are plenty of small/medium developers that could pick it up, and put effort, creativity, and bring back the fun that the Mega Man series had at one time. It's one of the many reasons I am sick of Capcom, and this is coming from someone that loved Capcom back in the SNES/Genesis days.

Megaman's creator, Inafune, has abandoned ship a while ago. It's kind of hard to make another Megaman when the guy who makes the Megamans has flown the coop.

That and Capcom has always adapted marketing practices similar to Activision here. Anything less than AAA is thrown into the shovelware pit, and right now, the "winning horse" is Street Fighter.
