The MLB The Show franchise has always been one of my favorite video game franchises. They are, without a doubt, the best sports game franchise ever. It isn't even close. MLB The Show is like Disney - always a cut above the rest. The main reason I got a PS3 in the first place was because of MLB The Show. The MLB The Show games are just absolutely fantastic, and MLB 14: The Show is no different.

Graphics (10):

MLB 14 The Show has the best graphics of any video game I have ever played, hands down. Everything looks so realistic! I was playing it at my grandma and grandpa's house once and my grandpa thought it was a real baseball game, not just a video game. They put detail into everything. You can easily tell which player is who just by looking at them. They look just like their real life self. The stadiums look fantastic. Very realistic. If you took a picture of Yankee Stadium and matched it up with Yankee Stadium in the game, you would hardly be able to tell the difference. Even the fans in the stands are detailed. To give you an idea of just how much effort was put into the game, almost every player in the game has a customized swing based on how there swing looks in real life. The same thing applies to pitchers and their deliveries. If that is not the definition of caring about detail, I don't know what is. The graphics in MLB 14 The Show are phenomenal, and that is why I rated them a perfect 10 out of 10.

Sound (10):

There was just as much effort put into the sound as there was put into the graphics. I can say that MLB 14 The Show easily has the best commentary than any other sports game. They have a lot more phrases than most. Even though I have spent countless hours playing this game, they still come up with new phrases every now and then. In NHL 14, for example, I could name just about every comment that the announcers make after only playing the game for a week or two. That is not the case in MLB 14 The Show. There is always something fresh coming out of the announcers mouth, and that is important in my opinion. The sound effects in this game are top notch as well. The music is ok, but it is not the best. You can add your own music though, so that isn't a big deal. I gave MLB 14 The Show a 10 in the sound category and it definitely deserves that rating.

Addictiveness (9):

MLB 14 The Show is definitely addictive. It will keep you playing for quite a while once you start playing. There are more addictive games out there, but if you play Road to the Show, you will definitely become addicted to this game. Road to the Show is one of the most addictive game modes of any game ever, next to Hockey Ultimate Team in NHL 14. MLB 14 The Show may not have you glued to the TV, but I guarantee you that it is a game that you will always come back to. How likely am I to play this game again? Extremely likely. I rated this game a 9 in the addictiveness category, because while it may not get you hooked at first, you will always end up coming back to it.

Story (N/A):

It is a sports game. You play baseball. There is no story. Sorry.

Depth (9):

There is a lot that you can do in MLB 14 The Show. First, you can always just play an exhibition game. There is no "end" to it, it is something that you can literally keep playing as many times as you want, because every time you play it is something different. There are also other game modes that you can play. These game modes include (but are not limited to) Diamond Dynasty, Road to the Show, Franchise mode, Season mode, Home Run Derby, Challenge of the Week, and Online games. There are other modes that you can play as well. Diamond Dynasty is like MLB The Show's version of an Ultimate Team. It is very complicated and while it is similar to Ultimate Team, it is different at the same time. The players have limited careers and you need to keep training other players. Road to the Show is MLB The Show's version of Be a Pro. You control one player. You start in the minors and you have to try to work your way up to the majors and, eventually, the Hall of Fame. In Franchise mode, you run a team. You are basically the GM. You can trade players, sign free agents, re-sign players, etc. You also get to play the games. Home Run Derby is exactly what it's name implies. Challenge of the Week is when you control a hitter. You have 3 outs to try to score as many points as you can. You score points by hitting the ball. Different hits result in different amounts of points. There are a lot of other game modes that you can play as well. There is a ton of different things that you can do in MLB 14 The Show.

Difficulty (7):

Like most sports games, there are different difficulties that you can choose from. Rookie is really easy, even my brother does well on it. As you get harder, the game gets harder. I would say that Rookie is like a 3 on the difficulty scale, and it goes all the way up to 10 and you get higher. So it can be an easy game or a hard game, it really depends on what difficulty you play on. I decided to rate it a 7, because that is what I consider the ideal difficulty rating. Since this game has multiple different difficulties, though, it is perfect for both casual gamers and hardcore gamers.

In short, MLB 14 The Show is a great game. The graphics and sound are absolutely fantastic, and everything is well detailed. It is pretty addictive, and has a lot to do. It is perfect for all kinds of gamers. It is definitely worth a buy.

Wow. You have been a MACHINE in reviews as of late, haven't you? Great job on the reviewing of a game like MLB The Show. Another game that is hard to review since there's no real "plot point" and it is a sports game as well. Fantastic job, man.

pacman1755 : I don't know if I would say machine, I have really only written 3 or four recently.

Thanks. And as much as I hate reviewing games with no plot, most of my reviews are of games with no plot lol.

Whetsit Tuya : Nope, you can't play current generation games on Vizzed. Especially PS3 games. You can only review it or make walkthroughs of it.
