Is it just me or is it that N64 games are almost impossible to play as an emulator?

It's not the graphics that's the problem or the audio, it's the control scheme, I find it impossible to control the games.

Is it just me that's finding this a problem or does any one else find most N64 games unplayable due to controls?

Is there anyway to make it playable?

The control scheme is a bit difficult to get used to, but you can change the layout of it. Also, you can connect a controller and use that, if you have one.

For the controls you can find out which buttons are important and which ones aren't. The ones that are important set them to something comfortable.
And the audio and graphics and working in general is most likely your computer.

ScottTehHunter : Keep in mind that the N64 controller itself was a pretty strange controller that is really hard to replicate with any controller you can buy on the market now. It had one analog stick but had those strange C-buttons that usually changed the camera perspective.

So it's kinda weird configuring a layout that is comfortable with 8 buttons a D pad and an anolog stick.

Using a controller isn't so bad. I use a logitech controller that works ok. It takes some tweaking to get a comfortable scheme (some games you just can't do it if it was programmed with horrible controls in the first place)

In some instances the issue is that you just can't get the camera to show a perspective that you like. This is a common problem in the early stages of the 3-D gaming era.
