I'm not positive as to what my first game was, but the way I recall it, my addiction started with Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I remember how I used to ask my dad to get me to the "Beetle World" (after beating the game, you can play through with those beetle things replacing the Koopas, as I recall). I stood no chance at it, but I thought it was cool because it changed the normal game. Then SMB 2 came out, and I played it quiet a bit, but nothing compared to when I got my hands on SMB 3. I was terribly addicted to that one.

Other titles that contributed to my addiction beginning were Pro Wrestling (the two player mode) and The Legend of Zelda. Also to a much lesser extent, Gauntlet and Duck Hunt. Good times.

The first video game that I owned was Cars on the GBA. I got the system from my grandparents for Christmas, and I remember spending a lot of time finding all the secrets, and getting really good at it.
The first game that really got me addicted to gaming however, was the GBA port of Super Mario World. It took me over a year to beat the whole thing, because it was basically the first time I've ever played a platformer. I wouldn't go more than a few days of not playing it. And once I did finally beat it, I spent another 10 hours or so trying to get all the Yoshi coins and secret exits. I didn't get 100% until just about a year ago though, when I decided to pick it up again.

zerothesaint :   Nothing wrong with PONG!  I've been playing a little bit of that recently with my boys, its a nice simple game that never seems to get old!

johnsonhan4500 : The DS?  That's one system that I actually don't own!  (Never seen one in my price range yet.)  But I have a friend that has one, and he absolutely loves it.

Kanturu :   What was your first system  Any games you were particularly fond of?

Halleck :   Playstation 2 was a great system, its my fourth favorite system of all time (Right behind the Xbox 360, NES, and SNES)  I remember playing Kingdom Hearts.  I personally wasn't a huge fan of the game, but my wife enjoyed it, and I have a friend who OBSESSED over it.

Sorinkum:  An old Famicom?  I'm impressed!  The original Mario brothers?  That was a lot of fun!  I was also a fan of the Double Dragon series, they were pretty good games.

Eirinn : Super Mario Brothers was among my early games on the NES as well.  I lost entire days of my childhood to that game!  I agree that Super Mario Brothers 2 was fun as well, and I really think that Super Mario Brothers 3 was the best of the entire series (Including the new stuff.)

The Legend of Zelda is one of my top 10 games EVER, I never get tired of that game and still drag it out for an afternoon from time to time!

I'm also a fan of the Gauntlet series, the first two were really great party games!  I remember having a house full of friends, passing the controller to the next guy whenever someone died until they got so tangled that we had to stop for several precious minutes to try untangling the cords enough that we could play again!

patar4097 :   To this day, I think the Gameboy Advance is the best hand held system, hands down.  I've never played the Cars game, but I enjoyed Super Mario World back when I played it!

Lots of great gaming memories everyone!  Keep them coming!

My family has got a lot of video gaming consoles by the time I have started playing video games and my gaming addiction started on my 7th birthday on April 27th, 2000, during that time my brother had a PS1 and he wanted to know if I wanted to try out playing video games (because prior to this, I was playing toys like those Hotwheels toys and what not), and when I was looking, I seen Spyro the Dragon and I wanted to play this game and then after I did, I just exploded with playing video games and that's all I have done since then, play video games.

The games I have mostly got into is the Action/Adventure and also the Platformer games and some sports games as well.
To the console I officially owned (Which was the PlayStation 2) which was the console has more games that I owned than any other consoles my family owns.

So yeah, Spyro the Dragon for the PlayStation 1 got me started in playing video games and to this day, I'm still going strong with video games.

I first got addicted to video games before I could even play. When I was four and under, my brother would be playing a game,  and give me a controller that wasn't plugged up to the system, and I was none the wiser. But, my first game I was ever addicted to was Goldeneye. I just loved using paint balls against big heads. My brother had all the cheats, so I never had to worry about dying, until I was s3even and I tried to beat the game that is. I got stuck after Statue. But we had a Genesis, Xbox, two PSX's, a PS2, Gamecube,  a Dreamcast two Gameboys, and I had an Advance. Sonic Adventure, and the first two Sonic's were my first game addiction in which I actually tried to beat the game, but I only could on Adventure.

Well, it started when I was about two, and my mom actually never wanted me to even be introduced to video games in the first place. But, my grandmother had an old Nintendo 64. Well, I saw it and asked what it was. I don't remember exactly what she said, but I ended up playing Pilot Wings 64, and I was hooked. She also had Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, an SNES with quite a few games, and when I was about five, my grandfather decided to buy me a Gamecube. Of course, it all went from there, and my life was changed by it. But, my mom still isn't happy about the whole thing. That's my story.

I remember when I was younger I would go over to my Grandmas house a lot. One day I went into my cousins room and found him playing a snes. I was captivated by it. It amazed me to actually see someone able to control what was happening on the T.V screen which was a new experience to me back than. I sat there and watched my cousin play for hours until it was time to go. I was never allowed to touch it though in fear that I would break it. I asked my mom to get me one but my mom never had enough money for one. Every time I would go to my Grandmas I would sit in my cousins room and watch him play. A couple weeks after I first saw my cousin play christmas time came. My cousin got a Gamecube so he gave his snes to me. I played my snes continuously for months only stopping to eat, sleep, and go to school. The first games I got for snes where Super mario bros, and super metroid (I think)

Mine started with Pokémon. It was back when the Game Boy Advance SP was still popular, and you could actually buy the system new at your local stores. I remember my friend playing the games all the time on his old Game Boy Advance, and I used to love all the Pokémon. I even made a fake Game Boy Advance to try and mimic the games that my friend had. I would draw the system, and draw Pokémon and pretend that they would level up and everything. Then, on my birthday (this was like six months after I realized how much I liked the games), I got a GBA SP and Pokémon Firered. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was. It was one of the happiest days of my life. I cherished that game, and the system, and I slowly became more into video games from then on. We got a PS2 on Christmas of that same year, and I ended up getting Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, and Destroy All Humans, and I liked video games even more. Now, I have a bunch of games across a multitude of platforms, and I really just cannot stop playing them.

In 2003 The GBA SP introduced me to my first FF game, FFTA, and I've loved a lot of Square Enix games especially the FF series a lot since then. Also I got a Gamecube soon after with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle which fueled my love for nintendo games and I've become a Mario, Sonic, Zelda, and donkey kong fan ever since. SA2B might actually be my favorite game I've ever played, even including the MMO's I've played on PC.
