Introduction
Hello reader and readers. Thanks for checking out my latest review for Amy Rose in Sonic three and Knuckles. In case you been following my reviews lately, I been playing and writing about a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog hacks as of late. So far I've played both Sally Acorn in Sonic the Hedgehog one and Sally Acorn in Sonic the Hedgehog two. I later wrote two reviews for her. I'm a huge supporter of her so I had to throw my favorite Sonic princess her dues. I later moved on to Sonic the hedgehog two heroes hack than on to Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog in both one and two. I told I been a busy Sonic player as of late steady trying to build a library hack Sega.

Now finally after weeks of game play and video uploads of Sonic's want to be girlfriend, Amy Rose in Sonic three and Knuckles; I can finally muster up some more motivation for this game review. It's a game that kind of beat me down in many ways good and bad. I suppose I deserve it. I went head first into this game blind and as the game intensity rose from later levels, the more my patience was tested. What possibly saved me a few insanity point's is the fact Amy Rose brought a few tricks to the table that would have other wise made this a nightmare with basic Sonic, but sometimes there were points where Amy lacked abilities needed that could have just broke my game all together.
Lets get started shall we?

Depth
Does it have depth? Does it ever! This is Sonic the Hedgehog three and Sonic and Knuckles mashed together with the fusion of the super emeralds. You have six intense stages from the first half of Sonic the Hedgehog three and you have seven more even intense stages from the second half of Sonic three and Knuckles and each act is pretty long with many obstacles to over come, which means you are in for a longer rider than you would from previous Sonic games.

Want even more out the game? Try your hand at the chaos emeralds. They can get a pitch annoying with each one you collect, but for the most part it's pretty simple once you get the patterns down. Collect them all and once you head into the second half of the game at Mushroom Hill Zone, you'll be able to enter the Hidden Palace where your chaos emeralds are taken for a shot at competing for the super emeralds. Collect all seven of these and you'll be able to unlock Hyper form which is the more powerful form only exclusive to this game. If you are a die hard Sonic the Hedgehog fan, this game is worth every penny.
I give the depth a 10 out of 10

Difficulty
If there was ever a Sonic game that made me just want to quit all together, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles was it, but in a good way. It was pretty harsh most of the time depending on which levels and acts you were playing. Intense should be a good thing right? Depends on whom you are asking. Just pointing this out, I never was a super pro at games. I'm just a guy whom never knows how to quit on something I really want to achieve. I'm the type whom would mess you up in beat em ups like Super Smash Bro's or run you clean into on going traffic during Mario Kart. Pretty much anything that doesn't take a lot of thinking, so? Sonic games are pretty much out of my element. If you watch my videos on the page, you could tell where points in the game that I struggled and the fact I'm too cautious times for a game that's suppose to be about speed, but I manage sooner or later from try after try.

You can tell back in 1994 Sega went all out for this as this was a huge step up from Sonic the Hedgehog one and Sonic the Hedgehog two, because things are not so straight forward anymore as they use to be and like I said already, each act is pretty long. Decent into Sandoplis Zone act two, where the stage takes about ten minutes to complete it's self and if the time doesn't kill you, better not allow the lights to go out or Doomsday Zone, where it's a race against time once again to take out Egg man and get the master emerald back. The only thing's that pretty much saved my hide at times was super from, Amy Rose's super high jump and oddly Tails. Yes Tails! The hackers were quick to put a sprite hack together, but they didn't think about what the character needed in order to move on with in a stage and this isn't the first time, because this issue happens in Sonic the Hedgehog two during Hill Top Zone.? Amy can't spin dash! You need spin dash, because there is going to come a point where she has got to break though the floor. Your only saving grace will be Tails, because he can spin dash and he mimics your movements. Without him, your hard work just flat out comes to an end, so don't solo.

Let's not forget the chaos emeralds and even more powerful super emeralds. The chaos emeralds can be somewhat a challenge, but they are pretty simple once you understand them. It's the super emeralds that will make you pull your hair out! Truth be told, I needed a little bit of help with save state after making it to Mushroom Hill Zone. I was burned out from the previous chaos emerald run and I just wanted to move on. I hate it, but If you love puzzles, you should have fun on the super emerald run. More red, less blue and now a now added yellow jump spring, which means you are forced to think even more this time around. Good luck if you want to unlock hyper form!
I give the difficulty a 8 out of 10.

