Beautiful Katamari is an Xbox 360 exclusive title that was made alongside Katamari Forever for the PS3. I'll get to that game in a later review.

Made by famed developer Namco, Beautiful Katamari is a whirlwind of fun and zany hilarity.

Graphics - 7/10

Beautiful Katamari has visually improved dramatically since Katamari Damacy, the PS2 predecessor.

The game has a very cartoony and funny looking art style, which goes hand in hand with the off the wall gameplay and inconceivably rediculous story.

The terrifying amount of detail in every item in the game is because of the "starting small" approach the game took.

The only thing that doesn't have detail to it is the people, which look hideously weird. It takes away from the game's realism, but considering how its a game about rolling up Japanese items, people, and land masses, you shouldn't find much of a problem with it.

It isn't visually impressive, but it looks pretty darn good, and at some times, it can even be beautiful. The amount of detail is great, but lacks in a few aspects.

Sound - 9/10

This game is just... Japanese, in every aspect, you can only describe it as Japanese, so in the view of Sound, the game does a spectacular job at providing a great soundtrack. Featuring original songs and incredibly upbeat j-pop music, the music will always get you in the mood for rolling up Japanese families and hurling them into space.

The theme song is one of the most catchy and amusing themes of any game I've played. It's essentially just one voice humming, but the tune it hums is the song of the angels.

Katamari on the Rocks will always be a staple in video game soundtracks, and the rest of the music in this game will remain in history as one of the best ever.

The sound effects are nothing short of zany and hilarious, with a simple "tiock" type sound when you roll something up, and featuring the sound the thing you just rolled up makes. It's really neat to hear, because of the absolute chaos you cause is worth hearing, especially the final screams your victims let out as they get destroyed by your super adhesive ball of evil, for justice.

The voice acting, isn't really voice acting, it's record scratches that signify speech. It's incredibly strange to hear, but it becomes enjoyable. You can skip over it if it gets irritating, which it could for some.

The sound in this game is a marvel, and it is definitely something you would always want to hear.

Addictiveness - 9/10

This game, like all other games in the series, is something you will never want to put down. There is endless joy to rolling things up. If the story weren't so short and there was more to do, it would be incredible.

I can turn on my Xbox, look through my digital games, and see this. I'd click it on instinct and play through it. I have lots of other games to play, and for some reason, Katamari and its games take the top place above everything when I see them.

It may be casual fun, but it's a lot of fun that you will always want to play.

Depth - 3/10:

This game's map starts out small, like your character, but it expands as you get bigger, and you can travel the world. It's awesome to see progression work like that.

There's also different characters, called cousins, that you can roll up in every level, and presents containing accessories you can give them. It's a very cool concept , but I wish there was a character creation section.

My main complaints about this game are about the depth. There's little to no variation in maps, a few different types of levels, such as temperature raising and collecting certain items, but there is very few of them.

The campaign lasts around 3 hours at best. If it were a lot longer, this game would be a lot better, but given the incredibly low map variations, low selection in game types , and pathetic length of story, this game scores low in terms of depth.

Story - 7/10

You are the Prince of the Cosmos, and your father, King of all Cosmos, was playing tennis one day, and he suddenly threw an incredibly powerful shot, ripping a black hole in the universe, sucking up all of the stars and planets into it. Being as pompus and sassy as he is, he sends you on a mission to make the sky pretty again, restoring the stars and planets, and clogging the black hole. Seeing Earth as a place full of things, he sends you there to roll up all of the things on Earth with your Katamari, a super adhesive ball that rolls up all items its size.

The King is the only one who speaks throughout the game, and he has funny dialog with hilarious one liners and generally witty sayings and phrases throughout the game.

The story may not last long, but it's a beautiful addition to the whackyness and overall strange ideas and style that the game has.

Difficulty: 8/10

I hold difficulty in a game to be important, but not overly.

In nearly every level in Beautiful Katamari, you're given a size that you must achieve in a certain length of time.

This can prove to be difficult at times, as constraints can be tight.

Some will fail a few times and eventually get it, but when you fail, it doesn't give you that feeling of rage that you get from losing other games, it just gives you a feeling that you really want to beat it.

If you don't win, your father plays pool with your body and katamari pool balls. Terrifying.

The game can be difficult at times, but it isn't a hassling difficulty, more or less a good kind, that makes you want to keep trying.

Side notes

The translating is poor in gameplay, with everything in the HUD translated to English, but the things in the game are all in Japanese. Can't blame them, it adds realism to a game that can never be conceived of as a rational thought.

This game makes mass murder and total planetary destruction into a joyride full of peaceful and upbeat music with the goal of saving the universe. The game maintains an E10+ rating, as there's only fantasy violence, with police officers having guns and shooting you. This has no effect.

Nice review here man, I think you did a good job and you have a very unique style of grading your review, Overall I think you broke down the review nicely and you went into a great amount of depth with each part of the review. I have never played the game so I can't really judge it accurately, but your scores look pretty promising to me.

Overall I think this is a very solid review and you did a good job with it, you have an extensive vocabulary and I think you have a very definitive and bold way of presenting your review. Nice job man, keep up the great work and keep making more great reviews!

Razor-987 : Thanks a lot man, leggy thought of the grading system, I more or less used his way to for my own taste.

I hope to make many more after this since it got me in the "groove" for making them.
