So this'll be a short review. This, my friends, is Pong. Being the first video game, Pong was released as an arcade game in 1972. I know you guys think the Atari 2600 was the first to come, but no. Twas Pong that was first. To just say this, this game barely offers anything. I mean, this was created in 1972, so I guess I can't blame them. But.....let the review begin.  (Don't ask why I decided to review this game...well I just decided to make a short review to see what happens)


Story: 0/10

This is Pong. There is no story here. In the olden days, the story line to video games weren't that great, but this was five years before the Atari 2600, so no story here, unfortunately. There's really nothing to say here, so I guess we'll move on to the next category. 

Graphics: 1/10

The graphics in this game are pretty explanatory. As seen in the pictures for the title above, it's basically a black screen with white lines. This is pretty much all there is to it. It's weird how in just five years, the graphics could get so advanced. I'm not saying the Atari 2600 had advanced graphics, I'm just saying that compared to Pong, Atari games are stunning like a field of roses. We're off to a GREAT start. These ratings I'm giving aren't very good if I do say so myself. 

Sound: 8/10

I know it may sound weird that I rated sound an eight. But I actually like the sound effect that the game makes when the ball hits one of the white lines. It sounds pretty nostalgic. But however this is the only sound effect in the entire game. And I'm making it sound like this is like Banjo Kazooie (Big game to explore). There isn't really much more to say here about this...

Replay-ability: 6/10

Okay, I can admit that this game is kinda addicting. It gets boring most of the time to play, but when you play it at first, it doesn't seem so bad. It's not great, but it's not bad. It's an okay game. Sometimes it's REALLY addicting, but not really that often does that happen. Again, nothing really much to say here.

Depth: 3/10

Normally this is the longest category in all of my reviews, but now I can't really say much. I mean, it's Pong we're talking about. There isn't much depth to this 'world of Pong.' There's just a couple black lines, and you hit a ball back and forth. That is all there is to this game. I'm dead serious. Well, let's get to the last two categories for this short review.

Difficulty: 8/10

Now, this game can be kinda difficult at first glance. If you're playing with a keyboard, it can be tricky. If you're playing with a Logitech controller, it can still be hard. If you're playing with an Atari controller or Nintendo Entertainment System controller, it's pretty easy. Funny because those two consoles came out around the age of Pong. If you play it a little while, the game will actually be pretty easy. Of course, arcade games are never easy.

Overall: 4/10

Yeah, this game isn't all that great. I wouldn't rate it a zero or a one, but this game is still fun to play if you're bored. It may have godawful graphics, and just be balancing a ball, but it can still be a little bit of fun at first glance. Thank you guys for reading this review for the arcade game of Pong. Pretty good review here for such a simple game, did you find it hard to come up with stuff to say about this game? Anyways, it is a nice, solid review for a game that came out a long time ago and it is so simple. But nevertheless, excellent job reviewing it. I know the graphics are extremely simple but it is one of the first games so I guess that is why some of the scores are so low. Even though this is an impressive review (I'd have a hard time coming up with stuff to say about a game as simplistic as Pong), the graphics would have easily made a rating of 7 for me. There wasn't really a standard at the time Pong was made, so what was on the screen looked good.

I personally agree with his rating, I probably would rate it similar. I do think that Pong does deserve a certain amount of respect in that it was one of the first video games, but to be honest, I really do not think it was that great of a game. I personally think that there are so many other games that I would play before Pong if I was bored and had nothing to do. To me, it simply would not be entertaining to play. It was fun to read a review on such a classic game. Few reviews are done on oldies like this. Thanks for your time put into it and the review itself!

Good review, although I will say that I think you were a little hard on this game. Realizing that this game is a port of a game that was developed in 1972.

Sure there isn't much to the game...but considering it was one of the first playable arcade games I think that it deserves a little more respect than a 4/10 review personally but we are all entitled to our own opinions.

Pong is legendary in its own right. Yeah, it wasn't too flashy back in the day, but nothing was. We had simple games made with the simplest graphics. It's the ancestor of all gaming ever.