Addictiveness
As the Sonic X theme said, "Gotta go fast! Gotta go faster!" As I said once before, It's a Sonic game. Addictiveness is what a classic Sonic do! If you love speed and just barely escaping death, I strongly suggest you give this game a try. Or in this case, if you love a good game of whack-a-mole, Amy Rose is a pretty close second. Amy, doesn't run as fast as Sonic does, but shes got a few tricks, such as jumping three times higher and downward smashing that make her just fun to play as regular Sonic. I will say the creators did kinda go insane with this game and made this feel more like a task which can somewhat take your mind off the fun element of the game, but that shouldn't stop you. There is a good chance, simple things will mess you up at first and other times it might make you want to throw your controller, but it can hook you and make you pick the controller right back up again. It might not be as addictive at first, but once you become a pro in some form, than you might not want to stop.
I give the addictiveness a 8 out of 10

Story
Classic Sonic game where you must stop Egg Man from collecting all the chaos emeralds and powering up his death egg machine, so he can't destroy the world and kill everyone it in. This type of plot at this period isn't milked dry.....YET, but it's Sega and years down the road it's going to be. Sega is good with game development, but are not too big on mixing things up.

Anyway, this story picks up after the events of Sonic the Hedgehog two where Egg man crash lands on Angel Island. Egg Man meets Knuckles and learns of the Master Emerald that's keeping the island afloat. Worried of Sonic and Tails coming after him, he suckers Knuckles into thinking hes the good guy. Knuckles is a pretty naive character so you can guess it was easy.

This however is a Amy Rose hack, so the story most likely goes, after the events of Sonic two, she returns home to find Sonic and tells him of the progress she made. Amy soon than makes a pass at sonic by flirting and holding on to his arm. As she day dreams about being alone with him, Sonic quickly dashes off to escape her and track down Egg Man, mistakenly leaving Tails behind. Amy, frustrated at Sonic blowing off her advances, quickly grabs Tails, whom was about to go catch up with Sonic and forces him to help her track down and defeat Egg Man first before he does. Sonic trying to get away from Amy and just now realizing, he wouldn't be able to get to Angel Island by foot, heads back to find, Amy, Tails and the Tornado[the name of the plane] were already gone. Amy thinking it would be a breeze since she controls the chaos emeralds from the events of the Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog two hack, arrives at Angel Island where she is ambushed by Knuckles and has them stolen from her. The story than heads on from there.
If that scenario sort of sounds good to you, it might be because I write fictional stories for a living as I plan to be a published writer one day soon. Very over reactive imagination lol.
I give the story a 9 out of 10.

Graphics
The graphics are solid and surpass that of previous game sonic the Hedgehog two. This was at a point in time where games, were starting step up and see how much more further they could go in terms of detail. As a matter fact in terms of detail, this game beats both the previous Sonic one and two hacks, because this time around everything is not pinkish. It looks exactly the way it was meant to look when it's not a hack and Amy blends in pretty nicely herself almost if she was always apart of the game.
I give the graphics a 10 out of 10.

Sound
This particular Sonic the Hedgehog 3 had a twist to it. The king of pop himself, Michael Jackson, once helped compose some of the music for this game! If you didn't know, it was most likely do to all he likes little boy issue's that were surrounding him at this time, so his involvement was removed from the game. That story was most likely not true because of sources say Jackson wasn't happy with how the tracks he worked on sounded. Some tracks share certain beats used from some of Jackson's music such as Carnival Night Zone being mixed with "Jam", Ice Cap Zone mixed with "Hard Times" and the ending credits using "Stranger in Moscow". It's a really great sound track, and sound effects for the game are not lacking at all. Rest in Peace King of Pop.
I give the sound a 10 out of 10.

Overall
I gave the game a 9 over all. It's an amazing game, amazing sound, amazing graphics and amazing hack and while it is an amazing game, I told myself never again after super long game play and super stressful levels. I should not be stressed out in a video game, but that's just me I suppose. However, if there was a way the site some how managed to get a hold of a hack of Sally Acorn in Sonic 3 and and Knuckles, I might be tempted to change my mind *wink* *wink*. The hack it self is not bad at all, but it needed development in certain area's where Amy could not spin dash. If Tails was not apart of this game and was able to spin dash himself, this hack would have been a complete fail.
Thanks to those for reading my review of this game and please remember to rate.
