I can only read english.......(and French if i remember the what words they are) and also speak english.

I can speak English and a little bit of Japanese, and Latin. That's pretty much it though.

I can read English, Dutch, French (not THAT much), Latin (just a tiny bit) and I can 'understand' some German. 

I only speak English, Dutch and a little bit of French though.

English and some Spanish.  I can't do much, but I do know a good amount about English.

I can speak English. Je parle francais aussi. I can read both French and English. My French isn't perfect, though.

Only English...I am pure English. So just english. Nothing to say.

I read German and English. 

I can read English, a bit of Japanese, a bit of Chinese, and a little Spanish and German. I can understand a bit of Japanese and a bit of Spanish too, and I'm learning Chinese at school.

Currently I'm learning how to speak and read Spanish but it's terrible, basically that's the only language (besides English) I can actually read.

I can speak and read Spanish pretty easily. I can recognize certain Chinese symbols and I can recognize numbers and letters. I can also read a it of German. But as far as speaking goes, I can only speak Spanish fluently, I am in Spanish 3 and I have a 97 in it, is easy to understand and I can read stuff with ease.

I think that I will take up French next because it is similar in many ways and yet it is similarly pronounced because I am not sure on taking up ap Spanish. I think Spanish 3 is far enough and I will just go French 1 and 2 when I am a junior and senior. So that is my plan for languages.

But I can read Spanish, and Chinese a little. Good thread question by the way.

The only language that I can read is english.

I am taking German, and I just picked up on some Arabic.

English (if you couldn't already tell) and some Spanish. I took Spanish classes in Middle & High School but I dropped it after my sophomore year.

I must say that I am very slightly confused.  LOL Your thread title asks what languages we can READ, but your original post asks what languages we can SPEAK.

Um... guess I can answer both?

I can read and speak English.  (Der.  lol)
I can 'speak' sign language, but can't really read it.
I can 'read' Spanish very well, but can't really listen to a native speaker and understand them.  I can speak a little, but not enough to hold conversations.


It's extremely interesting to me that it's possible for the brain to 'read' a language but not speak it.... The brain works in such fascinating ways, and an observation of speaking versus reading really helps one to understand the difference between giving feedback or actually creating something and being innovative.

I don't think I could ever read one of those artistic language like Chinese or Japanese. (The crazy characters, I mean.)  It amazes me that even the native speakers learn it. XD

I can read both French and English. I'm not as good at speaking French though. I don't usually need to do it.

Aside from English, I can do a little bit of Spanish, a lot of Italian and French, and because of high school, I am fluent in Shakespearen.
