Cliche review title aside, this game is really awesome. It is a game hack of Final Fantasy 6 but 20% cooler now that it has ponies as it's cast. Now, while I haven't completed this game, or even played the original game, I can safely say that this game is faithful to the source material based on what little I know.
My Little Pony has hit the nation and is a surprise hit mostly among the male population since the female population doesn't have as much of a reason to feel conflicted with liking ponies. Gender typing aside, My Little Pony as a rom hack is just about the coolest thing in existence. I haven't played the original Final Fantasy having never grown up with a SNES. I don't want to play the original and couldn't stick with it when I tried.
The game isn't too hard if you know what you are doing and know your basic RPG gameplay. This has a gameplay slightly similar to Chrono Trigger, meaning that you must wait for your turn. Forgive the horrific slander on actual RPG terms. I am not up to date and don't know what it is called.
The game has Pony sprites. It can be somewhat jarring to see Twilight Sparkle stand on two hooves like a human, but the maker did what he could given the circumstances.
I am not a judge on sound or music because I like it all. Music helps with the gameplay and enjoyment. The more addicting the music is, the more I have fun.
The story of the game is basically Final Fantasy 6 but with a more Pony friendly theme. Equestria or where ever is huge just like the source material. Lines of dialogue have been changed to fit the show. Memes are also added and depending on how annoyed you are with certain kinds, it may or may not add to your likability.
If you found the original FF6 engaging and addicting, then you will love this game.
The game is roughly the same. I haven't gotten that far, at most during the second half of he game, but there might be certain things in the game that happen differently simply because a different character is saying it compared to the original.
I am highly addicted to anything remotely to do with Ponies. The fact that this caused a reluctant Final Fantasy fan to play, makes a huge difference. The hack is subject to minor glitches so that might ruin your experience depending.
I give this game a 9.8... I would have giving it higher, but I haven't fully completed the game and find it somewhat unfair to give it a perfect if I didn't give it a full play through. Give this game a chance if you are a newly converted brony, a vetren one, or simply bored out of your mind and simply want something to do to kill an hour or so.
