You know, In my opinion, Platforming games just come and go! Some platformer games go on to make endless sequels and such, While most other platformers just end up tripping on their own shoelaces and end up getting long lost and forgotten, However! This game I am reviewing today is an exception of that rule! As this game has actually gotten a plenty of sequels AND has been recieved welly be the critics, What Is this game you ask guys? Well guys, You are about to find out! This Is Sly Cooper and the thevious racconus for the Playstation 2!

Story-8/10
Sly cooper and the thevious raccoonus follows the adventures of three animals, We have sly cooper, a racoon with a knack for theiving and stealing, We have murray the turtle, A turtle with a huge and powerful brain, And we have murray the hippopotamus, A big hippo with alot of strength! But anyways, We are focusing on sly here, We learn that when sly was a kid, His dad leaves him to protect a precious book called the thevious raccoonus! This Is a book that teaches the reader how to become a master thief! But that Is not the case here, On the night Sly Is supposed to "Inherit" The book, Five evil doers known as the "Fiendish Five" Have wandered into sly's house unwanted! They then tear the book up into five seperate sections! It Is now up to you to help sly and his crew get back the book and stop the fiendish five!

Gameplay-8/10
Sly cooper and the thevious raccoonus is a 3D platforming game with a huge emphasis on stealth, sneaking, and most importantly, Platforming! But anyways, In this game, you take the role of sly cooper, a young raccoon with a huge thing for stealing sneaking and scrawling through everywhere! As him, you will have to guide the thief through more then 5 big worlds! The controls are simple, You use the left analog stick to move, You use the X button to jump, You use the O button to interact, You use the Square button to swing your cane, And you use the triangle button to use any power-ups! Each of the game's worlds are connected by a HUB, Here you can access all your missions and play any previous ones you have completed! Each level Is crazier after the last, and will require some fierce sneakiness and stealth to conquer. So of course after saying those few words, I will say It here, The game Is a mixture between standard platforming and Stealth like Metal gear! Sly himself Is armed with tons of moves and abilities at His disposal to take out the bad guys, and they are as followed! You have his basic cane which can whack enemies in a single Hit, You have the decoy which can be used to fool enemies, You have the slow down and speed up powers which can be used to slow down time and speed everything up, and so on! Sly will be collecting tons of goodies in his journey, Such as bottles which then can be used to open up the safe in each level and then grant you a new power, Coins which will reward you lives hit points and such, extra lives which will be used to give you an extra chance to continue the game, and so on! At the end of each level, Sly will have to fight a powerful and fearsome boss fight which takes alot of strategy and skill to complete! And these guys include Sir raliegh the frog, Muggshot the bulldog, Panda King, and so on! Lastly, there are many types of levels to overcome In your quest, There are the standard platforming levels where you try to get Sly from the beginning of the level to the end In one piece, You have these levels where you command some sort of vehicle and shoot everything In your path, Racing levels where you help His friend murray win a car race In order to win a key, and That Is pretty much It! Anyways, That Is It for the gameplay!

Graphics-9/10
This game was made way early inthe Playstation 2's life span, Once again, 2002! And In my opinion, This has got to be one of the best looking platformers I have ever played on layed my eyes on in all my gaming experince! The game's graphics are done with cel-shading, which has been a staple in most cartoony platformer games Of this era, And once again, It looks outstanding! The game makes you feel that you are in a comic book/Mystery world, and It really does so! Each world after the last Is filled with, color, atomosphere, flair, and so on! But one thing though about the game Is that there are barely any bright levels! Each level Is very dark, gloomy, yet they offer so much to do! Now for the characters, We have Sly racoon, We have his two friends murray the hippo and bentley the turtle, We have the fiendish five which consists of Raleigh the frog, Muggshot the bulldog, Mz ruby the crocodile, Panda king, And last but not least, Clockerk, a robotic owl who has shown total hatred for sly and the cooper clan! The HUD In the game Is pretty self explanatory, It shows you your lives, your amount of coins, and cool other stuff!

Sound-8/10
Once again, This game has many high points to It, and the sound Is definitely one of them! The game's soundtrack has forever been glued In my head since I was a little kid, And It still Is today! Each level after the last has jazzy, catchy, and overall smooth music that really makes you feel that you are a master thief on a huge mission! The most prime example however Is muggshot's level, It really makes you feel unstoppable! Now for the sound effects, well, They are what you come to expect from a cartoony platformer of this era, But That Is now problem! As they are really really good, You have your jump sound effect, You have your cane swing sound effect, You have your coin sound effect, and all sorts of other cool stuff! Lastly, the voice acting, And boy Is It good! We have kevin miller as Sly, Matt olsen as the voice of Murray (Matt even stated in a interview that He really looks like the character!) And we have Chris murphy as the big yet lovable Murray. Anyways, That Is It for the sound! Sly sounds like your typical wise guy with alot of tricks up His sleeve, Bentley sounds like your typical geeky tech nerd that still Is good with computers, And murray sounds like your typical lazy big yet in the end lovable oaf, Anyways, That Is It for the sound!

Addictivness-9/10
The game offers quite alot of fun and challenge and everything else to be had within the big adventure, and here Is what I mean! The game's overall mixture between stealth and platforming has forever been a hallmark In my book, And second, It Is just controlling sly! Sly Is a very agile sneaky and quiet chill dude that really knows what He Is doing, and That Is a huge plus when It comes to making the protagonist of a game! Oh yeah, Lastly, It Is just completing a certain level or boss you think you can't do! Some levels and bosses in this game have had me die many times before winning the actual thing, And Just beating the actual Level/Boss really makes you feel rewarded for all your patience and effort!

Depth-9/10
Besides Jak and daxter, and ratchet and clank, I have always seen sly as one of the more lengthier and bigger games of the two, And here Is why! Well to start off, This game Is actually pretty short! The game only consists of 5 worlds, and that Is very little, So you can probably beat this game In about 2-3 hours, and second, Each level after the last has alot of stuff to do and collect and do! There are bottles that you can collect which will then let you open a safe which will FINALLY let you unlock a new power, and after doing that, There Is then a time trial where you must speed through the whole level In under the alotted time, Finishing then unlocks some bonus level commentary which you can listen to WHILE playing the level! It Is indeed amazing!

Difficulty-7/10
This Is one of those games where sometimes the game Is nice and easy on you In the earlier sections of the game, And then In the later sections of the game, It starts getting mind numblingly difficult! This Is no exception! This game actually gave me quite alot of trouble! The first reason Is the health system, You can only take about 2 or so hits before you are knocked out! This actually reminds of of crash bandicoot's aku aku masks! And some of those bosses can have you waste a few lives before winning, But It Is SCEA! So what to expect? So that Is why I rated the difficulty as It Is.

I will be honest with you guys here, The first time I played this game, I thought It was going to be some lame uninspired platforming game for SCEA to make money off of, But what we got Is actually a really cute charming and fun little platformer that really gives you reasons to play It! I gave this game an 8.2 because It Is fun, original, challenging, and Really good! Sure It Isn't a long game by any sorts, But It Is worht a buy!
