Hi ladies and gentleman, welcome to MarioSonic123's review on Sonic Robo Blast 2 for PC fangame, now to make it clear, it's a 3D Sonic fangame, and a different one at that. When people think about Sonic Fangames, they generally mean Sonic Before and After the Sequel, as well as Sonic Nexus and Sonic Classic. 3D Sonic fan games are usually in full 3D in a certain model or something, NOT fighting Dr. Eggman, so... LET'S GET TO IT.

Graphics: 8

To tell you the truth, The graphics are WAAAAY different, the level itself is in 3D with a 2D background and the Character Models, Enemy Layout, Enemy Models, Boss Models, Springs, and Monitors are in 2D. SERIOUSLY! It's looks kinda like the DOOM engine, in fact, it IS the DOOM engine. First off, I'm not a fan of THIS graphics direction, It seems like it has way less memory than in Blitz Sonic Freerunner with had tons of models and levels that you can download online. I guess they used the DOOM engine to create the game, cause' they're just lazy, maybe... But the color is SO DANG BEAUTIFUL, for most parts... Yeah, for most of the time, like Sonic games, the colors are nicely picked and the shades complement the overall tone of the game are really awesome, for the most part... yeah.. :|

Sound: 9

Nice job Sonic Team Junior, you really know how to make a great soundtrack to boot. The sound, once again is from the Genesis Games, but sound and refreshed. The First level music sounds happy, the next is Sonic-CD-japan-like music, the next is calming, the next is an invasion of awesomeness, the next is an acoustic guitar canyon-like song, the next is ROCK ON. But the volcano level, is ripped, yes, RIPPED FROM DOOM, WT* is that catchy!? But overall, it's a soundtrack worth listening to.

Gameplay: 9

OK, so the gameplay is Classic Sonic again in 3D, so they gave him the Speed Thok, big deal. And as usual Tails can fly and Knuckles can glide and climb walls but Sonic is FURIOUSLY fast! No joke here, his speed is tremendous among the other characters and faster than all of them too! Tails is the slowest, and Knuckles is a meh. But thanks to the console (heart of the game), you can enter cheats and modify to your own advantage, and you can even download character WADs and add em' to the console to make em' a playable character, heck, I even saw Goku running through these stages, and with a LumpEditor and the DOOM builder you can literally change the game and create your own characters, now THAT'S freakin' awesome and I'm glad they did that to mess with your game,

Difficulty: 7

The difficulty within the FIRST 3 ZONES range from very easy to hard. There's no effing around with this game, this game will challenge you, will die, you will die alot, and HOLY **** YOU WILL DIE ALOT!!! The difficulty in this game is so hard, during the later stages, you will get RAGE QUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!11!1ONEWONEWONE So if you're gonna play this game be prepared for the most inexplicably hard while the first two zones will get you familiar with the game, but the challenge starts at zone 3 or 4 so be aware of that.

Addictiveness: 5

I'm Sorry, unless if you're a skilled completionist on a hard game, you can get rage quit and you will never come back here again with one exception, online play with a bunch of online multiplayer modes but, other than that you wont be coming back to this game, but maybe once in a while you'll come back to it...

Depth: 8

While the difficulty can cause some rage quit, this game has a lot to offer, the online multiplayer modes include capture the flag, vs solo or team, race with others solo or team, and finally some freakin' co-op!
These online multiplayer modes can have from 2-32 PLAYERS, YAY!!! This all includes facing off with a friend and pretty much playing together on the same computer, the single player mode had a time attack mode, 5 files, statistics, emblems, and unlockable zones. But, the game itself has 7 zones, 10 zones, including the unlockables, and finally, there are very few bosses in the game, 4 to be exact. Such disappointing...

Story: 6

While the story had some decent elements and twists in it, is barely next to no story when there's no ending and especially no cutscene in between levels. The story is that, after Sonic foils Dr. Eggmans plan of sucking all the rings from the planet, a big rock heads to Mobius for no apparent reason and after 2 months it disappears for no apparent reason again. When Eggman saw the rock it had a lot of chaos within it, that's just as powerful as the chaos emeralds. Eggman decides to set up camp there, but before terrorizing the world he decides to blow up Greenflower City, without wasting a millisecond, Sonic rushes over there to get the bomb out of the city but it was too late within 15 seconds of running. So Eggman gets away with it and Sonic decides to get all the chaos emeralds before Eggman does... That's it, How disappointing...

Final Verdict: 8.2 "Boy did they made a great game."

Overall, SRB2 made an ambitious jump into the 3rd dimension and pretty much used the DOOM engine to create one of the greatest Sonic fan games ever. It's graphics are colorful, the story is near non-existing, the characters are great, the music is catchy, the console is just total freakin' awesome, the game really stands out for a Sonic fan game, and the later versions will add textures and 3D backgrounds and make the game even more hi-rez. It's a great game to boot, just be aware of the slotter ahead.

Speaking of Fan Games, I haven't seen a fully made fan game with actual 3D graphics. I'm not talking about the engines like the Sonic Dimensions ones either.
