Hello everybody, I am not only new to this site but I'm a bit of a pc noob, this is my first laptop, i've always hated computers but i've decided I must try get good on them.   Anyway my friend on xbox live told me about this website and said I would enjoy it, so I checked it out.  I gotta say it is freaking amazing and I will be sure to be a consistent member.  i'm quite a competitive video game player, I like to compete on leaderboards on xbox specifically on the retro style of the xbla games.    what i'm most excited about on this website is these monthly competitions, im itching to compete in them, This months Nintendo world championships comp will be just like going back in time and competing the actual event, sort of, cant wait.  

now I cant play games on a keyboard, this is alien to me, but i'm sure I can plug in my xbox wired controller and play right, this qualifies as a pc controller doesn't it?  I just cant get the thing to work.   I decided I must practice tetris since this is the bulk of the competition so I have loaded up the nes version via the rgr plug-in.   it says I can play with a pc controller in the top right of the screen but I must adjust this via the menu.  I double clicked the left button on the screen and it bought up input configuration, is this the menu?  this screen means nothing to me lol, but it says that port 1 and port 2 are set to controller anyway, so I plug my pad into my usb ports but it doesn't work, it is only working with keyboard inputs.

I reckon I may have more questions in the future I if I cant figure something this simple out, I mean i'm also gonna have to try to record vids of my runs on these games and post them to vizzed youtube site or something as proof, sounds well complicated, however I may be able to figure that out though I haven't tried yet, I just gotta try to get good at Rad racer and tetris first.  any help on how I play with my box controller would be great.  thanks 

I have no idea how to get any controller to work on a computer even though I'm a computer nerd, but anyway... welcome to the site! Hello, and welcome to Vizzed! I see where you said that you like competitions, and thought I'd tell you that we actually have a forum that hosts competitions all the time on here. Maybe you could find some in there too?

As for the controller issue, I can't tell you if an X Box controller would work or not, but when it comes to programming the input, I can give you some help:

- Be sure to plug your controller in before starting the game, or emulator.

- Once you bring up the input menu, click on each command one by one (A button, B button, etc). Once you click on a command, press the button on your controller that you want to use for that command. For example: Click "Start" on the menu, and press the Start button on your controller.

If your controller is compatible, that should get it to work. Hope it helps! If you need anything, feel free to pm me anytime.

Have you tried looking up videos on youtube?
And how could you hate computers? :o That's just unheard of for me.
As for you being a gamer, you may wanna invest in a desktop PC next time. Laptops aren't really built for gaming.

Welcome to vizzed. As far as I know an Xbox
controller does not work as a usb controller on a pc.
You might have to get a pc usb controller.

Thanks very much for replying to me, I shall give what you said a try, sounds like it could work, I hope it does or otherwise I wont be able to play, I'm so incredibly good on a control pad but useless on a keyboard.    am I correct that it is possible to play all these games with a control pad, if not an xbox controller then an actual pc controller that someone else spoke about.  I must try and take part in all these competitions u were talking about

Hi everyone, I'm a long time friend of Fast N Bulbous, and a former Xbox gamer. At one time I was also a fairly competitive player, and Xbox is where Fast and I met and became friends. I've since become much more of a "casual gamer." So it is my intention to come to Vizzed and relax with a few classics from time to time. ...And resist Fast's attempts to get me to 'compete'

I have to say, I really like what I've seen of Vizzed so far... And like Fast N Bulbous, I'd like to know if there is an option to use the Xbox 360 controller. Are we asking in the right forum? Or should we post on the subject elsewhere?
