I choose Super Nintendo over the Sega anytime. Nintendo has better games than Sega does. Has Sega ever made a Mario game? No!!! Because Sega doesn't know anything about a good game. Mario has been around longer than the Sega I believe. I doubt the Sega could come close to having better games than the Super Nintendo. Not even in their dreams could they be better than the Super Nintendo

Awesome-Kid : *cracks knuckles* this old fight huh. For me its the Super Nintendo, now don't get me wrong the Genesis is a classic and I can't deny that but the SNES forfills my needs far better then that, my needs are RPG's I love RPG's and I love the ones on the Super Nintendo, now Phantasy Star I will admit was good but when you compare that to Earthbound or Terranigma yeah kinda hard to compare the two sides. Though I admit their controllers feels slighty better in the hands so there is that at least .

The Sega genesis and super Nintendo were both fun and different. The super Nintendo had a lot good games and interesting controllers. The genesis lack a lot of these features, but it had a great line of games to play. So I suggest super Nintendo as great console play then the Sega genesis to anybody who's plays video games.

I like a lot more games on SNES and I don't really like the way music sounds on Genesis.

Awesome-Kid : I definitely have to say super nintendo because that system has so many incredible games such as Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Final fantasy IV and VI (or II and III as they were really known as on the super nintendo), Super Metroid, Earthbound, and Chrono trigger (which happens to be my favorite video game of all time.) as well as many other fantastic games while the Genesis has many sonic games and Phantasy Star IV. I'll pick more masterpieces than less.

Awesome-Kid : SNES matches me more. It has great Nostalgia games such as Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3. The SNES has better soundtracks in my opinion. It's a great console!

I chose the SEGA Genesis, but I'll actually admit that it's because I'm biased.

BilboSwaggins :

gamerforlifeforever2 :

Shinning Force, Desert Strike, Road Rash, Phantasy Star, Crusader of Centy, Vectorman, Ecco the Dolphin, Toe Jam and Earl, Haunting staring Polterguy, Ristar, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Rocket Knight Adventure, just to name a few Genesis classics ; )

PokePal435 : Sega was around well before Mario. If you are saying Nintendo makes better games now, I guess I could agree because the people behind Sega right now are pooping out alot of not so great titles but they do put out a true gem but in Sega's heyday no one was putting out titles like them. No Sega couldn't make Mario, they were way too busy making tons of better platformers at the time. Sega could match anything Nintendo could put out (the other way around too).

While they're both notable for relevance at the time of their release, the Super Nintendo definitely impacted video games as a whole a lot more than the Genesis ever did. It also had a much wider variety of great games, whereas the Genesis, let's face it, didn't have a huge amount of greats.

taterii : I have to total disagree about the Super Nintendo having a wider variety over Genesis. Sega put out more niche titles than Nintendo would dare to release. Its a matter of opinion on what console had the better titles but Genesis had a leg up on divers games.

What I have gathered from talking to people is that Sega had better fighting games and sports games. SNES on the other hand dominated in RPGs and Platformers. I would say that The SNES has about 8-12 games that I would rank higher than any Sega game. (My top games being PSIV, Sonic 2, Shining Force 2, Gunstar Heroes)
But to me, off the top of my head...

Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Final Fantasy 3/6
DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Chrono Trigger
Mega Man X
Earthbound

... are all better than Sega's best game. Once again that's just my opinion...

GenesisJunkie : I suppose that Nintendo was safer with the games that they released, but in the end I believe that it benefited them for not taking the risk, because a niche title does not equal a good title.I think Nintendo's games have stood the test of time much better. But this is just my opinion. However, many critics would agree. Also, what do you mean by a leg up on divers games? I don't understand what you're saying.
