Yeah so everyone's probably seen the AVGN review of this game and I bet some of you think ok that's his character it's not that bad. Well rest assured it is gosh darn terrible. This is will be half review and the other half what I went through the game I hated (nearly everything).

Ok so first let me get the positive out of the way, when you die as Jekyll, you turn into Hyde and of course if you reach the point of where Jekyll died Hyde gets struck by lightning too and dies too and the game is over. That's not the positive (aside from maybe at the game over screen you have the sense to throw this game out the window). The good thing is as Hyde you get to kill some real enemies and with the Psycho wave attack or the punching which is only good if you miss with the wave (which is easier because the pattern sucks and misses half the time).

Now for the wall text of negatives. Ok first off Jerkyll walks to damn slow while other characters can run while Jekyll has no running ability whatsoever. This wouldn't be a big problem if when the characters charge at you you could easily get of the way which you can't. And worst of all when the guy who sets the bombs 100 times per stage sets one near you (get hit direct and it takes all your life) the blast radius is very wide so you need to run away but of course you can't with this awful walking speed you have to do a very specific move set to avoid and hope no one knocks you back into the blast.

The next worst thing is the staff, of course you knew this but the weapon does not a thing to anything but the little bees which makes you completely vulnerable as Jekyll. And to hit the bee you can't just hit around it like the enemies hit you no no you have to hit the bee dead on or else it misses. There's also a fat singing lady with nearly unavoidable notes that hit you that only stops if you pick up coins as Hyde and then give them to her. But it's not that easy either because you have to go right up to her to pay her off so you are gonna get hit on the way and she doesn't replenish your health after you pay her either. You my as well try your luck and jump over the hag since you are that close.

Now this part is the worst part and you didn't see it in the AVGN review because he had the sense to turn it off after a while of getting smashed by bad controls and unspeakable music and gameplay. When you get to the street level of the game (6 levels) you will notice that the bomb guys are back in full force and of course come anywhere near them and they blast you into death. Not only do they walk near you but it's even harder to avoid them then the other ones. But the real problem comes from the rolling barrels down the street. They come in irregular nearly unavoidable patterns (because of bad controls and timing) and they continue to hit you even after they hit you once and push you back. Why all of a sudden am I playing mario vs donkey kong in this awful game. Not only that but you have to deal with all the stupid bomb guys at the same time who keep walking close to you and often will have to avoid the barrels and bombs at the same time which is impossible. And this is no short street oh no this street goes on forever and to top it off there's two fat singing ladies in the level to put yet another obstacle in front of you.

So unfortunately I suffered through all this and more to get the ending which I screenshotted so I would never have to play it ever again. And of course you get a completely mediocre ending for all your hard work with a bad game. If you get the normal ending screen it somehow is even more crappy if you could believe so try not to break everything if you get that one.

Bottom line this is a horrible game I wish I didn't play it I was warned by members and James Rolfe not to do it, I have a headache from playing it. The gameplay is horrible so is the story and music and if you ask about replay value i'll laugh on your face. Stay away I only did this for a challenge and it was just not worth it and I need to take an asparin afterwards.

Pretty nice review, pretty good, and I do have to say, I haven't really played this game, but after I was watching that video from AVGN and also seeing some reviews on this game I can say that it's a good thing, to me, I wouldn't like this game nether.

Anyways, nice review, all worded, the only thing that's missing is describing all of the ratings (Overall, Graphics, Sound, Addictiveness, Depth, Story, & Difficulty).

The story is apparently a boy named billy pones has a crush on Jekyll's Fiancee to which he is trying to go his wedding to marry her. Yep that's it that's the story and no the stuff that happens in the game besides the ending makes no sense why all this is happening to a slow walking guy going to his wedding and walking instead of getting a cab at that.

Graphics : 7

For a NES game the graphics aren't that bad you can generally tell what everything is meant to be so if there is a bright spot in this dirty toilet bowel of a game it's that.

Gameplay : As Hyde 3/ As Jekyll 0

As I said when you are Hyde it actually feels like a game although still a bad one, as Hyde it's just horrible and you can;t kill anything and everyone wants you dead.

Sound : 2

The same crappy music plays over and over and it just makes the game all the more unbearable

Addictiveness : 0

No redeem ability about this game at all

Difficulty : 9

Due to bad controls, unfair enemies, no weapon as Jekyll and getting auto scrolled as Hyde.

I am at least glad that you are honest about your opinion on the game though. In the very least honesty and your true opinion on the game really matter so I am glad you did that.  I am glad you actually played it yourself to see if it was worth playing or not instead of just going off of what other people think perhaps. So I give you credit for that.

After seeing Angry Video Game Nerds review I always wanted to try this but never did. Now that you have brought the game up and reminded me I may have to try it. It really does sound infuriating. I will have to watch his review again. Thanks for the reminder.
