I was a little scared that people would use it for fun and being a troll etc. This ''disables'' the chance for doing that.

I like it more than before but I still don't really like it, well yeah, everyone has there own opinion.

why did you remove the feature originally?
you say disliking a post does the opposite, does that mean the person rated loses vizz and contribution points?
it is a nice idea but it remains to be seen whether people actually rate based on post quality.

Why is everyone going all "crazy" over the dislikes? I mean seriously are you saying your that hypercritical about it? Oh come on, so what if someone doesn't like your post don't get upset about them disliking it, whether it be for bad grammar or whatever their problem is with it. Heck I think I'll be more likely to hand out dislikes due to the fact there are some people who just post regardless of quality, heck check some review replies, those are riddled with spam that isn't classed as spam.

TornadoMudkip : I highly doubt it will reduce abuse, he said it would limit how many times you can do the action for Contribution Points and viz, but not in-fact how many times you can actually do it. I highly doubt someone who would intend to abuse this system as a way of flame or trolling would care about their CP, or even to an extent their TP.

thenumberone : I seriously hope not, considering the fact it would make trolls or flamers more likely to use it as a way to give someone grief, I personally wouldn't mind the Viz part, but the Contribution Points would just be un-justifiable as many people have earned their CP legitimately.

play4fun : It didn't show up for me at first, I cleared my cookies and it seemed to work then, it could fix it but I don't really know if it will.

Anyway as I said, if your going to go all hypercritical about your "post ranking" then just take a chill pill... it probably will be abused at some point, sort of like TP attacks. After all it is just another pointless stat.

The great thing about this feature is that it'll make users think twice before making crappy posts and before being rude. It'll also encourage users to want to go out of their way to help others and it also offers users a way to reward those who help them out. I think that overall, this feature will help increase the post quality on the site and will also increase the number of users who are willing to help out others.

I do have a few additional ideas for this feature:
Post Hiding: If a post has a certain number of dislikes, it automatically hides by default
Thread Highlighting: If a thread has a certain number of total likes, on the forum pages that thread will stick out as a way to show that the thread contains a lot of quality posts


Tails the Fox : This new feature will serve a lot of purposes.

megamanmaniac : I wanted to get it implemented before this month started for the CP VCS.

Divine Aurora : The receiver will gain a minimum of 3 CP and 50 Viz, I will more than likely make adjustments to those numbers as time goes on.

Barathemos : Users who make a habit of making bad posts or post with a low quality should be held accountable in some way and this new system is a perfect way to force users to face consequences for their posting habits.

MoblinGardens : It'll be abused for sure but everything can be abused on this site. I'm sure I'll be making adjustments to it in no time.

thing1 : Well it looked odd to have the 'Like or Dislike' links to the very bottom left but to have the very bottom right bare so I put that there. Plus a lot of users may not notice that they can reply to a specific post so this will increase the chances of users replying to specific posts.

Elpizo : The staff will be able to detect if a certain user is constantly down rating a specific user's posts all the time and if that happens, actions will be taken. I've made an advanced logging system which helps the staff track down every action.

thenumberone : The original feature kinda sucked and I actually had someone make it for me many years ago. When you rated someone's post, it didn't actually show that the post was rated, it simply just added a thumbs up or a thumbs down to the user's overall stats. The old feature also had no limits and had no way for the staff to track who is rating. This new feature has so much more to it.

iN008 : It's not really a pointless stat and I wouldn't really call it a stat, I'd call it more of a "measurement" of post quality and user helpfulness.

So I am told that I have "a habit of making bad posts or post with a low quality" from the owner. That makes me feel warm inside.

David, if a mod finds out that someone has benn disliking all of one users posts to troll them, would those dislikes be taken away so that the number goes back to what it should be?

In a way it can be used for constructive criticism. If your posts are constantly getting down rated, hopefully it will act as some sort of motivation to work harder with every post.

I am also wondering what kind of punishment will be handed out for the obtaining too many dislikes on your posts.

earthwarrior : Embarrassment? I'm sure we'll come up with something as time goes on. Maybe users with a low post rank get a little less Viz per a post and users with a higher post rank get a little more Viz per a post?

Being able to control users will help a lot to prevent problems. Hopefully, This system will help to correct users and their way to act.

So I noticed that the forums have been implemented with a Rating column to show threads that have ratings on the posts. Will there be a rating column in the 'New Posts' section as well? It would be interesting to see ratings there without having to go back to the original forum.

There was one thing that I forget to do with this feature, I forgot to make it so that your limit resets every day. Fixed and reset, you all should be able to rate again.
