Pirates of the dark water is a video game based on the 90's animated series of the same name.  It was released for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo.   The game play of the two versions are very different, while the Super Nintendo version is a beat em up similar to final fight , the Genesis version is a plat former.  I prefer the Genesis version over the SNES, but its just a matter of opinion.  Lets start with characters and game play!  You have a chose of three characters to pick from, Ioz, who is the strongest, but the slowest, Tula, who is very fast, but also the weakest, and Ren,  a well-balanced character.  I normally use Ioz, his longer attack range makes up for is speed. The game plays like your  average plat former, but done very well.  In the game you collect things like throwing weapons and gold coins.  The first few levels start out very simple and progress in difficulty.  Pirates of the dark water has a high replay value due to its fast and exiting game play and wide variety of  enemies. Each level looks completely different from the next witch helps keep the game from getting boring.  If you want to skip over the levels you already played then you are in luck!  The game has a password system with a short and easy password to remember.  The graphics are pretty good but not as get as its SNES counterpart.  The music in some levels sets the perfect mood and others drowns on and on, over all it has alright music.  It has a good story, if you don't care about the story it is easily skipped over.  Over all this is a great game with some annoying things, like if you get knocked off a platform by an enemy you will be put right back where you got knocked off, but if you look past its little flaws you have a top notch plat former worthily of being a classic.

(This is my first review so please go easy on it)
