Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been announced at E3 this year, and is to follow the events of MGS: Peacewalker. As you may already know, or not, MGS3: Snake Eater and it's chronological sequel MGS: Peacewalker both (light spoiler for newbies to MGS)
Spoiler:
put you in the shoes of "Naked Snake", aka "Big Boss" and not his counterpart "Solid Snake".

MGS V: The Phantom Pain intends to be a chronological sequel to MGS: Peacewalker. What are your first impressions on the game concept and/or story, or your expectations towards it? More info can be found @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_V:_The_Phantom_Pain

I personally think MGS5 is going to be beneficial to Big Boss' characterization, which seems lacking considering the image conveyed of him by discussions occurring in MGS4. It is also a welcome return to the tactical espionage genre that made Metal Gear famous, although if it is merely a break of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which let room to hope for a sequel. However, the news of the change in voice actor scares me. Snake's voice is a symbol, a landmark in the Metal Gear Solid series to which the fans refer to when thinking of Snake. What will Snake become without his serious, deep, smoker's tone? Or will the voice be virtually unchanged?

Please share your opinions and concerns as to the future of the Metal Gear series.

The Phantom Pain definitely looks really cool. Very unique, as always with something from Kojima. I've beaten Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 and both were amazing experiences. I feel like Konami wouldn't have much going for them if it weren't for Metal Gear though, because their releases last year didn't impress many critics (example: Silent Hill Downpour). I didn't understand the recent Metal Gear's choice of action, because the series has always been stealth oriented. Basically, as long as it provides the amazingness that Metal Gear Solid 1-4 have offered, it should be good. Can't wait for more story advancements, because that's one of the best parts about MGS.

This new chapter in the Metal Gear series can be the most impressive, deeper and darkest because shows a Big Boss burning in desire of vengeance. Additionally, is the anteroom of the 1987's first title, the game than started all.

Although Kojima said than it is his final metal gear game than make, always will come new installments with or without him.

Arctic Wolf (SS82) :
Honestly?
I am kinda torn.
I was under the impression that "Solid Snake" killed "Big Boss" for many years.
That was disrupted in "M.G.S.4".
I liked him better before they brought him back in M.G.S.4. But that is not why we play games. If it was always about the character we would not mess around with G.T.A. or Saints Row or even "Postal".
It is about the fun.
That said...

I am very interested in what the new Metal Gear games can bring to the table.
Right now I am waiting for "M.G.Rising/Revengance" to Drop a few more dollars in price.
But I Should be indulging in that experience soon.

Back to Big Boss?
I like what they are doing with his character still. Even though I would have kept him dead in the modern generation. I feel that what they did for Big Boss's character in the Metal Gear Series is what they should have done for Darth Vader for the Star Wars Movies.

Can't wait to see it. Even if I only get to see "Let's Play" footage "on-line." It is good stuff. Great writing (Even if they can't keep anyone dead.).

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

I believe there just milking whatever is left with the original series. We reached the end of Snake in the 4th game, now the new game is back to Big Boss Snake prequel. It's only a matter of time before they retire it, honestly.
